World SheetName: The Blackening
Summary of History:
The Blackening is a world plagued by the constant looming threat of vampires. Vampires (Homo Haemophagus) was a species of highly advanced hominids from the foothills of the Himalayas in the Tibetan Plateau. Following massive climate change and the rise of Homo Sapiens, H. Haemophagus was forced to migrate out of Tibet and into China, where they became aware of their impending extinction due to the lack of adaptability of their highly specialized biology. An advanced species with the ability to used sorcery, the kingdoms of the vampires decided to preserve their legacy in the form of Human/Vampire hybrids, who would meld the best elements of the vampire, with the adaptability of humanity. Within 5 centuries of the migration, vampire purebloods became extinct, but they remained in humans turned vampire created through alchemy.
Vampires remained powerful in China, earning their peak of power during the rule of the Heilong Dynasty in 2070 BC, but were eventually defeated by the Shang, and expelled from China, migrating into North Asia, where they thrived in the cold and dark environment. Vampires would not become a major threat to the world again until 768 AD, when The Black Empire arose in the area of Romania, moving to conquer all of the Balkans, and extend its power as far north as Kiev, as far west as Italy, as far east as Baghdad and as far South as Egypt. The Black Empire would embark on a policy of depopulation, zombification, and slavery in the lands it controlled until the 14th century, when it fell to a number of attacks, such as the rise of the Fatimids, the Establishment of Vladimir's Confederacy in Russia, Frankish conquest of Italy and Bavaria, and Turkic invasions. Following this, Migrant Groups from the East invaded and conquered sections of Europe and the Iranian Plateau, while several powerful empires appeared, and some fell, such as the collapse of the Caliphate of Cordoba and France. In this time Christianity began to take root in Asia, with the movement of the Naimans, Keraites, and Christianized Khitans into the East, where they took root in Korea and parts of China, spreading the Church of the East into Korea and Japan.
The Great War was the final major conflict of the world's history, and largely set up the borders of the current nations, although minor presences of vampires and uprisings continues into the modern day:
