Personality/motives: James is a sarcastic, optomistic adventurer. He treats his friends in good spirits and tries to convert his enemies to the side of good if they are reasonable enough to be done so. He can be rather impulsive in his decisions during battle and will often act without the consideration of the team if he is sure something will work. When he shoots, he shoots to wound, mostly aiming for the stomach(away from vital organs) or limbs.

History: James was born on December, 29th 1832 just outside of Amarillo, Texas. He grew up fatherless, his father was a bandit who had raped James' mother and left her to fend for herself. He grew up on his grandfathers ranch and took on his grandfather as his father figure in absence of an actual father. He learned the ways of ranching as soon as he could be taught, he took to being able to herd horses in faster than the other skills that he was taught. Soon enough, James' mother was ready to look for a stepfather for James and found one soon enough. She hit it off with a deputy in Amarillo, and after a few weeks of getting to know him, brought him back to the ranch to meet the family. James didn't take to the man at first, it was mostly because his genetic father had walked out on him at such an early age. He took to him after 2 weeks or so of actually talking and getting to know him. Soon enough, James and his mother moved in with the man he would soon call 'father'. He returned to his grandfather's farm almost everyday to help out. 

After a while, James' mother and stepfather decided to have a baby. James wasn't against the idea and was actually more than glad to have a smaller brother or sister. It turns out that James' mother gave birth to twins, two girls that James would later be taught to protect by his stepfather. The first thing that his stepfather taught him was how to fire a gun, he was adept with the revolvers and pistols of his time, but was still moderate with rifles and shotguns and the such. Things changed though when he was 17. He was helping his grandfather herd some escaped cows during a lightning storm when something would happen that would change his life. He was hit by a bolt of lightning that instead of frying him and killing him, changed his biology and tapped him into the 'speed force'. He felt his speed increase exponentially for the next year. After a few days, he was quicker than any of the horses in his grandfathers ranch, and he could draw his revolvers quicker than anyone in Amarillo. His speed increased until it reached its limit and the second life changing event in his life would happen.

This was many years after he was hit by the bolt of lightning and the America he lived in had changed greatly. A civil war had broken out between the north and the south and James had to choose a side. He had nothing against the slaves that were captured and brought over to America, he actually thought of them more as equals than as lessers. He defected to the North and became a drifter, doing bounty hunting for the Northern army and such. He eventually got involved in a particularly fearsome battle with the South and had to use his power to inform the North of an incoming cavalry force. He went to his limit and disappeared into a flash of light.

When he finished running he was in a completely different timeline. Where ranches and barns once stood, now there were giant metal building and flashing lights everywhere. He was soon brought up to speed by a hero who had time travelled from a date before this time as well and has since then became a hero of this time.
