The kingdom prides itself on rule solely based on intellect and reason, rather than any imposed religious dogma. That said, recogntion of the Albescland pantheon is still a prominent feature of society, however there are no priests to oversee its worship; religion has become very much a 'do-it-yourself' trend. Most families have their own traditions regarding folk religion, which are passed down through generations. Most of the population lives in small towns and communities in rural areas, while a small percentage of the more wealthy reside in one of the five major cities that dot the kingdom. The people of Albescland are a friendly folk, mingling freely with the wood elves that reside in the many forests nearby villages. Wood elf forests are protected under royal law, though elves usually establish their own terms with nearby populations regarding matters of logging and hunting, overseen by the local lord. Rural folk are hearty and love to tell tales of faraway lands; when city dwellers come to a village, they are always asked about the happenings within the urban centers. and wherever they may have seen outside of their borders. The urban population has no less mirth, but is generally less superstitious than its rural counterpart. As cities are places of commerce and learning, city folk are more educated and have a much more realistic perceptions of the world. Fashion: Calendar: (Any major celebrations or important dates?) Art: Albesclanders are known for exhibiting great artistry in their work, whether it be the engravings in the legs of a wooden table, or the remarkable likeness of a statue. The products of rural areas tend to be more earthly and practical - furniture, basketry, leatherwork and the like. Urban art is more fantastical, appealing to intellect and aesthetics - paintings, sculptures, metalwork, calligraphy, etc. It is said that Albesclanders will never produce cursory, half-hearted work; if they are invested in something, they will see it to its completion to the best of their ability. Law: There is relatively little petty crime in the kingdom, a testament to the watchful eyes of the guards and strict punishments imposed on those found guilty. Most crime that occurs at all is monetary in nature; nobles trying to worm their way out of taxes, folks failing to fulfil tithes and so on. Local rural towns sometimes have their own sets of codes they abide by, and are treated as supplements to the overarching regulation imposed on the kingdom.
