Life is peaceful, the citizens going about their daily lives as they have for years. Many citizens follow blindly in the word of the prophet and founder of Columbia, Zachary Comstock. A few have grown wiser, have learned not to trust everything that the "prophet" says. These people have started a group, a society that specializes in matters that are best kept out of Comstock's view. They call themselves the Knights of Songbird... Far below Columbia, hidden deep in the Atlantic Ocean lies another city. Rapture. It is a bustling underwater utopia, the people are happy and spoiled. But with the recent discovery of a substance called ADAM, things are looking down in parts of the city. ADAM has been used to create plasmids, and now some people have become addicted to splicing, and so are referred to as Splicers. This is not the worst of the evil in Rapture... to get ADAM, it must be harvested from young girls. But the process renders them into walking zombies, known as Little Sisters. Orphanages have been created as a front for ADAM factories. The scientists who have been working on the Little Sisters caught wind of an experiment performed by Columbia's own genius, Rosalind Lutece. The experiment involved one child and used quantum physics to allow the child to seemingly open multidimensional "tears", windows to parrallel realities. The success of the Lutece experiment sparked curiosity into Rapture's scientists, and they have now began experimenting on the Little Sisters, as well as any unfortunate civilian they can manage to lure in. The experimentation is practically torture, the victims trapped in a prison. This experiment has been taking place for months, and has managed to stay under the radar from the rest of Rapture as they continue to splice and go about life. But one victim sees an opportunity... and they take it. One experimentee has escaped, and they are in search of help... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Some knowledge of the Bioshock series will be required for this roleplay, if you have not played the first game or Infinite, I suggest going to the wikia for Bioshock and checking out the timeline/history for Rapture and Columbia. This roleplay will take place in both Columbia and Rapture. Most of the characters will be part of the Knights of Songbird society, but there can be exceptions. The escaped victim is an open part, and if you wish to roleplay as them, just let me know. First come, first served. I am fairly flexible on characters, so if you have a plan for how to bring your character into the story if it be different from being in the society or what not, just let me know and the worst I can do is say no, haha. The plan is for the escaped victim to make their way to Columbia in search of Madame Lutece, and after warning Lutece of the experiments, she approaches the Knights of Songbird to help. So the roleplay will begin in Columbia and lead to Rapture after a short period. Vigors will be available for use in Columbia settings and of course Plasmids once in Rapture. Weapons are allowed as well, for a weapon list, check out the wikia also. RULES 1. No God Modding. 2. Be respectful. 3. Be patient, not everyone is going to be able to post 20 times a day. 4. Please try to post AT LEAST one paragraph per post (4-6 sentences). 5. 2 character limit unless otherwise approved. 6. What I say is law, I can change/add rules at any time. Her father worked as a legal consultant and her mother was a homemaker. Kennedy lived a normal Columbian childhood, taught very young to follow in what Father Comstock said. She did as she was told, did well in school, and never challenged authority. But when Kennedy got into her teens, she began to think more on the society she lived in. Why did they listen to Comstock? He never made any public appearances, the people had rarely seen him, if ever. What made the Founders so special? They were just people, right? Kennedy started to form doubts, though she was able to keep her newly found opinions a secret. One day, Kennedy was on her way home from school. She decided to take a short cut down an alley, where she noticed an old abandoned building. It had always been there, but she had not taken interest in it. Until that day. Curiosity got the best of her, and she peeped inside. The building was practically destroyed, but she decided to investigate it further. When she got in, she was shocked to find a basement filled to the brim with books. But these books were of the sort she had never seen before... that was because these were banned books, books from the sodom below that Comstock had made sure to keep from the eyes of his citizens. Everyday after school, Kennedy would stop in the building and pick up a new book to read. After a while of doing this, she had learned a lot. And what she learned only strengthened her doubts towards Comstock and the totalitarian ways of the Columbian government. Kennedy's father discovered that she had been reading unimaginable books and decided it was time to let her in on a secret. He had also formed a distasteful opinion towards Comstock, and he himself had formed a secret society known as the Knights of Songbird. He formed this society because he felt they could help people with issues that were best kept out of the sight of the overbearing government and its ruler. Over the course of a few years, the Knights grew in numbers. Trusted members of all kinds joined the ranks. Some supported Comstock and his ways, others