Should we plan any connections to each other before the RP starts, or should we go with the "everyone's basically strangers" approach?

I'm fine with either, but I'd imagine that our chars must have at least heard of each other? Which could be fun, our guys could have different types of assumptions and not so shiny ideas about each other.
