[hider= The Eternal Dusk]

The Eternal Dusk:

The Eternal Dusk is a cult of the most dedicated followers of Valindra. These children of the Dark Mother are primarily made up of her most fanatical of followers. The cults of Valindra are mainly composed of twisted creatures with a morbid fascination with the undead, such as necromancers, as well as creatures deliberately seeking the path to unlife, such as would-be liches and vampires. These mortals of the material plane unnecessarily plot to spread the Dark Mother unholy embrace to all of Anadara. Most Dark children of the Eternal Dusk rarely end up in the service of the Mistress of Fate willingly; for those who contract a deadly disease or are forced to face the reality of their own mortality, while many often catch the curse of the vampire or other lesser undead. However, Valindra offers a potential escape from the painful ravages of illness or an untimely death--in return for an individual's soul and their eternal damnation.

Among all the major intelligent mortal races of the Anadara, Mankind fears death and the onset of nonexistence the most, and it is humans who have always been the majority of the Banshee Queen's servants. In return for their allegiance and service, Valindra offers her worshipers complete immunity to all disease and pain--by infecting them with the greatest plague of all, that of Undeath itself. Most thus degenerate into Ghouls, sentient undead hardly better then zombies. Powerful priest and wizards often take up the gift of lichdom, while the Dark Mother most beloved of children gain the greatest gift of all, that of vampirism. Otherwise known by mortals as the night children.

Champions of Valindra can become among the most powerful undead servants in Anadara, though they will also often be afflicted with some of the most all-encompassing, and disgusting, physical decay or diseases the powers of Ruin have to offer.

Cult of the Damned:
While the champions of Valindra act as head of the Eternal Dusk, among them her most favored children such as liches, vampires, or death knights. The Cult of the Damned is the main body of the organization made up of the living beings who serve the Banshee Queen. While these Cultists aspire to become Undead, they remain alive because: Firstly. Undeath is considered an honor one must earn, and secondly. living beings are useful to the Black Mother for their ability to spy in living settlements, and recruit powerful individuals from among living mortals. Leaving the more powerful children of the Dark Mother to foul the plots of her other fellow Princes of Ruin. As they are better equipped and better suited for such task.

Organization:
The base of operations of the The Eternal Dusk is the city Memnon found far to the north in the sands of the Wild North, and its leader is Lord Karsus. Lord Karsus takes orders from the Banshee Queen himself, and orchestrates the spread of the Black Mother following. His two closest lieutenants are the powerful Death Knight Aglarel Tanthul and the elven vampiress Galaeron Nihmedu, the trio are known simply as the Black Trinity.

Lower ranked lieutenants are always mortals who are eventually raised to be shades and replaced periodically. These lesser leaders serve Valindra without question, seeing undeath as the ultimate reward. Under the Black Trinity, the Cult of the Damned appears to run with little rhyme or reason, but the (apparent) chaos serves the group’s purpose - individual leaders cannot be picked out and targeted. Underneath the chaos is a tightly run operation with mortals dedicated to the study of dark magic, the conscription of new mortal members and undercover scouting for the Eternal Dusk’s forces.

Membership:
While the current members of the Eternal Dusk are zealous individuals wholly dedicated to their unholy Mother, most new recruits are shy and weak-willed people unsure of themselves. Unpopular, abused people, often considered failures in their careers or their lives in general, are ripe for the manipulation of the Dark Mother as they don’t have much to hold onto in the first place. Those terminally ill make even greater and easier followers and are easily recruited.

With the promise of wealth, power, knowledge, and above all immortality the Cult quickly draws them in. When the mortals commit to the Cult, they are forced to drink a putrid concoction that steals their will and enslaves them forever to the Dark Mother, to help them with the final act of submission. Afterwords, they are then trained in the art of disguise and even trained in minor illusions when possible, allowing them to gain safe passage, infiltrate, or simply blend in with an enemy, and are confident and in the full sway of the Dark Mother's powers, ready to work tirelessly to spread the will of the Mistress of Fate.

Members of the Damned view the Eternal Dusk and the Company of the Black Rose with envious fascination, and many feel this way before any dark influences helped convert them. The undead seemingly defy the natural order of things and show limitless potential, for if one can beat death, one can do anything. To be undead is the greatest goal one can have in life. It is considered a reward for a life well lived (according to Valindra, of course) to be given undeath. There is sometimes a murmur of dissent in the ranks when some feel that their fallen enemies are gifted with undeath undeservedly while cultists must work to receive that divine payment. Such grumblings are often put down quickly, usually with the threat of death with no final reward. The officers in the Cult explain that their enemies die and become allies because their numbers are much greater than the Cult of the Damned. If the Dark Mother only raised deserving mortals, it would not be the great force it is today. The Eternal Dusk needs the Damned because they need mortals to serve them.

Lord Karsus personally appoints officials and leaders for the Cult of the Damned, looking for people both talented in espionage and in pursuing the dark art of necromancy. Good leadership abilities, a talent for recruitment and the ability to blend in with normal mortals are also valued skills. It is impossible to reach any officer ranks without magic, however. There are no ranking members of the Cult who do not know at least a handful of dark spells or cantrips of illusion.

(Soon to come during the RP)
