As the van jolted to a stop on the uneven terrain, Sohee braced herself against the interior, her gloved hand gripping one of the makeshift rope handles to steady herself. She exhaled slowly, rolling her shoulders to loosen them as she adjusted the weight of her Negev LMG. She had her LMG, her sidearm holstered snugly at her thigh, and the tools she needed for her real specialty: breaking into systems and turning enemy security against them. The long ride had left her legs stiff, but she ignored the discomfort as she shook the ache out of her shoulders, checking over her gear one last time. The van’s side door slid open, and the cool night air rushed in, carrying with it the subtle scents of dry earth and faint traces of wood smoke from distant village fires. The distant hum of insects and the occasional bark of a stray dog filled the silence, punctuated only by the rustling of movement as the team disembarked.

She listened as Christopher gave them their send-off, watching Megan flip down her NVGs with a soft mechanical click and move to cover. Bringing a hand up, Sohee flipped down her NVGs and powered them on. A soft, high-pitched whine filled her ears as the world sharpened into a green-tinted hue. The compound wasn’t far, just beyond the village, surrounded by the walls Jamison had described. Crouching beside Megan in the cover of the shrubs, Sohee kept her weapon at the ready, her fingers resting lightly on the grip. The Negev wasn’t the most subtle tool for an infiltration op, but once things went loud, as they always did, she’d be the one making sure their enemies had the worst night of their lives.

Keeping her voice low, she spoke.

“Once we breach, I’ll move to the security office and get to work on the cameras. If they’re hardwired, I’ll need a few minutes, but I should be able to either loop the feeds or cut them entirely without raising suspicion. Best case, they won’t even know we’re inside until it’s too late.”
