About the magic: is it more like spellcasting, where one character can use magic to achieve a variety of effects, or is it closer to a superpower, with each character's magic more or less limited to one thing?
It's basically a superpower, but because it's magical in nature, it can be more strange/unusual/unorthodox, but it could also be more traditional superpower-y as well. But its basically just a magical superpower. So more or less limited to one thing, maybe two if it makes sense thematically or they're not overpowered; for example, a character who can control fire and ice. It's technically two magical powers in one, but it's not OP and I get that it would be a concept or makes sense thematically, so that's okay. One power may have multiple applications, so it all depends on the magical power. Just nothing game breaking, like time travel or omnipotent reality warping, things like that.
