"Thank you very much, I'll be sure to keep it on the down low." Dawkin said to the young trainer, to both his advice and his gift. He paused momentarily to look at the hordes of Volbeats but the trainer assured him it was nothing to worry about. Shrugging, but deciding he would defiantly investigate it after this, Dawkin scanned his opponent's Pokemon. "Interesting, then let us begin. Atlas, attack with Mudslap until it attacks back, then tackle it!"

The battle finished, Dawkin thanked the trainer for his time and gifts once more before turning to look at the Volbeat's direction more closely. To his surprise as he got closer he saw that they seemed to be converging on... Martin? Somewhat bewildered he could see Nincada seemed to be preparing to face the oncoming horde. "Hey Martin, need a hand?" Dawkin asked as he closed the distance, Atlas following with astonishingly rapid steps, mostly encouraged by the fact that Dawkin had promised him a treat after that battle and he hadn't received it yet.

‘Huf.’ Oaken made a noise with his eyes closed as Ren used something one couldn’t tell without sight. The noise felt like “as if you could fool me”. He felt underestimated. As if he could be fooled by something so simple. Every single detail was etched into his mind!

‘Horsea. Left side. Bubble!’ He commanded, and dutifully Horsea spun in that direction and unleashed the bubbles, blowing in and blowing out a spray of bubbles that actually came kind of close to Amelia and Joshua’s battle before bursting, a bit out of the way. … However, clear to anyone who could see, Oaken had given his command too fast. Shyn hadn’t been hit and could easily just wait out the bubbles, before dashing forward again at the now recharging water-Pokémon.

‘HORS!’ Horsea made a startled sound as he was pounced, suffering a tackle to his lowered defense, recoiling from the impact as he floated away from Shyn. He was already considerably damaged now, making up for the damage Shyn had suffered at the start of the battle.

‘... Back away. Keep a slight distance. Bubble it. … Try predicting where it will dodge and intercept.’ There was distinct disappointment in Oaken’s voice as he gave his instructions. The damaged Horsea quivered, hearing the tone, but followed the orders. Showing off his ability to be turned in any direction while swimming any other, Horsea floated off while always directed roughly towards Shyn, accuracy still decreased, and tried to attack using Bubble, spraying them where he’d predict his enemy to be.

Nincada used Harden, increasing his defense while Martin stained himself with a bit of dirt. Quite indeed, the sweet smell remained ever present, barely hampered by the dirt he had applied to himself. And, given that the smell had reached so far that so much of the swarm was heading here, the smell likely stuck to the dirt he threw on himself as well. Maybe not as heavily, but.

So, the swarm of shining lights arrived, the front covered by an uncountable amount of Volbeats. A number engaged Nincada, simply because Nincada was there, though due to limited space only a few could Tackle at the same time. Nincada was doing fairly well, Harden meant the bugs were doing barely any damage, but given the sheer amount of Volbeats his little stings didn’t do much to the swarm in turn, either.

Nincada wasn’t enough to hold back the swarm, that flew straight over him towards the source, Martin. By now, even if he tried to escape, the Volbeats would be faster. They flew straight for him, and… well, they didn’t attack, but numerous of the creatures DID attempt to land on him, two feet tall creatures that actually weigh a considerable amount each (17.7 kg official weight) trying to grab onto him and try to sniff out the source of the sweet smell (his head currently) while other Volbeats swirled around him trying to get in but could not due to others of their kind, and settled for simply flying around in circles as close as they could get.

Spinning around him, some going higher in order to avoid the others, the Volbeats were creating a swirling tornado of light flying around him, the wings buzzing loudly in all directions as more Volbeats arrived and just joined the circle, spinning around the source. Quite a pickle.

Ledyba didn’t actually react to Claire’s words, just staring blankly up into the air where his companions had vanished to. Then, Ralia sounded out, startling him, but causing Ledyba to snap out of it. He gathered his courage, and responded to the challenge with determination.

‘Ledyba!’ He took speed, his wings flapping into motion as he charged, aiming a flying Tackle towards Ralia. Ralia would be able to tell her he was still frightened, but determined to overcome it. This was the action that he came to the conclusion that he was supposed to do.

@Joshua Tamashii

Now, Joshua could have just had the two of them exchange blows, but it was clear to any onlooker that Litwick’s fire was more powerful than Pichu’s lightning.

