Ivy's smile grew darker as she glared into Jade's eyes, her sharp and penetrating stare boring ever deeper into Jade's, waiting for her to blink. Ivy was gone. In fact, everything was gone. The grass, the trees, the lake and the stars above had all been replaced by impenetrable, inky blackness and a sudden, freezing drop in temperature. It was as if Jade was trapped in a realm that no one had ever entered and, more saliently, one in which no one had ever left.
