I think that was the point? We were talking about which daedra more likely to exterminate the Dwemer, right?
From what I know, Meredia seem to be care less about things unless it involved undead, which I doubt the Dwemer had all become such to invite Meredia's wrath upon them. 

That's why I think it was more likely to be Azura's doing than Meredia.