could care less. But they all believed in helping people with problems that could not be solved by the help of the Police, problems that are ignored by the upper class of Columbia. Kennedy had been a part of the Knights for over a year when her father was killed in a mission gone wrong. He was ambushed and murdered, leaving the society with no leader. Devastated, Kennedy took over the Knights of Songbird and vowed to continue her father's legacy. She is currently the leader of the Knights, and is actively recruiting new members and handling business appropriately. He has dull green eyes and Black hair with a soft featured face. Bio: Jonathan was born above the world of Rapture and was brought down by his parents. His Father was an aspiring scientist and his mother was a renowned artist. Jonathan was brought down when he was to young to remember most from above though he still has to this day the distinct memory of the sun which he misses dearly. He wasn't a very smart kid as a child and his artistic skill wasn't much to marvel at but he had great comprehension of time travel and parallel universes which made him a great candidate for the tear projects. He was 'recruited' after the tests had been going on for a while but there were still quite a few victims after him. He had quite a few sessions of painful tests on him which resulted in scaring mostly on his back and a few permanent scar marks on his shoulder from needles being inserted into his arms but eventually it paid off when they finally made him able to create tears when a '*hole' opened up near the testing facility which the scientists took advantage of trying to use the hole to kick start their abilities. Sadly most attempts didn't work and resulted in much pain in most of the subjects but Jonathan was the last one to be used on the hole which closed on the toe of his shoe, severing his left big toe and the one beside it. After that he began to be able to open tears though he didn't let the scientists see him do so or else he thought they would do a autopsy on him or something of that sort. At first they were the equivalent of a peep hole to other universes but then he began to be able to progressively create larger tears until he found he could create them big enough to swallow himself into them though he never did. He knew he needed a plan. He slowly began to gain information on a secret society in some place called Colombia so finally he mustered enough Courage to get to Columbia in order to bring them back down to Rapture to save his fellow test subjects. Many would say that living in Columbia was wonderful, that the floor you walked was one made to be an almost perfect replica of the heavens just above. Or, that's what the prophet would say through the many perfectly placed voxophone recording everyday. As it was, it did look beautiful....though, everything has a dark side. It just so happens that this city was the dark that ensued the minds of the people. It may appear beautiful but to Daniel, and a few others', this city was a floating pool of fools. All blinded by honeyed words, and a false sense of peace. They all lived in self made cages. The young man knew, at midnight, in the dark, the Vox Populi and the Police would be battling once again. Hurriedly, trying to keep any from wandering the cobblestone roads and seeing the bloodbath. In Columbia, the lies it was built on were exactly how it kept afloat in the sky. To the people, they would wander aimlessly believing that the Vox were just a dark and twisted fantasy. Though, soon enough it would be a harsh reality. One that if it spiraled out of control, it could wreck all that this floating city had. When that would happen, a smile would creep onto the man's face, one filled with pride and something else, something darker. Trudging down the bloodied cobblestone roads had become a common pastime for Daniel. His light caramel eyes fluttering over the fallen, the wounded, and the scrambling. He would be hidden, of course, and watch from wherever he had positioned himself. They had begun to make executions public, and the crowds had now become viscous, almost primal in their lust for the Vox's blood. Watching these silent riots, the deaths without the screaming, the one's with those who wished for escape, but never to get it. To the common man of Columbia; the duke, they were not but fallen savages. To Daniel, they were fallen warriors. Though, he wasn't a total Vox supporter, mind you. He had seen the horrible things they had done, in their revenge. The one thing he admired most about them, the one that caused him to watch daily, was their truth filled words, or impassioned one's. That was something rare in Columbia, something dangerous, something fantastic. As he turned to go, his mouth set into a perfect line, his heart racing furiously. He had some unfinished business to attend to, and the two that could help him were currently awaiting his presence. As a scholar, and young man who could provide work, as well as the talent to avoid the repeated messages. He was invaluable to what they had in mind, to what they would need. But most of all, they needed his ability to keep his word, and that, he would do. Sometimes, he wondered if he had done so too well.... For most of his childhood he worked at his grandparents manor as a boy servant, though they had no idea he was their grandchild. Growing up he was always the outcast, never fitting in with neither his white nor black peers, as