"Given that just about every other option has said no, no, I won't be needing you to 'prove yourself'. Besides, unless the local Guildmaster is a complete fool, he wouldn't stand incapable thieves." He gestured to the chair across from him. "Sit, if you're interested."

(I had five much longer posts over the last day and a half written...each time they got eaten by my internet failing. I've decided to not tempt fate this time.)

"Well I guess at least I'm better than nothing then." Felicia commented with a slight snort of irritation before glancing to the chair across from Julian. Standing to her feet, the half elf moved over to the chair across from them, her eyes filled with at the very least a mild interest in what this job was. She remained silent though waiting for Julian to speak.

(Lol that's a bad thing to have happen, I understand you're pain. I just hope you'll forgive me for my short post as well.)

(Totally forgive."

"I'm sure you know all about Baron Kaskar and his...unique statue. You know, the one that no one can steal? Well, not only do I aim to steal it, but I know how to do it. The downside is that...well, if breaking into his house is dangerous and risky...the way in is only a little bit less." He gestured to the surroundings. "The whole city wasn't always Kaskar. Didn't even always belong to the Kingdom. You've heard of the Empire, but...they built. Everywhere. Including down. Tunnels underneath the entire city. You can get into almost any building old enough and with a basement from these tunnels." His entire discussion thus far had been murmured, barely above an imperceptible whisper.

"Unfortunately, the only way into these tunnels that is practicable to us is through a crypt...that is almost certainly filled with the walking dead. Which is the catch. Hence the need for two people."

Felicia listened to the man with interest, she had never really doubted that there was a a way to get the Baron's statue despite what everyone thought. Then again she always thought herself a dreamer for thinking such things but it didn't stop her. Then there was also the tunnel theory as well, a few thieves had claimed to actually seen the tunnels but most people here thought they were a bit off in the head. "How do you know for sure you can get in through the crypt. A lot of others have tried and failed at the task you're proposing will work. Of course no one has tried the tunnels, but that's because most thieves don't believe they exist. Forgive me for being skeptical, I tend to like going off facts." Felicia replied in a low tone as she looked at the man genuinely curious as to if he had something to back up his knowledge.

Rolling his eyes at her skepticism - not that he could really be surprised, given everything else - he reached into his belt pouch and took out a number of pages and papers, laying a few out on the table. "You'd be amazed at what trawling around the Royal Archives in the capital can get you, if you spend enough time there. They've got the largest collection of old imperial documents in the kingdom, and a lot of originals too." He pointed to one aged parchment, "Such as this one." The writing was in the old Vilarian script. Taking something like that out of the Royal Archives would have been highly illegal. Not than anyone in the room would have cared one whit about that, but it at least gave some indication of his ability, considering the difficulty also involved. It was a lot of lines and markings, sketching out a plan of something.

"This is the tunnel network, when it was built, and all the entrances built into it, back in the days before they called Kaskar Kaskar." Then he laid a different paper next to it. "And this is Kaskar today. Well, two years ago, anyway." He laid the two maps over each other.

Felicia smirked slightly, her eyes filled with a bit of surprise as she eyed the document he had produced. She wasn't too proud to admit she was impressed that he had some how acquired the items from the Royal Archives, as that was a feat well worthy of recognition. Felicia traced her finger lightly on the top map which was of the old city, since it was rather old one could see the faint outlines of the new map of current Kaskar beneath it. "I can't read the old Vilarian script, but it looks like a genuine map of the old city tunnels. The old Empire seal is next to the script, there's no way this isn't real. If that's true then all these tunnels should exist." Felicia's eyes lit up as she looked over the map, her smirk had shifted into a full fledged grin of excitement.

Even as she looked and took in the fact that the crypt would be their entrance, even at the threat of possible necromancy, Felicia still couldn't help but grin. This was huge, and something not just anyone could pull off, it would be well worth the run in with the walking dead if they could pull it off. "This crypt... it's supposed to be pretty big isn't it? From stories I've hear anyways. It's supposed to be filled with dead ends as well to trap thieves and grave robbers." She commented softly looking at the crypt on the map. "Did you find anything showing a way through or are we going into it blind?" Her hazel colored eyes flickered to Julian now.

"Nothing particularly helpful." Julian admitted. "The mausoleum may have been mapped during the days before the Empire, but if it was, no maps of it survive down to this day. Apart from knowing that we need to go down - at least a few hundred feet or so - to hit the tunnel network, I don't know anything more. As for how big it is, I suspect its grown in the telling, as with the traps, but that's one of the reasons for two people - another pair of eyes, another set of hands for getting past the traps." He frowned, his brow furrowing. "However, I think we can be pretty confident that none of the traps in the tomb will actually be magical ones. Before the empire came along to this part of the world, only the priests were allowed to use magic, and they didn't go in for traps. Just wards to keep the dead in their tombs. Not that an arrow or falling blade trap can't kill you, but its a much more workable threat."

"There's always a chance the temple might have something, if you fancy a heist on holy ground before we head for the tomb. Churches keep records like pack rats almost as much as governments do. They might have the old architectural plans for the Mausoleum of Tyrants, from when it was built. Or at least," he shrugged, "Something we can work with."

