We used to Roleplay on the official Warcraft forum, so I suppose I can explain a few things. I'm guessing you didn't get to experience it.

1. It's okay to be a bastard child, but it is typically frowned upon to connect yourself to main characters in the canon(official story). Think of it as a taboo if you will.
2. Ragnaros' second coming is so far pretty much unheard of as of yet as we're playing just after the Cataclysm first hit, it has basically just begun.
3. We're using an oldschool interpretations of Warcraft's lore(this is only because we liked it better than the newer one), essentially before things such as when Blizzard decided to retcon the gender roles, so a Male Night Elf priest is a little inconceivable. 

If you can improve on those 3, you'll have come a long way.