a result he pushed away everyone but his parents. The only real joy he got out of life was from the violin lessons that his mother would give him in privet. Leroy was ten when his whole world was destroyed., as small as it might have been. He was with his family on an outing, a special occasion that was saved for his birth day, when they were cornered by a seemingly normal robber, though a deadly threat none the less. His father gave up the little money he had and his mother reluctantly gave up her gold band, the band Leroy's father gave her the night he declared his love for her, but this did nothing to stop the thug's rage. "You damn N****! You're defiling this white flower here aren't you?!" Were the last words Leroy's father heard before a wave of the thug's hand sent a cloud of crows that ripped him apart. "And you? You had this mutt baby?! You need to be purged!" Another wave of the man's hand and Leroy was left alone in the world. In a blind rage the boy threw himself at the man, only to be stopped effortlessly. The thug dragged the boy towards the edge of the platform they were on. "Trash like you doesn't belong on Columbia! In the name of our lady and the fraternal order of the raven I cast you out!" With that Leroy was tossed to what he thought was his death. The boy fell from the sky only to be saved by landing on a passing zeppelin, though he was left broken both physically and mentally. Leroy spent a year recovering in the slums of Columbia, mending his broken ribs and leg, before he set out to do the only thing on his since the murders, killing the man responsible. It took him a few months before he tracked down the man, finding out he was part of the group called the fraternal order of the raven. Leroy, at the age of eleven, then decided that his whole life would be dedicated to not only getting back at his parents killers, but destroying everything he and his order stood for. The years since his choice Leroy has dawned the name Dread Crow in order to make a mockery of the Raven's, even taking their most valued Vigor and Sword. His father owned a bakery and sold many goods in the city of Columbia. As Clarence grew older, instead of blindly following his parents beliefs, he began to question silently. Even with his silence, he managed to get past the ignorance, ideals and stubbornness of Columbia. Despite his doubts, he went along with what his parents expected of him, attending church and so forth. After graduating from his schooling, he became a detective in the police force. Despite the odds, he has managed to separate himself from Comstock's and Fink's corrupt hold on the force. He always shows a special kindness to the children of the city, as he understands the pressures being put on them. Clarence takes his job seriously, and at one point attempted to go up against the Order of the Raven after he discovered the mutilated bodies of an African American couple. Despite his commitment causing him to have enemies, his way of going about his job has managed to make him a few helpful allies. His father was a doctor and he had a stay at home mother. One night, after a failed operation, one of his father's patients sued him and they were forced to flee to Rapture. James always thought it was stupid that his father didn't just pay the money so he grew angry towards him for making the family move to this underwater hell. Luckily life was fairly easy as there were many people getting hurt in Rapture so his father's assistance was needed greatly. But slowly, his patient numbers dwindled until there were barely any patients at all. Money was becoming tight for the family and as if God had answered their mother's prayers, a man came to their door and offered to pay them a nice sum for their child. James instantly rejected even the mere thought of leaving but his father needed the money so he couldn't do anything to stop him. James was brought to the orphanage where he befriended many of the girls and boys. After a while, all of the boys were sent home by Dr. Tenenbaum when she said that they would never work. But for some reason they kept James. After a long time, he noticed that a lot of the girls went missing and every time he asked, somebody would just say they were adopted. Finally, somebody came in and took James, saying he was needed for the salvation of Rapture. They took him to a laboratory and forced him unconscious. He was experimented on for hours until they finally managed to make a little brother. Probably the one and only, they managed to get him stabalized and he was able to go collect adam. There were some side effects though. Due to some issues with his biology, James was never able to be mentally conditioned to see the world like the little sisters. He was forced to see the Rapture as it was, a hell underwater. Vigors/Plasmids: Insect Swarm Weapons: His baseball bat that he found and an adam needle. Gender: Female Bio: Poppy Hartwell was born to a family of seven siblings, herself the youngest. Her biological father, Jon Hartwell, was a simple worker in Pauper's Drop. Her mother, Lucy, a waitress in the Fishbowl Diner. They owned a small room in The Sinclair Deluxe, in which the family found themselves quite cramped...Poppy only knew her family for a few short years as she grew up among the cigarette smoke, drunken yells and overall nastiness of the slums of Rapture. Her older brothers were smugglers, her older sisters were drug addicts, and her parents were losing hope on the