What was supposed to be a quick sweep in the city lasted much longer than Peter would have liked. There were gun shots reported by the police, and Spider-Man spent the whole night trying to track them down. With the help of police cooperation (The night shift police officers couldn't get enough of his jokes, he didn't know if it was exhaustion, or their boredom that made them laugh so hard) they found the culprits. Peter only got a couple hours of sleep, and woke up late. He dashed down the stairs after getting dressed , took a piece of toast and downed a glass of orange juice, kissed Aunt May on the cheek, and took off. he jumped on his skate board. He didn't have his driver's license and when he couldn't use his web shooters, his trusty board was by his side. He barely made it to class on time, and throughout the day he couldn't stop thinking about the problem he was in... Kissing Lexi last night was fantastic... but she thought it was someone who wasn't Peter... If he told her who he was, would she laugh? vomit? think he's joking? be furious? He kept this from her longer than he should if he did want to tell her... maybe he would understand that he was protecting those that meant the most to him...? When he came to he realized that class ended, and he was in the hall, walking to his next class. His spider senses went crazy all of the sudden, but he knew what was about to happen. With a small sigh he was pushed hard in to a locker, not feeling pain, but giving a fake wince as Flash Thompson, his most hated person in his life walk by, laughing, Rick Archer by his side, smiling back at him. He guessed he figured out who Lexi Roger's best friend was... He picked up his backpack, and merged back in to the crowd. As lunch came Peter didn't have time to bring anything from his home, so he bought a soda from the vending machine and a package of fruit snacks. A feast for a true super hero... He scanned the school yard for Lexi when he heard yelling erupt. "What where you're going, you dumb kid!" Flash Thompson yelled. There was a younger kid staring at the ground, his lunch all over the ground, stepped on by Flash int he collision. It was obvious Flash ran in to him while trying to catch a football. "You going to say something, kid?" He said to him, and pushing him a bit. Peter couldn't take it. He made his way through the forming crowd. "Back off, Flash." Peter said to him, standing in between the young kid and the giant senior. The crowd laughed. "Oh, hey Parker! Rick and I were going to visit you later, but it seems that you've made your way to us." Flash said. "Look, just let the kid go, alright?" "Not a chance. He got food all over my jacket." Peter couldn't resist himself. "Oh yeah, this jacket... I was going to ask you about it! Do they make it in men's or...?" He asked as if it were an honest question. Flash didn't like that. Peter could have easily dodged the flying punch. He could have countered and made him run in to a tree. The crowd would have been cheering for him... You owe the world your gifts. You just have to figure out how to use them His gifts weren't going to be used to stoop to his level. And with that mind set, Peter fell to the ground, his ears ringing, and the side of his head swelling and numb. The crowd laughed, and Flash made his exit. Peter stumbled to his feet. Some looking sympathetic, but not doing anything to help. Other laughed at how much of a dork he was... The freshman was still there, staring at him. Peter pulled out his wallet and pulled out five dollars. "here... for your lunch..." He said with a small smile on his face. The kid took it gratefully, saying thank you, and ran off. Peter spat blood on to the ground, picked up his backpack and his two dollar lunch, and looked through a swollen eye for Lexi.
