This is a documentary of my Sid Meier's Civilization V game as I go through the last stages of early game. I will try to document my rage and any interesting happening through this page, in the form of a news report by an outside civilization in Alpha Centauri (though, surely, biased towards Japan, as that's the Civilization I'm playing as in this game). I hope you enjoy it, but please do not post in the IC, as that's where I plan to release the new reports.

Now, let us begin at the happenings of that fateful day, when the Ottomans fell.

So, the Ottomans were fairly nice to me, starting out. They were great for trade, and they were Friendly with me for several eras. But, as I entered the Modern era, disagreements in the Alliance of Japan, Russia, Egypt, the Ottomans, and Germany began to spread, and eventually they were just taking advantage of me for my research and my wealth. When they completed the Apollo Program, I decided I'd had enough. I wasn't going to let them go into space before my long term Friends, Russia, and I knew that if they hadn't gotten the gold from me that they'd been getting, they wouldn't have had that advanced Technology yet. So I went to war against them, and almost lost right off the bat.

This was my first real experience with full on Nuclear war. Both parties involved had nukes, but, technically, all the affected areas were in the Ottomans' territory. I got to a point where I would purchase a nuke, and then their nuke producing city would nuke it. Luckily, my save didn't go through, and I was able to predict their moves ahead of time and gain the upper hand. If it hadn't been for that, we would have been at a stalemate.

So, the strategy I went for in taking their territory was to go in from Alaska (through German territory), come in from my ports in England and Greenland, and then meet in the middle and move down. I didn't anticipate the issue I'd have with a) Nuclear Submarines, and b) Coastal or, Gods forbid, Island cities. Most of these, I was obligated to nuke early on, just so I could have a solid foothold in the region without taking too much damage. The easiest places to take, by far, were on the Alaskan front, where all the puppeted and weak formerly-German cities laid, and that allowed me to produce a huge amount of GDRs. I then focused on taking the East part of North America, while Rio de Janeiro, Alamaty, and Geneva held their own against the enemy. Once I took care of their occupied Singapore and was able to use the ocean tiles around it to boost my Naval strength, I was golden. I had some issues taking the Californian areas, and one or two got instantaneously razed by nukes, and the Islands they'd taken from Siam were a bit of an issue, as they were one tile wide and had to be taken from the sea by a GDR, but there was really no issue.

I did start to get pissed when they were arrogant enough to start building Spaceship Parts, and just moving them from Istanbul to their temporary capitals. I made it my goal to end these cities first, to keep them from going to space. The last city to fall was Inebolu, and it fell swiftly and in a blaze of glory. It did manage to take out a destroyer of mine, and I forgot what game I was playing and went to get a sign to put there before realizing that this wasn't Minecraft or Terraria or any other game with signs. That destroyer will be missed. However, the Ottomans fell with the grace of a fucking giant who was missing half of his right leg and a chunk of his left arm, and Japan emerged victorious without losing a single city. Now to begin the reconstruction period, cleaning up all that goddamned fallout.

An update, as usual, will come soon.
