I'll post my created race and country first. Race - Name: Arakan Homeland: Arakan Expanse Country: Arakan Expanse Common Physical Features: - Nearly identical in outward appearance to humans except for a few differences. - The average height of an Arakan male is 1.87 meters; the average height of a female is 1.82 meters. - Instead of teeth, Arakans have fangs, comparable to that of a wolf. - Eye color is much wilder, shades of red, yellow, green and purple. - Their skin color is darker, as they are from a desert region. Common Physiological Features: - Tougher skin compared to humans, they are more resistant to cuts, scrapes and bruises. - They live an extended lifespan, Arakans max out at 500 years old. Common Magical Features: - Magic is uncommon among Arakans, about five percent of the population is able to use magic, and these magic users are highly regarded as healers and priests of the Arakan. Other: - They are a quiet uncommon race, low in numbers compared to the others. About 175k live in the Expanse. - Many Arakans look down upon the other races and do not trust them. This doesn't necessarily make them racist, most of them just spend their own lives with their own people in their homeland. - Many Arakans don't usually leave the Expanse willingly. Most of the few that are seen in Lemea are exiles who committed serious crimes that resulted in them being sent away from their homeland as punishment. Although sometimes traveling Arakan merchants, scouts or messengers are seen in Lemea. Country - Name: Arakan Expanse Political System: Clan system (One dominant clan rules the others and runs the country, the other recognized clans have advisers so their clans input is given to the head clan) Location: The Expanse is a desert coastal region split from Lamea by the Kazuh Mountains, it resides on the west coastline, the natural barrier of the mountains keep it isolated. Those that manage to get through the mountains would then have to cross a desert. This would place the Expanse north of the Elven Kingdom and northwest of the Orclands. History: The Arakan people have a long and bloody history, the race from the start has been very war oriented. The strongest Arakan warriors are revered and well respected; the order of the clans is determined by the militaristic strength of the clans. The Arakan began as a small band of warriors, mercenaries and explorers whom migrated from the surrounding region. They moved to the harsh north western regions of Lemea, now referred to as the Arkanan Expanse. They started a settlement deep in the desert by the oceans to the northwest. Right away they began hunting, scavenging and fishing, eager to make a home in the cruel Expanse. The Arakan people had differing ideas of how to run the country, so naturally they formed clans of descent and friendship. These early clans fought gladiatorial style matches in order to determine the rightful ruling clan, as they did not have enough people to start civil wars that nowadays happen when one recognized Arakan clan wishes to take control of the country over the current ruling one. The Arakan prospered in the hardy Expanse, uninterrupted by the nations of Lemea that could’ve invaded if it were not for the mountain range and deserts which stopped any plan to move armies. The Arakan did send scout groups up and around the range, they did come upon mountain passes which allowed them access to the rest of Lemea. These scouts interacted with other races they came upon. They returned many months later with tales of faraway settlements and strange races. Nowadays, there are five recognized clans, other smaller ones exist, but they do not meet the requirements to be recognized. The current ruling clan is Ithric, the overall Arakan leader being Beson Ithric, who has ruled for 41 years. The four other recognized clans are Kacar, Eacyn, Kaedma and Jonaloc. Beson’s rule has been well received and tensions are low amongst the clans. Notes: - Most of the other races tend to stay away from the Arakan Expanse, though the Arakan welcome anybody who can trek through the mountains and desert to reach their settlement. - The Arakan have no true organized military at the moment, if they ever were attacked, the ruler of all the clans would unite every clan and create a fearsome, well trained military force.
