When Eulalie returned to the rail car, she found Red digging into her pack and offering her bread and cheese. If the girl had not been a fellow countrywoman, she might have turned it down. But the offer made her stomach growl before she could answer, and she nodded and accepted the food. Red was right, she had not eaten since early mid day if not more of late morning. She hadn't been sure what time of day it was anymore, at the time. "Merci beaucoup." she said, taking a seat next to Red. Her roommate. Her peasant roommate. Who is being kind to you, she told herself. She took a bite cautiously, but then ate readily. It was good cheese, if not what she was used to. The bread must have been made that morning. She'd had staler bread offered on the ship and complained loudly to the staff of it. "Mademoiselle Rouge," she addressed Red in French, preferring not to offer the chance for others to butt in on her private conversation. Others named Sawyer. "Your accent appears to be Eastern France to me, maybe near Germany. Would I be correct in my guess? From which parish do you hail?" --- ((OOC Note: her question is just written in italics as a translation, rather than posting it in French for the sake of I don't have time right now. Listeners would hear her speaking French.))
