She was also known as Vongola Ottavo. In the mafia the Vongola are the strongest and most influential family and she was their eighth boss. So, how could it be that no one had knowledge of her descendants other than her son, Timeteo, Vongola Ninth and his. Neither rival families or the majority of the Vongola themselves knew of Naoto Alato being her descendant. That's because as far as they knew Vongola Ninth was her only child. When Daniela was pregnant with Timeteo numerous attempts were made on her life, the most attempts on any Vongola boss in history. Rival families believed that in her state she was vulnerable. In what were essentially suicide missions hitmen were sent with the mindset that if they could get past her guardians, no matter how beaten and weak they become in the process, the boss wouldn't be able to fight back and ultimately fall. Thankfully she and son came out this period of time without a scratch. Due to what transpired, four years later when she became pregnant with her second child, Naoto's great grandmother, the guardians and other Vongola officials thought it best to keep the pregnancy secret. Daniela was kept out of the public eye as much as possible and illusions were used when public appearances were unavoidable. After giving birth there was a decision to keep her daughter and her descendents unknown to anyone but the future bosses and their right hand in case there was a need for an heir and no other could be found. As well as the the head of CEDEF upon the need for the heir. Naoto's great grandmother was a lot like her brother, the Ninth. She was gentle, thoughtful and kind. Though unlike Timeteo, who he himself barely passed for a Mafioso, she didn't feel like she belonged in the mafia world. For that reason and to strengthen the plan that was set in place she decided to separate herself from the Vonola. Shortly after the Ninth's inheritance ceremony she moved to Japan and eventually started a family. Naoto's grandmother was kept oblivious to their connections to the mafia but his mother, Miku, was a bit too intuitive and curious to let the family secret stay a secret. After a persistent questioning of her grandmother over a period of time she finally was given the answers she was looking for. Her grandmother revealed everything to her about the Vongola and had even kept in touch with her brother through letters delivered secretly by he Ninth's right hand whenever he was in Japan. She knew all about Tsuna and when she told Naoto's mother about him she was drawn to be apart of the new/old Vongola that he would create. This was around the time that Tsuna was officially taking his place as boss. At age 16 she moved to Italy to join the Vongola. After 7 years she retired when she married her husband Liberta Alato and became pregnant with Naoto. Naoto wasn't always the confident, rambunctious, challenge-facing soccer superstar he is today. In fact, he used be quite timid and feeble. That changed when he was 8 and he met Luca Cicerone. When Luca moved to Trespiano that week Naoto never expected what kind of impact he'd have on him or where their meeting would take them. Though you wouldn't have thought these two would become friends after their first encounter. Even though it had only been a week Luca had become a familiar face in the small town. That day Naoto sat watching the other kids play soccer. At the time he himself wasn't very athletic and was too shy to ask to join or even attempt to play. His father urged him to try though and after a lot of encouragement Naoto finally decided, relunctantly, to join in. When the game started it was clear Luca was the star player.
