Yes, it hit a nerve! So stop hitting it! She was about to say something to that tune when she suddenly felt the divinity sickness swelling, and she shot a look at Yumeiko. The golden kitsune had just...taken a leaf out? Why did that... ""Zenryoku wo tsukushimasu." Even Velvet's ivory skin found a way to pale, and she looked up wide-eyed at Wolverine Girl. "Out, we gotta get out, we gotta get out right now!" It was lucky that the woman thought along the same lines--even if she called her pint-sized, this WOMAN--because even as they went to her room to pick up her coat, Velvet could feel the sudden pulse of power behind her and nausea rose in her throat. If she'd been at the epicenter, she would be on the floor incapacitated, one hundred percent. Just like Miyuki, it would seem that Yumeiko was hiding some serious power behind that adorable smile. She was halfway through her thought when a snake slid out of the woman's room, and one of Velvet's eyebrows went up. Slick, huh? She'd always been kind of fond of snakes. Partially because other animals tended to avoid her, given her nature, but cold-blooded ones tended not to care as much. But there was just...something about them she found neat. Not enough to have a pet or anything, she really didn't want to go to the trouble and it'd seriously cut into her video game time to have to take care of a living thing and all; but they were okay in her book. She went quiet, stayed as such as they went out into the world at large, pondering the snake. The shadows were long, orangey sunlight only barely blanketing the world; so it wasn't too bad. And the smell really was better out here. "So like, what's your deal?" she suddenly blurted, then checked carefully to make sure they were well and truly alone, almost as an afterthought, then lowered her voice down low. "Humans don't live here. Well, other than Max, but he's a special case. But I can smell the human blood on you, you are human." She paused, then turned her face away slightly, letting the aversion to the smell finally show on her face. "But there's something else. Your blood is almost completely drowned out by this...stench. It's so strong, it's almost overpowering just to be around you." Still alone, still quiet. "I don't get it. So. What's your deal?" Just as she was about to wait for the answer--she realized suddenly she still didn't know the woman's name, and the woman didn't know hers--Yumeiko's voice rang out again. She instinctively wound up, preparing for the feeling. But it...didn't come. She turned, looking at the cheerful blonde woman, fox ears hidden away, but still, even when she'd hidden her presence before the divinity had still been there, just muted. Now it was gone, and a broad smile came suddenly to her face, belying how serious she'd sounded just a moment prior. "Dang, Yu, how'dya pull this one off?"
