Venren Cosnell, Knight of the Republic Appearance: Venren is young man, human, not much over 17 and of a small frame. While not having an impressive physique in any way, he has become reasonably fit from his occupation. Straight black hair that is always cut before reaching his shoulders and sharp, green eyes. His clothes consist of the standard knight’s outfit, rather worn out at this point and with the robe, utility belt and the lightly armoured bits now removed. Few men truly serve more than one cause. Sure, you might pay lip service to many and support others, but which cause do you serve most? The Galactic Republic and the Jedi order, or the glorious Sith Empire? If you have other causes you pay some service to, you may mention them as well. I am a Jedi, and the Jedi serve the Republic. Now you have described somewhat about yourself, but you have not covered why you fight. Is it out of idealistic belief, or is it something else? This is probably a more interesting question to me than it is to you. I think you should be at least a bit of an idealist as a Jedi, or you’ll lose sight of your long term goal and purpose. When your goal is sustainable peace, as is the case with the Jedi, you must always ask yourself why and when it is necessary to take to violence. But it always is necessary on some level. You fight while there are things worth protecting, and diplomacy does not always succeed. Surely you are not like everyone else. What sort of skills make you stand out from the rest? Do they stand out because you excel at them, or because you fail miserably? I have always had a great talent in lightsaber combat and using the force to fight has always come easy to me. I don’t know about standing out, though. Many knights are proficient with their weapon. It was certainly noted while I trained at the temple, but I doubt I am especially outstanding compared to my peers now. I also have the mental strength to make a knight, though I doubt that is anything outstanding either. I have also learned a few things about tending injuries without the force, though my skills are not of much use if there are forcehealers or larger quantities of kolto available. You have not been in touch with the rest so far. How do you relate to them? Are there any friends of yours among them? any enemies? Or perhaps you even have family therein? Do not hesitate here because you do not see yourself mentioned in other players' character sheets. They may simply have forgotten to write you up. Correct that mistake, would you? Xid is my friend since a long time. We grew up in the temple and trained and studied together a great deal. I’ve only had sporadic contact since we both left Coruscant, though. I know Allanar Damarcus in the passing, he’s always seemed like a good Jedi and role model. I’ve met Strago and Kinsa during my training, but I haven’t gotten to know them all that well. The past makes you who you are. What sort of events made you the one you are? Do some events mean more to you than others? Did you have a good or a bad life? Not much of my past stands out that much. I was picked up by the Jedi when I was about five and grew up at the temple since then. I quickly came to consider the temple my home and the Jedi and other younglings there to be my new family. It was clear rather soon that I was best suited as a combatant, and while I did have interest in learning other things it was only with the lightsaber I shown any real talent. I never did have the mind of a scholar, as interesting as their work is on one level, I never had the patience to read for long if I could be outside. I also would have liked to learn other less violent arts, like force-healing, but I never could. While a combat trained padawan I would travel with my master and join him on his missions. The ones were I was present were not supposed to high risk, but in wartime, well, things go wrong. In short, we had to fight a number of times when we did not expect to, and at some point it was decided that I had seen enough real combat and could stay level-headed under pressure well enough to be a knight. Quite early, yes, but I think it just didn’t make sense to keep me tied to a master if I could handle myself, especially in times like these. This was only just a few months ago, though. It was my second assignment as a Jedi knight that ended with me helping the evacuation of all troops and some citizen from an area now far into Imperial territory. That’s also when I was captured by the Sith and ended up here. No good character is without his or her flaws. Nobody’s perfect. The heroes, be they good or evil, tend to have more blatant flaws than the tagalongs. What be thine flaws? Aside from the different uses of the force that I am unskilled at, I am a young and new knight with little real experience. While I’ve dealt well with the situations I’ve been in, nothing I’ve been through compares to this. And while I’ve usually have had the mental strength to stay calm, I am far from immune to fear, pain or anger. I can control my feeling with a Jedi’s willpower, but never really escape them. There are also a few unjedilike traits that I’ve had to work on. I’ve had to specifically train patience, for example, and I also have what my Master likes to call “tendencies of thrill-seeking”. No matter if you are a Jedi or a Sith, you probably made a lightsaber once upon a time. What does it look like? I have made my own lightsaber, and it’s a shame that I had to lose it so soon. It’s pretty standard issue, really. Simple, with a wrapped grip and blue blade. Designed to be used both one and two-handed. If you wield a Lightsaber, which of the Seven combat forms has your order trained you in? Aside from the basics of Form I that all Jedi start with, I am trained in Form III Soresu and Form II Makashi. What sort of person are you? Do you use the Force for combat, or do you prefer to wield its more mystical branches? Is there something you excel at above all other things? Is there something you are hopelessly bad at? What limitations do you have? Don’t forget that this is in the middle of a war. Anyone of truly great skill would have been at or near the front lines. I was always quite capable with using the force for combat. Aside from just using the lightsaber, I’m good with force uses centered around my own body, such as having it aid my movements and the like. Most other things, and indeed the more mystical branches of the force, I am far worse at. For example, while I have an easy time pushing tings away, moving heavy things in any other direction requires a great deal of concentration. I am terrible at manipulating other’s emotions through the force and therefore have no talent in things like persuasion. Sensing is not that bad, but I have not great skill in that either. Some Jedi can use the force for things like healing or telling when people lie, but such things I cannot do at all. You are Jedi. Yet you have not been held with the other prisoners. Why not? Were you captured elsewhere? Did you just get captured? Or have you simply been isolated till now? I was recently captured.