"Heh, I wouldn't say no to getting my hands on something from the church of course, that sounds too good to pass up if it's on the way anyways. However my interest actually lies with being able to bring back something that I can use as proof that I've been down to the tunnels and tomb that have caused a debate amongst the thieves of this guild. Honestly the bragging rights alone would be worth more to me personally than what I could carry back." Felicia couldn't suppress the grin on her face. For years she had heard others ridiculed for their stories and beliefs that the old structures existed, to be able to make even on person believe in their existence would make the she-elf happy.

"You don't think there's much of a chance of magical traps though? That at least makes me a bit more confident in being able to make it through the tomb unscathed. I'm not involved in magic so anything of the sort is out of my experience to be perfectly honest." Felicia wasn't going to admit outright to him that she was actually a bit scared of magic and those who could use it.

"Join the club." Julian agreed wryly. "I hope there's a special place in the Twelve Hells for whichever inventive mage came up with the idea of magical traps. Makes our jobs unnecessarily harder. But yea, I'm pretty confident on the no magical traps front." At least until we get to the tunnels themselves. Then who knows what the Empire's wizards may have left behind down there. Not that he was going to tell her that. "As for proof, well, all the Tyrants were buried with some pretty distinctive jewelry, so you can have proof that you went into the tomb. The tunnels would have to have something you could take back too. That should be able to give you enough to work with when it comes to bragging rights."

He pursed his lips a moment, in thought. "If we're going to check the temple first for schematics, we'll need to time our entry there right. Do they hold mass at the usual times? Midnight, Sunrise, Sunset?" Most temples did, but there were always the oddballs out there that held them at odd times.

Felicia smirked in agreement at the comment about the mage that invented magical traps. She couldn't agree more with that statement, if only because of her own fears and not the difficulties they caused for thieves. Listening to him talking about the tombs and the tunnels she felt her stomach flutter slightly in excitement at the possibility of doing something no one thought possible. Felicia wasn't one who often bragged about her achievements as she didn't think she was that impressive, but this situation was a bit different.

When Julian asked about the mass times Felicia thought for a moment then nodded. "As far as I know they always have it at the usual times, and it's always precise as well. The times are always right on the dot. If it's ever late there's something extremely wrong." Felicia murmured her reply sitting back in her chair now as she looked at the man.

Julian smirked. "That's good. If everyone is in the main chapel, it will make getting where we need to get easier. What's the relic they have here, and how much are they charging to get in to see it?" Just about every temple, even the smallest one in the most backwater village had some kind of relic. Some were even genuine artifacts of holy power, most of the rest being genuinely associated with the saints and heroes they claimed to be (even if they lacked any powers beyond that which prayer and belief could bring). And of course, the frauds, though the Church tried their best to keep those out of the temples as much as they could.

Julian figured they could go as pilgrims a short time before one of the masses, get in to see the relic, and then hide out until mass got everyone into the chapel. They might have to worry about the stray guard or custodian, but a hell of a lot less people than if they went at another time. Money to get into the relic, unless they were charging an obsecene price, wouldn't be that hard for him to front as well.

"The 'relic', if that's what you want to call it, is a Paladin armor set that's supposed to be from the old holy days. It's supposedly from an ancestor of one of the original founders of Kaskar. Thanks to that fact it's a bit more expensive to get into see it." Felicia responded with a small frown now, she had seen the armor once before and the price per head didn't really seem worth it. "Let's see, I think the last time I saw it the price per view was... 40 gold pieces I believe. That was a few years ago though so there's a possibility the price has gone up for the viewing since then. I don't know what's reasonable in your opinion but if you want to go about getting in that way I think it'd be expensive to pay for both of us. At that price I would rather pay my own way in, and it's not exactly an easy task to just sneak in without getting caught. I don't think it'd be smart to attract attention before we even get in." Felicia commented as she stared at Julian in thought now. If he insisted on paying for both of them she wouldn't turn down the offer but being as careful as she was with how she spent her "acquired profits" it seemed a bit much to her personally.

"That's certainly true." Julian agreed. "People who can drop that much money on seeing a relic are likely to attract attention, and attention is the last thing we're looking for.." He'd been hoping for a cheaper relic, one that more people would be going in to see and they'd have a chance of getting lost in the throng. "Well, this isn't exactly my home turf, so if you have your own ideas on how we get into the temple archives, if that's what you want to go for, I'm willing to concede you the floor on coming up with how we do it."

Julian could easily pay the eighty for the two of them - especially in light of how much the statue could be worth - but not only did he not want to part with money if he didn't want to, it really wasn't necessarily the best way to go, given the fact that they probably wouldn't have a throng they could hide within.

Felicia shrugged her shoulders slightly. "It wouldn't draw as much attention as you would think. There are quite a lot of wealthy people here in Kaskar. However if two outsiders show up with the money to spend to see the relic I suppose it would draw attention to us in particular." she agreed thinking for a minute. "Getting into the temple isn't something I've looked into, so I don't exactly have any 'good' ideas for getting into there. While I'm all for going after the schematics, the risk really isn't something that's going to be good for either one of us." Felicia admitted before leaning back slightly in her chair as she thought about what to do. "It's going to be better to forget getting into the archives... for now." she smirked slightly, considering possibly attempting to get in there at another, better, time

"Alright then." Julian shrugged. "Then we don't have to do that. But that still leaves if there's anything else you intend to get done first. Or," He continued, shrugging. "Shall we set off?" He already had the supplies that he needed for this, but he didn't know if there were any preperations that Felicia wished to make. Julian took a sip of his drink and started back in on his sandwich, which had been largely ignored during their extended conversation.
