Lord Coake The Man Who Sold the World

(credit goes to Akira Toriyama for creating DB/DBZ.)
Plot:
This is the tale of seven mystical artifacts known as the "Dragon Balls", and the lives of those they touched. Many people seek the Dragon Balls, due to their mystical power of granting nearly any wish. No one knows who created them, but everyone wants them. You are one of those people currently searching the world. Whether you be a freelance soldier, a well-trained martial artist, or even an intelligent scientist is not important. What is important is what you plan on wishing for.....

So this RP will be all about collecting the Dragon Balls. Some Villains may be the same, and some characters may make a cameo. Now, here's the actual RP rules:

1. Host's word is law.

2. Humans/androids(MUST serve the Red Ribbon Army)/the occasional anthropomorphic animal are the only races.

3. Any character type that fits the tech level and physical capabilities of Humans shown in the ORIGINAL DragonBall is possible.(so very few Ki blasts)

4. If a Character makes a cameo, I'll control them until such time as they exit the story.

5. You are not required to be a hero, nor join forces with anyone else.

6. If you DO obtain the dragon balls, I will deem your wish possible or not.

7. Feel free to make references to things such as the Red Ribbon army, the World Tournament, or the Ox-King's house being on fire.

8. Have fun!

CS Format:

Name:
Age:
Race:
Gender:
Appearance:

Weapons:(if any)
Clothing/Body Armor:

History:(optional)
Personality:(Make clear in either the IC or here)

Woo! Dancin' in the OC thread!

I guess I should work on writing my character out in CS format. I'm gonna keep it pretty simple so there'll be more interest to be had in revealing stuff come RP time.

((Oh okay, great! Here's my profile then, hope it's orrite))

Name: Bruhn

Age: Twenty Four

Race: Human

Gender: Male

Appearance: Bruhn is a rough and rugged looking fellow with a mighty, flame red beard spread out across his well built chest and extending down to his sturnum. His dark blonde hair is similarly wild, matted together in thick strands that fall across his shoulders and all down his back with great portions of it sticking out in seemingly gravity defying directions.

His body is the well honed machine a warrior needs, and it shows. Bruhn is a towering wall of muscle, head and shoulders above the average man with an almost impossibly v shaped torso, enormous, broad shoulders tapering down to a waist that still gives the appearance of a solid tree trunk.
Bruhn's arms and legs appear as though they have been chiseled from solid stone with forearms as thick as a man's thigh and thunderous legs leading down to massive, perpetually bare feet.

His strong facial features are largely concealed by his wild hair and beard but what is visible of his skin is golden and healthy and his yellow eyes, prominent canine teeth and all of his hair bringing to mind a lion's mane all do much to give him a very leonine bearing.

Weapons: Bruhn is skilled with several weapons associated with hunting such as the bow and arrow and the spear. He is also sometimes armed with a large axe for chopping wood but often goes unarmed when completing these tasks as a way of training his body.

Clothing/Body Armor: Bruhn wears little in the way of clothing, preffering a simple brown tunic made himself from animal hide. It is a tattered garment with no sleeves, ending just above his knees and tied at the waist with an off white sash knotted at his left hip.

One his right shoulder, running from his collarbone to his underarm is a split in the material that is held together with thin, cross stitched leather cord. This cord can be removed to allow the top portion of the tunic to be pulled down over his shoulders to rest about his waist

History: Bruhn has led a very simple life for most of his time on earth. Originally from West City, Bruhn was an intelligent young man with unrestrainable pugilistic tendencies that eventually led to him becoming bored with city life even as a child.

Deciding that getting a job would detract from his training time, Bruhn disappeared into the mountains where he has remained to this day, training.

That was, until he caught wind of these wish granting balls...

On a trip to West City to visit his family, he caught an excerpt of a rerun of a past world martial arts tournament in which the commentator was interviewing an elderly fighter.
"How do you do it? What has allowed you to achieve such a high level of skill!?" the blonde interviewer questioned. The old man just chuckled softly.
"Well, I've had a lot of time to practice..." he replied simply.

Bruhn seemed to take this simple, almost offhanded statement very seriously and when he discovered the legend of the dragon balls, he resolved to blow it way out of proportion by locating the balls and wishing for immortality, then he'd have all of the time in the world but even more important than that, having outgrown the challenges of surviving in the mountains, obtaining these legendary items was sure to be a test fit for a true warrior.

Aha! Wait for me! I'm still here, too!

