Name: Lucas Arryn Age: 16 Gender: Male Appearance: Lucas is an attractive young man with an athletic build. He’s a bit on the shorter side, standing at about 5’7”. His light blonde hair is certainly not short, but doesn’t go all the way down to his shoulders, and his eyes are a very dark brown that almost look black. Clothing: Having been raised in nobility, Lucas has a habit of dressing very nicely even when it’s impractical, such as when traveling, as he has had little experience being on the road or out in the wild. Incidentally, this ends up showing off his highborn status to the world, making it seem as though he’s intentionally flaunting his wealthy upbringing. He tends to dress in the colors of his house, white and sky-blue. Weapons: A short sword and dagger, both made from high-quality, castle-forged steel Personality: Lucas is very outspoken and talkative. He’s seldom at ease unless he can hear the sound of his own voice. He’s brash and impulsive, never putting very much thought into what he says before saying it, no matter how many times his big mouth gets him into trouble. He’s very lazy and unmotivated, rarely putting effort into accomplishing anything unless somebody pushes him to do so. The only thing he’s ever gone out of his way to put effort into is his swordsmanship, making him skilled and knowledgeable at that and very little else. He’s also extremely easygoing, rarely making a fuss when others don’t do things his way. Despite sometimes coming off as abrasive due to his rash and thoughtless behavior, he’s a generous and selfless person who will go out of his way to help others. History: Lucas grew up in the Eyrie, the ancient seat of House Arryn. His grandfather was the younger brother of Lord Jasper Arryn, Lord Jon’s father. He had only one son, Alyn, before passing away. Ser Alyn, Lucas’ father, was a knight, and did his best to raise his son to be a good and honorable man after Lucas’ mother died of illness when Lucas was a young boy. However, despite his best efforts, Alyn was constantly frustrated with Lucas’ brash attitude and lack of discipline. He pushed Lucas to become a knight for the boy’s whole life, having him trained under the Eyrie’s master of arms from a young age. Lucas had no real desire to do anything in particular with his life, let alone become a knight, but swordplay was one of the few activities he actually enjoyed, so he found himself practicing fairly often, becoming quite proficient for his age. Spending his whole childhood having his life laid out for him without any real ambitions of his own made Lucas grow complacent, causing him to become dependent on his father making decisions for him. Thus, when Ser Alyn was killed in battle against a band of Stone Crows when Lucas was 15, he was utterly lost. Now merely an orphan from a forgotten cadet branch of House Arryn with nobody to look after him, knowing that he could never hope to someday sit the seat of his House, Lucas was faced with an uncertain future in a frightening world that he didn’t know how to cope with. So, naturally, the comparative security and straightforwardness of being a brother of the Night’s Watch was rather alluring to him. Over a year after his father’s death, Lucas finally made it known that he planned on taking the black. He was never close to anyone of the main branch of House Arryn, and he had no other family left aside from them, so there was nobody who cared enough about him to oppose his decision and he set off for the Wall.
