@Xtreme @Ruby So in regards to Talon, just to get some background out of the way are we at a point when Dick knows about the Owls and his ancestor, or did we want to keep that under wraps for the time being?

That is currently under wraps. Though the reveal will come relatively soon

Gotcha, thanks. I asked primarily to see if I could use a one liner about a "family squabble." 8-)

Now I have to wonder whether the Riddler warrants a talon of his own. On the one hand, he's fairly influential figure in the criminal world and has his own plans for what should happen in Gotham (sort of), and could therefore be in the way of the court of owls. On the other, he's not exactly an arch villain, isn't a physical threat and doesn't want to destroy or rule Gotham, just to best the batman and use Gotham to that end.

I suppose we'll see.

Speaking of, how's Riddler reacting to Batman's disappearing?

Well, I was actually just thinking about that. At the start of the IC, he's only been gone three days (I think) but I imagine the Riddler would be one of the first to realise that he was gone as I'm using some of the elements of the Arkham series Riddler in this; sets up traps, uses surveillance, is a pompous jackass, accuses people of cheating, etc.

So I imagine he'll have a few seconds of "I won, he's fled!" before realising that without Batman actually admitting that Riddler is the smarter of the two of them, it's an empty victory. I'm planning for him to see a member of the batfamily (probably Nightwing) saving someone at that moment, at which time to he resolves to do two things. First, find out where Batman went. Second, intellectually crush every other member of the batfamily to prove to Batman he should never have left.

Or something along those lines. It's all a bit up in the air so far.

I can't decide if Damian would be incredibly easy to crush, be surprisingly capable against Riddler, or just be an endless source of frustration refusing to play along.

Or some mix of the options.

So much tension from the get go. *rubs maniacal hands together even tho he has no say in this matter*

So, when you say rates, you mean they've got a target on their head for a Talon to swoop down and attack, correct? ;o And the one that doesn't rate comes swooping in to assist, or swoops in at the wrong time, wrong place? Lotsa swooping, but that's a given (all these kids and their grappling hooks) sorry if i sound dumb

It wasn't an accident that the pairings are new vigilante/Cave approved vigilante.

With a shit show coming to Gotham City, Alfred's sending the kids to tell the new vigilantes to "go home while you can still make it there." Doesn't matter if they do, or don't, at least the Batfamily tried to save them.

So, no, it's not quite so random that these people are in the same scene together. The Batfamily will be going to find them.

Except Talia and Dick, but I already touched on that. The only thing I forgot to say about that one is that it had to be Dick going to the Nykawa Center--with a small army of Talons hitting that instead of the one Talon going for Dick, I'm not sure anyone but Dick survives that encounter.

They might, but I'm not certain of it, like I am with Nightwing.

He doesn't. And I gotta kinda think Eddie's gonna be a little hurt by that, and maybe wanna show this Court of Owls the mistake they made by underestimating and disrespecting him in this way.

Also, I can't wait for those petty/superior sumbitch lines from Eddie. ^_^

...keeping in mind the Riddler from Arkham I hated so much I, for the first in my history, completed a game to 100% just for the satisfaction of taking Riddler down.

It's not unusual for the kids to show up, though. Consider all the times Bat's outta town for the Justice League, or the Outsiders, or just to give an assist to the Boy Scout, or...etc, etc, etc.

Alfred's sending Nightwing in. The Cave is officially worried, Talia's timing is suspect, and it's a good way to gauge the nature of the League's presence in Gotham.

That's my logic behind this pairing, anyway. I'm kind of excited to read the scene.

That's actually exactly how I imagined things going with the game starting with a Nightwing/Talia encounter. Hahaha, great minds I guess.

I really like that idea. Though if I get my way, Dick will be taking on the cowl again to maintain the presence of a Batman. That said, I imagine Eddie would be one of the first to realize that this Batman and his Batman aren't the same person.

"How could they possibly pass up on my genius! Are these simpleton avian mockeries so daft as to completely miss the greatest intellectual threat to their entire operation?! Yes, why, that's the only explanation! This so called 'Court of Owls' simply lack the cognitive depth to recognize my brilliant mind and only focus on the brute, boorish strength of those insipid so-called heroes. They will rue the day they made the mistake of ignoring ME! THE RIDDLER!"

Dick will have his chance to take on the Bat-mantle in the game, oh yeah.

Ha, Eddie is totally going to wreck the Court's plans for that snub. How dare they underestimate him!

And yeah, Arkham Riddler motivated me to get 100% completion on every one of the games I've played (haven't played Arkham Knight yet) and hone my skills so I could eventually take him down.

For some reason through all the chaos with talons I can just imagine Velius and the robins fighting them off together and making snarky retorts at each other. Velius making a snarky remark about being part of the bats (tenporarily) or perhaps constantly giving a gray answer or even arguing against those who imply he's a bat or villain xD. His neutrality is quite confusing.~