Name: Agent Rainbow, usually just called ‘Bo’.

Age: Unknown

Race: Human shapeshifter

Gender: Female (Or at least she’s pretty sure)

Appearance: Rainbow currently takes on the form of a young woman with the appearance of someone in their late teens. She stands about 5’7 tall with a thin, lithe physique, slight but noticeable curves and athletic muscle definition.

She has a mass of wavy, dark purple hair that is most often seen tied into a ponytail high on her head with several long, twisty bangs framing the sharp features of her face.
She has aqua colored eyes, thin, arching purple eyebrows, high cheekbones, a sharp chin and a dainty little nose which stands out among the more mature beauty of the rest of her face.

Weapons: Bo is armed with a large combat knife and a handgun which she wears on opposite hips, attached to her belt with the knife on her left. She also carries three grenades, two on the gun side and one beside the knife.

Clothing/Body Armor: Usually seen in a practical military getup, Bo sports baggy, khaki coloured cargo pants with enormous pockets at about knee level. Her pants are held in place on her hips with a simple brown leather belt with a small, oval shaped brass buckle that sports a red star emblem at its centre.

Her pants are tucked into the high tops of a pair of steel capped brown leather combat boots, fastened to her ankles with a pair of leather straps. Her slender, delicate hands are protected by brown leather fingerless gloves.

Rainbow wears a simple black shirt that clings closely to her body underneath a similarly figure hugging blue/grey military jacket which she regularly leaves unzipped. The jacket has a thick, bluish white fur trimming around the collar that goes right up to the nape of her neck and also runs along the bottom hem. It also features an inbuilt belt that usually hangs loosely off of the belt loops sewn around the lower portion of the jacket, each shoulder is emblazoned with a yellow circle with a red star in the centre and a big, square pocket features on each breast.

History: Rainbow, as she is now called, was once a very gifted shapeshifter, having honed her craft at the very same institute that taught a certain cat and piggie that people familiar with another tale may know well.

After many years training there, Rainbow was able to hold her form indefinitely, certainly, its limits were never able to be tested since she seemed to hold them effortlessly for so long.

Some time later, something happened that caused Rainbow to have a serious bout of amnesia. Having switched forms so many times over the course of her life, her mind couldn’t even piece back together what she had looked like and she awoke on a beach as a terrifying patchwork monster with no clue who she was, what she was doing or how she got there.

Blearily Bo wandered, eventually coming across a town where she was met by the horrified screams of the residents and soon realised that she wasn’t like them and that was why they were afraid.

Catching sight of a billboard, Bo instinctively changed shape into the man featured on it and soon horror and chaos was replaced by cheering and adulation as Bo had unknowningly taken on the form of a famous action movie hero named Pamput.

For a few weeks she lived merrily in the city as Pamput but being such a recogniseable face meant this didn’t last long and she was soon found out.

She escaped by taking on a new, female form, copying a few features from here and there, changing her haircolor and made a whole new persona, she kept the name though, Pamput had a nice ring to it.

For the next two years she made a living for herself as a thief, it was very easy to her as she learned that she seemed to be the only one around capable of shifting her form.
Her usual tactic was to simply take on a human form, snatch a purse or whatever else she wanted and then quickly transform into something inconspicuous such as a mailbox or streetlight.

This method served her well but it all came to an end when a Red Ribbon officer in the town on business caught her in the act. He approached her but instead of taking her to the autorities, she was coerced into joining the ranks of the army as a secret agent, afterall, the ability to change shape was an excellent tool for subterfuge.

Unable to take the young woman seriously when she shared the name of his favorite action hero, her employer gave her the new name ‘Agent Rainbow’, owing to the color based names of the generals in the Red Ribbon army, coupled with Bo’s ability to change her own size, shape and indeed color, she was like a living rainbow herself.

Originally having the intention to escape from the army as soon as possible, Rainbow was soon put on an assignment involving mystical artifacts known as the dragon balls and, using her shapechanging abilities, was able to learn more about them than the big boss wanted anyone to know.

And so, she stayed on with the army in order to retrieve these dragon balls, and regain her lost memories...or ultimate power, one of the two anyway.

Personality: Bo is a bit of a wildcard in that she is almost totally amoral but is always very nice about it.

Generally cheery and jovial, Bo is generous, kind and warm as long as it doesn’t get in the way of what she wants. If she is motivated to do so, Bo will become viciously destructive, whether with physical force or manipulation. She won’t even try to think of another way, it’s as if she literally doesn’t know right from wrong and can switch back and forth in an instant.

