Appearance:Weapons: FloretePersonality: Evie is a cunning opportunist, willing to do whatever it takes to ensure her survival. Every move she makes is deliberate, meticulously planned out so she is sure to benefit from it. She is quick-witted and resourceful, but she never lets anyone know. No, it's far more convenient if others underestimate her, and so she often puts on a faΓ§adeβthat of an airheaded romantic. She'll barrage you with the most eccentric of responses, and "teehee~" her way out her 'clumsy' moments.
If not in her default façade, Evie assesses the situation and decides which would be the most appropriate persona to use. Tears, saccharine smiles, and even flirtatious gestures are all part of her artillery. She's especially fluent in flattery, as it seems to be the best incentive for a lot of people. Whatever the case, Evie tries to make sure that she is always three steps ahead of everyone else. She has learned the consequence of relying on others, of trusting wholeheartedly, and suffice it to say, it's not something she'll be doing again anytime soon.
Genuinely charismatic, there are few who can resist her charms. Even fewer know the real herβthe conniving, mischievous go-getterβbut those who manage to break through her walls of facades are the ones that she would never betray. Evie is surprisingly loyal. Once you've earned her trust, rest assured she will always have your back. She'll treat you like she treats herself, and that's saying a lot.
Finally, despite her constant insistence that dancing is just a way to make money, Evie is actually passionate about her craft. She is happiest when she's performing, as it is the only time she feels she can openly be herself.
Biography:Evie was born in a small town southwest of Ylisstol, but it would be the capital's streets that she would call home. Orphaned at an early age, Evie had spent the better part of her childhood as a street urchin, forced to rely only on herself for food and shelter. In the beginning, she found errands to do in exchange for some gold, usually small delivery or fetching tasks. She found she had a knack for performing, but without the proper tools and props, it was too difficult to stage a proper performance. The guards would shoo her away before she could even do anything. In the end of the day, she never received enough for more than one meal.
And so, she turned to using her wiles. Flattery and sweet talk and trickery were all fair game. It surprised her at first, the things people would do if you just inflate their egos, but it soon became her most reliable source of income. Add to that an exaggerated air of innocence, and she had an infallible sympathy-inducing system that got her just enough to skate by.
Still, Evie knew she shouldn't settle with just 'surviving' forever. Moreover, as she grew older, she found that the streets became an increasingly dangerous place for her to be. There were pickpockets and brutes to constantly watch out for, people with less-than-pure intentions to fear. In fact, she just so happened to be in the middle of validating this fear when her long overdue silver lining came. In the form of a ragtag theater troupe, of all things. Three members of the troupe had valiantly chased away the man attacking her, rescuing her before he could do any lasting damage. And more importantly, in what would be a life changing gesture, they allowed her to travel with them.
It was a temporary arrangement, however. They would only keep her as long as she needed to recuperate. By then, Evie had been tired of knowing only the harshness of the streets. She did everything she could, used every trick she knew, to persuade the troupe leader to let her stay. When that didn't work, she promised he would receive a very gifted dancer in return, and only then did he relent. He gave her a week to show him proof, and that was all she needed.
She wasn't exactly lying to him when she promised him a dancer. Performing came as naturally to her as swimming did to fish, and she found an even deeper affinity with dancing. Unfortunately, something as frivolous as dancing was something she couldn't afford to do during her time in the streets. She was out of practice, and probably not even close to the troupe's standards, but it was nothing she couldn't handle. Evie tricked one of the troupe's older dancers into giving her daily lessons, and she spent every second practicing and honing her skills. Come judgment day, she was no less than stellar in her performance. For the first time in years, she had finally found a family.
Or so she thought. She had spent half a decade with the troupe, traveling with them throughout Ylisse and steadily gaining renown amongst the people they've encountered. But what's five years if you get five hundred thousand gold in return, right? After one of their shows in Plegia, a very affluent young man had approached their troupe, asking about the dancer. Very clearly enamored and drunk, he had unashamedly bargained for Evie, adding a hundred thousand to his price every time the troupe leader had said no. When both came to an agreement, the troupe leader had knocked her out, and that was the last she'd seen them.
Evie woke up days later, weakened from all the Sleep spell cast on her, bound and on an unfamiliar carriage heading to Naga knows where. All she could remember was scorching heat and an endless sea of sand. She screamed and thrashed as much as she could, hoping to call any passersby's attention. By happenstance, they had passed by a small group. Weary as they had seemed, one of their members still took the time to save her.
She has been with the group who call themselves Shepherds for only three days, and while she is still hesitant to fully trust them, she knows she is indebted to them. Evie doesn't know if she can stay with them, but she also won't leave until she properly pays them back.
Quirk: Discounting her general misfortune in life, Evie has surprisingly good luck when she needs it. Gambling often ends well for her, and whenever she's in a bind, she somehow always gets rescued.
Strengths: Time spent dancing has made her agile, and if there's something she excels at on the battlefield, it's dodging. It also helps that she has a small stature. Evie's also pretty resourceful, and often relies of wits and trickery in order to survive in a battle.
Weaknesses: Spending her formative years malnourished led to her being physically weak, and even now, she is fairly petite. She won't be able to strike as hard as the others, nor would she be able to withstand as much damage. Evie also has difficulty showing others what she really feels, and often hides her anxieties with snark or jokes. She has trouble asking others for help, no matter how much she needs it.
Likes: Performing, sweets, pulling harmless pranks, making people flustered
Dislikes: Sellouts, her troupe, wealthy people who are careless with their money, her troupe, people seeing through her facade, being indebted to someone
Romantic Interest: None yet.
Other: Evie stays up late at night or wakes up early in the morning to practice her routines. She doesn't like others knowing how hard she works to perfect it.
Oops, it turned out longer than I thought! Also, is there anyone willing to be the one who saved Evie? Just so she has an immediate connection that I can work with.
