Nation Name: Arturia Races of the Nation: Minotaurs (5) Men (3) Cyclops (4) Draconian (3) Dwarves (3) [hider2= Nation History] Arturia is a kingdom born and forged through bloodshed; there had been no central government for thousands of years, the time spent with ceaseless conflict between the various races living in what made up the area around what is now the capital of Arturia, Ostwilde. The greatest conflict was between the Draconians and the Humans; the two strongest races in the area who fought for dominance of the area and it’s resources. Eventually the Draconians in their long-lived wisdom came to realise they were fighting a war they couldn’t win; whilst they were more powerful than the Men; they were being outbred and were beginning to struggle to adapt. After more deliberation they soon realised that the Men didn’t just want peace; they wanted dominance over the area and so they came up with a somewhat manipulative plan. They went to the men, offering to fight for their leader for his lifetime then they would co-exist for the lifetime of their leader. The men somewhat rashly agreed; knowing little of the lifespan of Draconian kind and so a regional powerhouse was formed in the Ostwidle Region. Together they cast envious eyes out to the unaffiliated tribes and conquered them, bringing Minotaurs and Cyclops into their Kingdom. Soon the reigning king was on his deathbed; so the Draconians elected a new leader; Olf Stonebrow, a man of little renown at the time seeing as though he’d only been born two years previously. Olf continued to live for hundreds of years, in a mostly harmonious state with the humans;the twin kings of the land continued to expand and fight together when the strength of two people were required. Ostwilde became known as the City of Two Palaces as the Draconian Palace and the Palace of Men were only a few hundred metres from each other. Eventually the humans began to learn respect for the other races of the land; their oppression of the Minotaurs and Cyclops lessened and they began to enjoy the presence of the somewhat exotic Draconians. By the time of Olf’s death; the memory of the agreement between the two nations had utterly disappeared to the humans. Co-existence became the norm for them and this was soon consolidated by a joining of the two kingdoms when a Draconian was invited to become the King of Men too; there had been a particularly brutal civil war between two weak claimants which tore the heart out of their nation. Under the new Draconian King, Erasmus the First, peace was propagated through the land and the two kingdoms were assimilated into one. Erasmus began to realise that whilst the Men adored their newfound strength through assimilation they would not be happy with playing as a second fiddle race to their longer-living, more sparsely populated cousins especially when the bulk of their forces was dominated by men. He formed the Council of the Four Races; a successful attempt at giving a voice to every race of their kingdom at the time in order to ensure fair treatment for all. Despite the somewhat harmonious, civil lifestyle within the Kingdom, it was a land forged by war at the very beginning so Erasmus was one of the bloodiest kings of Arturian history; more towns were razed, more people slaughtered under him that any other king that would follow. He bonded his people under a single banner with a torrent of blood; it created the ultimate enigma of existence for the Kingdom, peaceful inside yet brutally violent outside. Centuries later when Cormiran the Peaceful ruled the kingdom, a Draconian scholar, under who’s rule the kingdom collapsed into rampant civil war from the lack of bloodshed. The key behind the success to the Kingdom of Arturia had always been their heavy cavalry; their society is tied towards producing the greatest knights in the land by continuous training and the breeding of the most suitable warhorses a knight could dream of. Yet their blacksmithing and stonemasonry were rather limited at the time; the work of the Cyclops was the best they could manage, which whilst it was adequate was still limited in comparison to some of the artefacts they’d found with conquefred tribes; apparently they’d been traded for behemothic costs to the tribes people. Four centuries previous to this day, a tribe of dwarves arrived on the edge of the Kingdom’s rule, bearing gifts of homage and words of escaping some terrible distaster which had befallen their people. When the king saw the quality of their blacksmithing they were given a mountain as their own; albeit owing fealty to the King. They carved a mighty citadel into that mountain, Refuge Rock, which was imbued with all manner of steam technology and soon their influence spread through the land; even forming an outpost in the only other mountain in the land. The council was expanded for a fifth seat for the Dwarves who became a backbone of industry and commerce for the land; taking production to levels that Arturia could only dream of before. Of all the races to join the kingdom, the Dwarves’ assimilation was the fastest and easiest; whether this was due to their marvels of smithing and technology or whether the land was more tolerant was a matter of discussion. The Dwarves were soon commissioned to redesign and rebuild just abouty every city and castle in the land. As such the kingdom did profit greatly from the addition of dwarves and whilst they became the most powerful kingdom in their area; tales were brought with the dwarves of far off kingdoms with a beauty and wealth that had never been seen before; kingdoms of mages and kingdoms of merchant, all ready to be plundered by one of the finest cavalry forces the world had ever seen. [/hider2]

King Eyrar the Restless Eyrar is a relatively young king at only 25, yet he has ruled the land for 5 years in which he has let enough blood for even King Erasmus to be worried about his record. Any enemy great or small has been taken on and crushed under the thunderous hooves of his medieval war machine. However with all the nearby enemies having been vanquished with none of them proving much resistance, King Eyrar looks abroad; his strategic gaze settling upon the rumored origins of the tall tales about the kingdoms of afar. Ironfist: The Chieftan of the Minotaur Tribes, he won his position by virtue of his combat prowess and it is because of this that he holds this position. Whilst he is rather lacking in intelligence and strategic skills he is an awe inspiring sight on the battlefield; the sight of an armoured Minotaur mowing down hordes of enemies never fails to lift morale. Despite all his combat prowess is he surprisingly loyal to King Eyrar, a man who lacks a lot of physical prowess but due to a seemingly endless supply of enemies for his blade Ironfist is more than content with the current situation. Turok the Clearsighted The leader of the Cyclops of Arturia, it's quite a mystery how someone as peaceful as Turok was raised to be their king; after all for a tribe of famed soldiers and brutes how is their elected leader is more scholar than soldier? Despite this rather large contradiction, Turok has done much for the Cyclops race in his time; raising them from brutishness and turning them into somewhat of a civilised people although they still have a long way to go before reaching their Men or Draconian counterparts. He serves as an advisor and steward to the king. Duke Signius Leader of the Draconian people and the only possible challenger to the rule of Eyrar, Signius has a few centuries of life into him which he feels gives him a level of wisdom beyond any of his counterparts. He however lacks the backing of any of the other races in the land; every other ruler seems content with the leadership of Eyrar and Arturia is not a land very forgiving of revolts against the king. Duke Rotar of Refuge Rock The Master Smith of the Dwarven people, he serves as Lord of Refuge Rock and the leader of the Dwarven people in the kingdom of Arturia. His people are quite notably rather peaceful; preferring the fire of the forge over the fire of battle and cotnent themselves with being the masters of industry. He is a smith of legendary skill who's creations command an enormous sum on any market. Knight-Marshal Cerannius A man of unrivalled strategic ability and commander of the Arturian forces, he is known for holding the only non-aristocratic position in the kingdom and rather notably having risen from nothing more than a farm boy to claim that honour. He holds this position until his death and is known for being unswervingly loyal to King Eyrar and his cause.