Not far below the surface of her emotions, Rainbow posses an instinctive, almost animalistic tendency towards violence and fighting. She doesn’t know where this comes from but tempers it with martial arts training.

Her memory loss left her as practically a blank slate until about two and a half years ago and so she is wide eyed and fascinated by things around around her. This creates and air of naivety about her and indeed, there is much of the world that Bo either doesn’t know, or has forgotten. But she is far more intelligent than she is given credit for and is learning fast, making her very dangerous if taken lightly.

Took close to a week but here it is. Much like Akira Toriyama straight up used food names to name his characters, my character's name is the mandarin words for "liquor" and "mature" stringed together. Former name (Jiu Fubai) is literally "liquor" and "spoiled". Spirit of the work and all that jazz.

Name: Jiu Chengshu

Age: 42

Race: Human

Gender: Male

Appearance: A middle aged, rugged and scruffy man with a clean-shaven head and face, eyebrows notwithstanding. Not overly large or tall, standing at 5 feet 9 inches and weighing in at around 170 pounds, his body however is weathered and hard as a rock, packed with muscle without adding unnecessary mass. Because of his constant travels through wilderness and lack of funds, he is often quite dirty.

Clothing: Chengshu's usual attire consists of a simple long-sleeved tangzhuang jacket colored entirely in white with matching pants, no belt and no shoes, though he does carry around a large cloak to protect himself from the elements. All of Chengshu's clothes are often dirty and disheveled because of his nonstop travels. The only noticeable detail to his attire is a circular patch sewn on his jacket, right over his heart, with the chinese characters for Regret in black.

Weapons: His body, hardened to superhuman levels through grueling, non-stop training that has the potential to drive people insane from the pain.

Fighting style: Chengshu's style has been called the Gentle River Fist and works by prioritizing speed, fluidity and economy of motion in order to blend with and control an attacker's force to the user's benefit, placing the opponent in a disadvantageous position and leaving them open towards a counterattack. Chengshu, however, places great importance in subduing opponents while causing the least amount of harm to them as possible and so he usually foregoes crushing strikes or devastating throws for gentler pressure point attacks and submission holds which can be more safely applied. This does not mean he can not employ brute force, simply that he chooses not to.

Personality: Peaceful, well-meaning, softspoken and respectul, Jiu Chengshu's current personality is the result of the great grief for his past deeds that he carries within him. He is willing to go to great lengths to help anyone and everyone he possibly can in his travels, all for the sake of atonement.

History: Chengshu was once Jiu Fubai, master of the Crushing Torrent Fist and assasin for hire, employed by the underworld to deliver a swift and horrific death to select targets, often hiding in places where no firearms could be snuck in. Twelve years ago, however, the man dissapeared without a trace and all attempts to find or contact him in any way met with failure. The truth is that Fubai was tasked with killing the abbot of a temple who had previously offended Fubai's employer. Though Fubai injured many a monk, he was eventually subdued by the abbot and fully expected to die either by his hand or by the injuries he had already sustained. Instead, he was nurtured back to health, given good food and sent on his merry way.

Kindness to a man whose entire life had revolved around violence. Fubai begged to stay and spent the next ten years at the temple, learning to better himself as a person and reworking his martial arts almost from the ground up, sealing away his murderous fist. Eventually, word of the Dragon Balls reached the temple and so Jiu Fubai departed in a quest to acquire the mythical artifacts, seeking to right the wrongs he had committed. Before he left, the abbot had one final gift for him: he was no longer Jiu Fubai, murderer, but had been given a new start as Jiu Chengshu.

Well I posted this already but it didn't seem to go through, I heard the site is a bit rickety at the moment.

Anyway, I just said something about I think that Jiu Chengshu is a cool character and I liked the reference to food. I tried to make mine a 'Dragonball' sort of name but I dunno if I succeeded, maybe I should take your lead and look for a better one.

I think our characters might have interesting interactions given that my character has developed a focus on mastery being tied to age and your character is like, ancient in anime years :P

Hope this gets going soon!

Well, for a name, you could look up other foods that get better with age and mangle something out of the japanese or chinese words for those, it's what I did for mine. Wiktionary has a tab where it shows you the equivalent word for other languages including a romanization you can use.

I don't think so. Besides, it's hinted that Piccolo and Kami are at the very least aliens at the end of Dragonball.
