"You should definitely challenge the gyms!" Carter, turning and smiling. "The first one is in Pewter City. It's a Rock-type gym, perfect for you and Azurill to take on!" He pulled out his Pokedex and showed her the type match-ups. "These are essential to know for battle. If you're opponent has a higher-leveled Pokemon than you, you can still beat them with a good type match." He explained. He snapped his dex closed and slipped it back into his pocket. "Of course, you should also work on making a balanced team. The second gym is a Water type, and the next one will be Electric, which is strong against water. Bad matches for a water-type." Carter looked fondly around his room one last time. "Okay, I'm ready to go!" He said, leading her back downstairs. Teddiursa and Azurill were being fed some Pokemon food, Carter's mom watching them and reading. "Leaving now, Honey?" She asked, kissing him on the forehead. She turned to Rosina. "You have fun on your journey too, dear." She said, smiling. Teddiursa was returned to his Pokeball, which was placed on Carter's belt. They made their way through town, and up to Route 2, stopping at the gatehouse into Viridian Forest. "Okay, get ready. There are Poison-type and Bug-type Pokemon ahead. Keep your antidotes handy." He advised, always careful. They took their first steps in.
