Name: Jemma Lovelock Age: 15 Appearance: Jemma's time as a trainee has given her a healthier physique. Her once nearly emaciated figure has become a bit fuller. At five feet two and just ninety-five pounds, she's still quite slim, but with her preference for speed, it works in her favor. Jemma has a rounded heart-shaped face with full cheeks and tapering chin, small and slightly full lips, and button nose that give her a slightly childish look. Her eyebrows are neatly trimmed, and her icy blue eyes are framed by thick and messy lashes. She's quite pale. Despite prolonged time under the sun, she can't seem to tan, even though she really wants to. Her ash blonde hair is unnecessarily long—she's aware of it—but sentimentality has been preventing her from cutting it. Memories of her mother happily brushing her hair always surface when she contemplates cutting it, and she just can't bring herself to do it. When on duty, she clips her bangs up so they don’t obstruct her view and ties her hair up in a messy ponytail. She also has a habit of putting it up on a bun when things get particularly intense or when she gets fired up. If not in her uniform, Jemma usually wears a knee-length skirt paired with a blouse and low cut boots. She also lets her hair down or braids it. Personality: Sprightly and good-humored, Jemma takes on the world like she has nary a concern. She has this playfulness about her that almost seems out of place with the current times. Very little perturbs her. She can get behind anything, even (or especially) the most bizarre of ideas or exploits. If it's fun, she's in. Breaking the rules for the sake of the greater good, or what she thinks is the greater good, doesn't bother her at all. She thinks it's even necessary sometimes, as long as it results in something better for humanity. Despite her apparent lack of concerns, she is not an optimist by any means. It's not like she thinks everything is fine as it is. No, Jemma knows dying is as likely to happen as anything else, and that is precisely why she makes the most of every day. Her mother has taught her that life is precious, and one mustn’t waste the time given to them. True to this, she's constantly on the move, doing whatever she can to help others or better herself. Her devil-may-care attitude also stems from her acceptance of their fate. She hasn't resigned to the thought of dying in the hands of a Titan—hell no—but she believes cowering in fear of them is useless. The reason she joined the Survey Corps in a heartbeat is because they have the chance to make a difference, and that's what she wants to do more than anything. On a slightly different note, Jemma is surprisingly easily flustered when it comes to more personal matters. She has no trouble speaking her mind, she may even be a little too straightforward at times, but she doesn't know how to react when she is sincerely regarded. Joking around and playfully showing affections with others is fine. Any crying or genuine display of affections makes her panic. She is especially horrible at dealing with compliments or praises in particular, and cannot talk about her mother without being reduced into a mess. History: Up until she enlisted as a trainee, it had always been Jemma and her mother. She's sure she had a father at some point, but he left them before she could start remembering things, so he's just a faceless figure to her. One that is unworthy of ever having received her mother's love. They lived in a small south-western district in Wall Maria, only a short distance away from Shiganshina. After the breach, not much of the town remained intact. She and her mother barely survived. Their house had collapsed, and they were buried under rubble, but her mother squirmed her way toward her and managed to pull the two of them out. They were then rescued by a pair of elderly men, both retired members of the Garrison, who gave them quick first aid treatments and honorably carried them all the way to where the ships were evacuating citizens. Jemma watched as the two men go back to find more survivors, only to get crushed by a large boulder that was hurled right where they were going. After she and her mother migrated to Trost, their living conditions became gradually worse. The injuries her mother received from the breach had made her weak and ill, and it was evident that she wasn't going to get better. Jemma did whatever she could to make her mother comfortable and healthier, even furtively giving her most of her ration of food, but she made very little difference. Her mother would pass on not long after, and for a while, Jemma was utterly broken. She ate even less than usual and stopped speaking, could even feel herself withering away, but didn't care at all. Death had seemed like a better alternative at the time. It wasn't until a man approached her—one that she would later on figure out was a human trafficker—that she snapped out of her debilitating grief. He had pulled her by her hair, and that triggered memories of her mother. No matter how ill she had been, her mother never stopped doing what she was still able to do. She still smiled and lived her short life to its fullest. Suddenly empowered, she screamed as loud as she could and wildly bit down on the man's arm, refusing to let go even as blood filled her mouth. Before long, some nearby guards came to her rescue and arrested the man. That was the day she enrolled into the Military Trainee Squad. From then on, she refused to let herself wallow in grief and started moving forward. She worked hard to improve herself and despite her occasional mischievous stunts that got her punished endlessly, she was able to breach into the top ten, earning the seventh spot. Offensive Skill: 9/10 Defensive Skill: 3/10 Strategic Skill: 8/10 Teamwork: 6/10 Weaknesses: Jemma is small and skinny. Even with her training, she isn't nearly as strong as the other trainees—she'd be hard-pressed to win an arm-wrestling contest, for instance. She also has very aggressive and reckless inclinations in battles, sometimes bordering on idiotically risky. While her instincts and quick thinking help her ingeniously maneuver around an opponent, she also frequently leaves herself open to attacks to get to the best vantage point. Memories of her mother are also dangerous. If she's lucky, being reminded of her mother would empower her like it did before. It's more likely, however, that she will suffer from a panic attack. It's been years since her mother's passing and she has been actively trying not to think about missing her. She worries that she'll somehow revert to the broken girl if she does. Skills Unique to Your Character: Agility. Jemma is quick, mentally and physically. She uses her light frame to her advantage and has excellent control over her 3DMG, allowing to move strategically about in a battle. Although she usually acts on instinct, she can also process information fast, so she never hesitates over her decisions. Out of battle, Jemma's a pretty good tension reliever. She can be unintentionally rude and all, but she has an infectious smile and laugh that help lighten up the mood.
