I'm building a list of TV shows to eventually watch and I was just wondering if any of you fine folks had ones I might want to check out.

For starters, I'm a fan of Game of Thrones. I've watched Rome, and recently finished True Detective (highly recommend it, it's fantastic). I'm currently watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel; both of which I am enjoying a lot. I also love Dexter, Shameless. I've been known to get guilty pleasure from shows like One Tree Hill and The O.C. as well. My taste for television shows vary quite a lot.

Feel free to suggest any, or tell me your favorites and why. And share and discuss favorites/dislikes with others too. No flame wars, that's generally the only rule.

(Sorry if some of these you've already seen, our last talk on shows are too long ago for me to remember the specifics that easily)

Out of the shows you listed, the closest I can honestly suggest is Doctor Who.
I would suggest Code Geass, but you were the one who introduced me to that. :P
On Code Geass though, if you haven't already I would suggest Death Note.
It's like Code Geass but instead with a book that kills people, the main character goes evil (which leads to interesting plot choices), a lot of religious symbolism and less detracting to typical school life and such, focusing far more on the main plot/story in front of you.

Now from what I can guess you'd like from knowing you through several Guild discussions.

There's Clannad if you're looking for an anime that be entertaining without any reliance on violent, acting, hentai etc (and apparently makes even though as nail marines cry, I haven't finished the anime myself yet though. So I haven't gotten there yet to be able to confirm or not though).

Also there's the now airing show Cosmos (which I'm going to watch tonight once I'm done catching up on internet stuff). Basically I know you have an interesting on complicated and mind engaging topics, we've talked/debated in several of them. Cosmos is one that goes all into evolution, science, the universe/galaxy, how we all started etc. If you have even a passing interest in science it's an amazing watch.

O_O Holy shit how did I forget these...

Sadly I haven't finished House of Cards for Boardwalk Empire yet. :(
But Breaking Bad is a master piece.
Also if you watch House of Cards, I suggest the original British version.

I'll go ahead and throw Trigun and Death Note out there. Two of my favorite animes. Don't have a ton of time to write summaries right now but I'll come back and do so later if you want.

Here's some that I like to suggest to people. It seems like you enjoy good storytelling, so I think you'd enjoy these. Some are still on the air, others are available on Netflix/Amazon Instant or at your local big-box retail store.

Episodic shows:
Fringe
Continuum
NCIS
Firefly
Ugly Betty
Warehouse 13

Serial shows:
Veronica Mars
Game of Thrones
Battlestar Galactica (the 2004 re-imagining)

Kings is a only a season, but pretty good. Same with Jekyll. Hannibal deserves all our mentions, it's a glorious shows with disturbingly well thought out production design. Guards is a sort of Irish mystery thing, pretty good, and the episodes are all movie length. And yeah... I'd say my favourite show to recommend must be the anime Monster. It's one of those that uses a more realistic art style and the story is unlike anything I've seen thus far.

Firefly
Sherlock
Doctor Who
Supernatural
Haven
Harpers Island
Alcatraz

Those are a few of my favorites. They all have great stories with some awesome plot twists. Haven and Harpers Island both sound like something you'd find interesting, even though they're lesser known.

I think Fargo is pretty good. :D I'm liking it so far, even if I missed the latest episode. :(

The Office, even if it ended not too recently. Thought I'd mention it because of my avie and signature. >_>

Oh! Kino's Journey. Another anime and a short one at that. It's more of a journey into the darkest parts of human nature than an overarching plot, but I think that's what makes it so fascinating. Only 13 episodes.

It also features a talking motorcycle which is never fully explained. ...Most of the anime has a much more serious tone, though.

Doctor Who I've heard a lot about. I'll have to add it on to the ever growing list.

I could always watch Code Geass again, always a pleasure lol. Death Note is one I've heard a bunch about and need to watch. And Clannad. Good suggestions here.

Cosmos is something I'll have to check out too. Thanks for the input!

Firefly will be something I'll look into. Love the Whedonverse. Good list, thanks!
