We could have a past history, sure, but the Synch is a vastly ancient society, as their creators are long extinct, and that left the Synch to develop all of their technology on their own after becoming synthetic. To put it into more relatable terms, their biologic predecessors were more in line with 1950's earth, and they have taken this long to achieve what they have as well as maintain stability. By all means though, let me know what you may have in mind for relations between our nations =D

Also, yes they were at one point a faction based on the Geth and have sinced moved away from most of those similarities.
