We’ve all seen Naruto-rps come and go, most of them doesn’t last very long and some doesn’t even make it to the IC. So I suggest a new take on this fandom.
On the old guild I was briefly involved in a game where I and another player swapped the original cast out for our OCs and played from there. We created our whole team, decided which village we should belong to and played through a part of the original storyline. We made it as far as the forest of death before my friend suddenly disappeared and now that thread is gone. I would like to give this thing a second chance and is therefore looking for two serious players that are willing to create a world of ninjas to populate whatever village we decide on and see what would happen if the main cast of the series were not an idiot, an emo and a crybaby.

I'm putting this in advanced both because I'm looking for players who can put out good posts consistently and are satisfied with a posting frequency of 1/week or less. There will be tons of planning and OOC-stuff to do, so the game won't stand still just because the IC haven't gotten a new post in a couple of days. I'm also thinking about some new rules for powerplay and how chakra will work. More on that later. Anyone interested?

I'd definitely be interested in this. I have a few old OC's that I'm itching to use.

That's great. Any oc that isn't a "main" (part of our version of team 7 / team Kakashi) can be used as npcs. Of course all npcs can be used by all players.

If you can develop a system for chakra use that prevents power playing, meta gaming, etc. I'm definitely in. Also I whole-heartedly agree with your sentiment on the original characters. At least Sakura EVENTUALLY becomes useful

Sound FiveFour could be a good example of what would be possibly? Something along those lines? Just an idea but I totally get if you wanna keep it closed off, less people less chance of it crumbling.

Wow it's really fun to see this much interest, after the first day I started to think this was doomed.
Expanding the group is a possibility, at least as far as adding a jounin commander to the team. since we will follow the main story as closely as we can manage I think adding more genin would be a problem. Of course, I'm open to all possibilities, so if you think there is a way around it I'd like to hear what you have to say.

I might disappoint you now, but the system I have in mind deals with powerplay and meta gaming in a totally different way, by embracing it.
To start off we'll try to stick to the main story, which means that everyone will know what the next step is at all times. We know the strengths and weaknesses of our opponents from the start as well as their techniques and special traits. Powerplay will be set to "open", which basically means that you're free to include the other players characters in your post because they'll act in a way we already know. Example: First fight against Zabuza - everyone will get their ass kicked. Chuunin exam written text - everyone will struggle with the text and unless otherwise specified, will try to cheat.

The challenge in this game will be to portrait your own character, the other PCs and the NPCs as well as you can. I demand a more mature style of writing that isn't centered around the concept of playing your character, but to make the story as good as you can.

How long do we intend to do this for? I pretty much expected to go up til the end of the chuunin exam/sand invasion arc, but will we begin to deviate from the plot there or further along? And then are we going to insert our characters into specific roles from the series, like having an uchiha and the nine-tails and all that stuff?

Interesting question. Sasuke's whole side-quest does mess with us here... the easiest thing to do is to start our own story somewhere around there, but it all depends on what kind of characters we get.

Also yes, the idea is that we'll use the same roles as the series, but not as specific as that. So we'll have a jinchuuriki (biju either by choice or depending on what village we set our game in), the cool friend and the know-it-all. Of course, because of the golden rule of Naruto-teams one of them has to be a girl.

I used to follow this anime, but got bored afterwards. Frankly I prefer what happened pre-timeskip, but I am up for the challenge of catching up with what I missed just to rp.
