At the tender age of elven you and your classmates were enrolled into the Military Class for various reasons; many joined with the hopes of becoming a part of the Military Police. But in a class of about three-hundred, only so few can go forth and make it into the top ten, and only those few are presented with the opportunity to join the Military Police. The rest are doomed to the Garrison, or even worse, the Survey Corps. Joining had never seemed difficult. Signing your name on a paper entitling your death isn’t a challenge. But understanding you can die is... and understanding the hardship of fighting Titans is even worse. The inevitable loss of friends and your own death all face you from the moment you join the Military, and there is no turning back. To abandon the Military is treated as a criminal act. You have no escape. Tomorrow, you are graduating. Going from child, to adult. You may be presented with three choices: the Garrison, the Survey Corps, and the Military Police Brigade. With the exception of the Military Police, your choice is up to you and you alone. Choose wisely. Below is information that may seem useful to you. The primary job of the Garrison is to protect and maintain the Wall from Titans. While the Garrison does not often come into contact with Titans, they are trained to be proficient at combat against said Titans, cannonading, and gun usage. They also often have a better perception of the Wall's Civilians and are more reliable than the Military Police when it comes to the people's opinion. That being said, the Garrison does not live a life of luxury, and are not always respected by the people. It's large population is due to the high mortality rate of the Survey Corps, and the difficulty of getting into the Military Police. This is part of the Military most involved with the Titans. The main function of the Survey Corps is to explore beyond the Walls and find out as much about Titans as possible, as well as, if possible, reclaim human territory. They have been branded as the hope of humanity, as they make contact with Titans most, and many of their members have become excellent at combating the monsters. However, many more are sentenced to death. It is the least populated of the Military and has the lowest success rate of survives. Nevertheless, its few skilled members strike awe and hope in the hearts of civilians. It's primary jobs is as guard to the King. However, the skilled trainees that go on to become a part of the Military Police often become lazy in the lap of luxury and lose many of their talents, overeating and sleeping comfortable. They are the most skilled turned worst. The Military Police is also the most corrupt branch of the of the three Military Branches. Their bodily appearance is typically masculine (with the exception of the Female Titan), and they have no apparent genitalia. Their facial appearance varies from resembling male, to looking more feminine (the anime did not portray it this way (one fault), but the manga does show some very 'female' faced Titans, with the typical male bodies; the female titan is only significantly different, in terms of body, due to her hourglass figure and proportions). General Behavior: Titans seems to have no other purpose in life than to eat humans. They do not go after other animals, and so for the most part, beyond the Walls, wildlife is thriving. They have an no apparent need to satisfy hunger, as they lack a digestive track, but seem to instinctively seek out humans. Their hearing and sense of smell seemed to be heightened as they have been observed tracking. Most seem unintelligent and incapable of communication. Titans "shut down" at night, seeming to go sleep. However, prolonged exposure has proven that, if kept in the dark, they fall into a sort of a coma, only breakable by light. 3 - 6 Meter Class: They often posses large heads in comparison to their bodies. They are the smallest of the Titans, with exact 3 meters being rare. Unintelligent. 7 Meter Class: The most common of the Titans. They show no signs of intelligence, but seem to be more active than their smaller counterparts. Just as disfigured as 3 - 6 Meter Classes. 8 - 14 Meter Class: These Titans look closer to humans, but often have enlarged mouths. They seem more active than Titans smaller than them, but their intelligence seems fairly low. 15 Meter Class: The largest and most proportional of the Common Classes. They also have largely engrossed mouths. Aberrant: These Titans display unusual behavior and in some cases, higher intelligence than their brethren. Where most Titans are slow and clumsy, Aberrants are often fast and agile. Some will even ignore humans. They can come in any size. Titan Shifter: A recent class of Titan with only two known thus far. These are humans who posses the ability to transform into Titans, most often 15 meter Titans. 50 Meter Titan: Only one known. Attacked the Walls. Twice. Causes proficient damage. Disappears almost immediately after attack.
