"Tinned food? Check. Solar charger? Check. Other supplies? Check." Ryan was looking through his backpack for one last time. He was packing for days now, getting ready for the journey both mentally and physically. The disaster hit his family - and every other human on the planet - by a complete shock. Fortunately for them, they were living in a small village, so it took those...creatures a few days to find them. They used this time to pack up everything they could and move to a safehouse. It all went well until the monsters ambushed their home right at the day of their planned leaving. Ryan and his father fended them off until his mother and sister got in the car. However, they knew someone has to stay back and continue the defense, as the undead kept closing in. If they would've surrounded the car, it would've been all over. It was clear before Ryan that he was the one who needed to stay there - he knew his father will do a much better job at guarding the family. He wished him goodbye and ran into the bulk of the creatures with his blood-stained katana and pistol, weapons that he got from the nearby weapon shop a day ago. He managed to give enough time to his family to finally get away... Although he expected sure death, he somehow managed to stay alive and more importantly - unbitten. After that day, he swore to stay alive and fight with all the skills he has. He managed to keep contact with his family throughout the days by phone. They safely reached their destination and Ryan knew he had to move really soon as well. Where? He didn't know. Just...away. Realizing he would be out of phone range very soon, he bid a final farewell to the family and promised that he will stay alive. His chances were very bleak, obviously, given his lack of physical training, but sitting still was much worse. After packing up everything left at home and arming himself with the two weapons and his phone, he stepped out of the house. "The time is now...do or die."
