Right, so! Making some edits to his background so that Ryuu would've also spent some time on the island in his earlier childhood, then moved away when his parents wanted to avoid the bad rap on the island, until they realized Ryuu acted even worse on the mainland and yeeted him back to the island to live with his grandparents. Hope that's not too similar to Suzuka, but otherwise, as it is, he would've only met the rest of the cast for the first time some years ago, ha. On that note, going to think up some connections. Some initial thoughts: - This is a more recent connection, but someone could be playing the same online game as Ryuu. He does play a female character, and if the game utilizes pings/chat more than vc (like league for example), it's possible his teammates assume he's a girl too (without him realizing they do so), which could lead to fun shenanigans. Also, I realized I never replied to it, oops, but Fey, you mentioned Suzuka could've roped Ryuu into giving him advice on what to gift a guy, etc. and well, we could also combine it with them playing together online, her thinking he's a girl, and asking him because he seems to know a lot about dudes lol.
Honestly, I kinda like the similarity there. Suzuka had to live with her grandparents because of family circumstances, only to move back due to awkwardness at her new school, whereas Ryuu had to move away because of issues at school. As for them meeting through a game and not realizing it, that sounds absolutely on-brand for this genre, lol. I dunno how much Suzuka plays online games and the like, though, since she's never really liked being in her own house. Always tries to get out and do stuff because being on her own creeps her out. Could be a hobby she picked up while she was living with her grandparents, though, since she was way out in the boonies and even if she did get out of the house, there wasn't really anywhere to go or anything to do for fun. Could also have them meet through some of his cat-related antics, solely for the funny image gap of her only knowing him as "that nice guy at the park who's always feeding and taking care of the sakura cats" and then hearing concerning rumors that Mikako is getting mixed up with a dangerous delinquent. Immediately goes to confront him and then -- Oh, hey, it's my cat friend! Either way, I do really like the idea that in one form or another he's the one she ends up going to for romantic advice and vice versa, because the two of them are probably the most socially awkward people in the entire cast, so it really is just the blind leading the blind. XD