Hartwell Family ever seeing sunlight again. They slowly started looking towards ADAM splicing in their moment of need, harnessing used syringes and falling quite ill from them. There was no amount of plasmids in the entirety of Rapture, however, that could quench their long streak of bravery and their will to spit in the eye of death itself - something that was inevitably passed down through the generations to little Poppy, too. When the Little Sister's Orphanage was opened, her parents chose to give away their youngest in the hopes that she will have a better and brighter future than her older brothers and sisters. It was the best they could do for the little girl, but fate intervened and the horrible process of mental conditioning started immediately. After a year's worth of constant torture and mental programming, Poppy was a Little Sister like any other. She saw Rapture in this "fever dream" vision and she dutifully extracted ADAM-rich splicer blood from the corpses of splicers, drank it, and regurgitated the ADAM like any other Little Sister was bound to do. But she differed, ever-so-slightly, from the rest. She had an odd personality, some kind of curiosity and spark that made her special. She was not personally part of the quantum physical experimentation programme to make "tears", but the Orphanage was mighty close to the lab holding the victims, and every so often she had to deliver ADAM from her stomach to the scientists working there...and she had seen the horror through the misty "fever dream", and she knows of the pain and suffering and fear that breaks through her conditioning to show the 'real' Rapture. She's seen the nightmares, but her ADAM addiction has to be removed prior to being able to help. Inevitably, she will run into the Knights of Songbird, who will hopefully be able to cure her of her ailment...and Poppy will find a new "Daddy" to follow. His mother having died giving birth to him and his father, who was a monster of a man, disowned him for having black friends. He never gave in to believing any of the harsh stereotypes of the black race, and always sought out to see their positives over whatever negatives their oppressors would give to them. This led him to be teased a lot by many of his own race, calling him a n**ger lover and that he shouldnt be allowed to have his white lineage (his father being a well known businessman in Columbia). Around the age of thirteen, while he was trying to steal a quick meal from a man, he was caught, and when he tried to run, the man used the Bucking Bronco vigor, suspending him in midair and humiliating him in front of everyone around them. The man dragged him off to where Jeff thought was going to be a policeman, but it turned out the man wanted to speak with him. He of course first asked the usual "What were you thinking kid? What do your parents say to this kind of action?" But when it was explained that Jeff was on his own, the man softened up and offered to take the boy to get him a proper meal. The rest of the day was spent with Jeff learning about the man, finding out that he was a Knight of Songbird. Jeff finally gathered up the courage and finally asked what it took to be such a knight, and the man replied with a smile saying "Well why dont you stick around with me and we can see what it will take for you to become one." From then on the man raised Jeff like his own son, and Jeff had the father he always wanted. He was kind, but stern, gentle, but humbling. He taught Jeff all that he knew about both fighting and the use of vigors, as well as the values that the Knights hold true to. For the next eight years, Jeff was shaped into a fine young man, with a taste for action and a love for tatoos, which can be seen on his arms, but he also has other tattoos unseen on the rest of his body. He has a taste for pistols as well as the hand cannon, his favorite (self made) quote "What you cant kill with a well placed bullet, blow its damn head off." he also got a love for Shock Jockey, him always having an affiliation with anything electronic, as well as the Bucking Bronco, this vigor holding a special place in his heart as the "vigor that changed his life". vigors/plasmids: Vigors: Shock Jokey and Bucking Bronco Plasmids: To be determined weapon of preference: Hand Cannon and pistol faction: Knight

Name: Mathew "The Physician" Humber Age: 33 Gender: Male Appearance: Bio: Before the fall of Rapture, Mathew was highly respected throughout the city. Some believed his work to be a waste of time, but they still admired his determination. He was working on ways to cure every disease in Rapture, to make the city 100% pestilence free. As he worked tirelessly to find these cures, Adam began to grow in popularity. Mathew grew to resent Adam as it made all of his work pointless, due to its healing effects. As the Mathew became less and less respected, he grew angry. The last straw for Mathew were the side-effects of Adam abuse. He finally saw Adam for what it truly was: a disease. It was a bacteria to be cured, and the only way to cure a disease? Using the bacteria itself. He armed himself with two plasmids that would help him in eradicating this disease. During the civil war and the fall of Rapture, Mathew took to curing those who he deemed "sick". After the fall, he continued his work, stalking the splicers of Rapture, failing to see the fallacy in his logic. His consumption of Adam has warped his mind, making him believe that everyone must be cured.
