Hello everyone, and thank you for clicking on my thread (even if it was by accident). This is the interest check for Cleansed: Peace Keepers, an RP that takes place in a world previously ravaged by a zombie apocalypse.

To put it bluntly: A cure was found and distributed freely by the military and CDC. The vaccine had a 99.99% success rate in those already infected, and a 100% success rate in preventing non-infected from becoming infected. Now, with the majority of the undead laid to rest, the world begins to recover from old wounds. Municipalities have begun to rebuild and restructure, government-paid mega private military contractors guard borders and set up check points, ensuring that all have been vaccinated.

Parts of the major cities are still unstable however, with some of them missing power, water, or both. Some of the undead still roam in the "dark" areas. And that's where the Peace Keepers come in. Essentially, the Peace Keepers started as vigilante mercenary groups hired by industrial PMC's to do the dirtiest, most dangerous work. However, small guilds of Peace Keepers are beginning to form, often with one or more major PMC acting an umbrella corporation supporting them. Peace Keepers (a name that not all take a liking to) are basically guns for hire whose main job is to re-take the dark zones. Whether that mean delving into the sewer system to unblock waterways, urban spelunking to take out small groups of undead, or even quelling rebellious, raider-like groups efforts in maintaining a world of Anarchy.

They don't have uniforms, they don't have badges, and they don't fall under any new-world laws. Peace Keepers are like those wild West sheriffs who show up to clean up the dusty old town. Except this dusty old town is a bit larger, being the entirety of the country. The RP would revolve not only around hunting down undead, but also around helping people and generally making dark zones habitable again.

I would like for the RP to be based around a small group of Peacers. Though if some would like to be rogue, that would be fine as well. There will be a few Peace Keepers guilds that you can align yourself with. They will give you information about little jobs that need to be done, or even major catastrophes. Whether you choose to respond to those situations or not is your call, but the guilds take care of their own not only by monetary means, but by free equipment like guns, armor, and tools. Who knows, you might even move up in the ranks of the guilds if you care enough about it, and find a whole squad of contracted Peacers (even if they are mostly red shirts) under your command.

Anybody showing any interest? Or have any questions?

Also, I would like to add last minute, you don't have to be a Peace Keeper. You can be a civilian, scavenger, raider, whatever you like. It's not going to be a linear story for those who don't want it to be.

Interested, though not committing. I'll watch and see what how this goes for a few days.

Well Nevis, how would you like it to go? What I mean is, what are you looking to get out of it? I'm very accommodating as long as it doesn't disrupt the plot entirely.

I'm not completely sure. I don't like the generic zombie apocalypse played completely straight; it's easy to have variations in it that can make it something that very much appeals to me, though. The whole 'rebuilding' thing is certainly different as it focuses on something entirely different than the (usually) dumb survival horror and/or mass slaughter. I was thinking of waiting to see more of how you present this based on other potential player's responses. I'll think a bit more about it, though.

Interested, though I'm not sure my writing skills are up to par with the Advanced requirements. I'll keep an eye on this.

@Nevis: You don't have to worry about it being generic, that's for sure. Obviously there will be themes that one can't avoid with a zombie genre, for instance the fact that you will probably have to kill some zombies :) .

@Spade & Wreck: Thanks!

I think if I have one or two more, I'll finish up the OOC.

I see one simple issue with your OP: Viruses cannot be cured, only treated. Vaccinating an infected individual would not turn them back if they already died, only help the body fight off the infection if they were merely sick. That would mean that those who turned initially and up until a vaccine was found would permanently be dead. Sorta like how you can't give someone a vaccine for polio after they already died of polio.

Aside from that logic loophole I spotted, I'm interested in giving this a whirl.

Except nowhere in my OP did I say it was a virus :) Also I never said that those who died were brought back. Those who were infected (see: bitten but living) were.

Good try though.

Oooooh, you sneaky dog, you. I'm a junkie for realism, not an ass, just a heads-up. :P

That being said: If it's not a virus, it'd be a bacteria. If it's a bacteria, it's an antibacterial formula... Not a vaccine. Bacterial illnesses CAN be cured. Which makes sense, since you said it was "cured". Mwahaha. I think I figured it out. >_>

I'll probably be willing to play a doctor-turned-warrior, if you'll have me.

Medical Doctor with a focus in Diagnostic Research and a dual specialization in Infectious Disease and Neurology. Sub-specialization in Virology (sub-category of infectious diseases). Former professor and head of diagnostics at hospital turned "field doc" for a Peacer gang. His fancy specializations have little to no real help when treating field wounds, but it earns him the flashy bragging stuff: "Haha, I'm smarter than you" kinda stuff.

It's actually a disease caused by a toxin, a toxin that is the byproduct of a parasite attempting to mass reproduce. But hey man, nice shot ;). With all of that being said, anybody who was an adult at the onset of the outbreak is probably dead or rather old (70+). There's an entire generation that was basically born during the end of the world. Which is actually shown to be a huge side effect of people being holed up in a building with no power and no entertainment. Things start happening in the dark. I'll probably prepare a timeline now that I think about it.