‘Use your speed! Dodge the fire!’ Joshua commanded, smiling happily at the battle.

'Piiich!' With the new command, Pichu jumped aside, only lightly burned by the fire that flew past. The new movement meant that Pichu’s Thundershock also went largely awry, only small sparks actually hitting Litwick.

‘Alright! Be wary of fire, but use your speed, close in and Thundershock! You can do it, buddy!’ Joshua encouraged his Pokémon, and Pichu excitedly nodded, taking off towards Litwick at considerable speed, prepared to dodge.

Flame successfully dodged the Tackle, and then Donna threw the Pokéball. Cherubi gave a surprised noise as it was hit, and then the Pokémon was taken inside the Pokéball with a bit of red light. The Pokéball landed on the ground in front of the bush, and the pair watched as the Pokéball started shaking, a little back and forth as the Pokémon tried to get free…!

Then the Pokéball gave a final ‘click’ sound, and the ball stopped moving.

Donna caught Cherubi!

New Pokémon caught! Donna earned 1000 P!

Would you like to give a nickname to Cherubi?

‘Niiiiice.’ A completely random female Cooltrainer that was just walking by gave her a thumbs up while grinning, before proceeding to just continue heading down the road, having just briefly noticed the battle. Donna was still on Route 2, the flowers and vegetation growing happily around the sides. There are wooden bridges over multiple rivers running through Route 2 into Infested Woods. Some trainers appear to have taken to standing at the bridges and challenging those who try to cross, but you could avoid those if you desired to.

Pureplain City is right behind you, perhaps a quick visit to heal up Cherubi at a Pokémon Center wouldn’t be a bad choice. Infested Woods lies basically to your right at any time, just walk off the road and you’ll be there. To the left is the wet grass that has been moistened by the nearby lake that could contain any number of Pokémon. Further along the road to the left, right by the lake stands numerous huts, the bridges seem to imply fishermen’s huts. If you just head forward along the road you will eventually reach the mountains standing in the way between Route 2 and Lakewatch Town, the road starting to rise into a steady climb until finally ending with the dark entrance into the Wet Caverns…

A choice of what to do falls onto Donna once more.

‘Alright! Um. What can you do? Do whatever you can do!’ Karlos called to Cascoon energetically.

Cascoon stood immobile, but the silk around it tightened. Cascoon used Harden!

‘Um. Okay. But, do you know any attacking moves?’ Karlos asked, his enthusiasm fading a bit.

Cascoon silently directed its spikes forward, and shot them out towards the enemy. They were a bit more purple than they had been. Cascoon used Poison Sting!

‘Alright!’ Karlos looked happy again, as the Pokémon had showed off a reasonably cool move.

The spikes bounced off Atlas without penetrating in the slightest. It did not affect Atlas.

‘Er, um. Anything else?’ Karlos asked hopefully.

Cascoon stood silently, making no move, staring forward at the unhurt enemy.

‘Aw, maaan…’ The Bug Catcher grinned sheepishly as the rest unfolded as could be expected. Atlas mud-slapped the creature, dealing nearly no damage as it was not very effective on the highly defensive bug, but enough tackles after that and victory eventually inevitably was obtained.

‘Man. Bringing a Steel-type to Infested Woods. You ARE prepared. Haha.’ Karlos joked, laughing a bit.

Dawkin was victorious! Dawkin gained 322 P for winning!

Atlas grew to level 7! Atlas learned Headbutt!

‘Thanks for the battle. Good luck!’ Karlos gave his reply before Dawkin took off.

Following the stream of light to the source was now extremely easy. Just head towards the brightest concentration of light, as the rest of Infested Woods was now considerably darker as the Volbeats had taken off. He’d find a glowing tornado of light, uncountable amounts of Volbeats swirling around a single individual in the middle, and a couple of the Volbeats engaging a Pokémon a bit in front. Way, waaaaaaaaaaay above on a branch near the crowns of the trees, he might catch a glance of an Illumise with golden details, giggling and looking down at the scene in amusement, if he for some reason looked straight up.

He might still identify Martin standing in the middle, maybe. Dawkin’s voice might be hard to hear through the cloud of buzzing wings, but he could still offer to lend a hand.

Amelia calmly watched her opponent and listened to Joshua's instructions. It seemed they were going to try and take advantage of Pichu's speed to try and make this a close range battle, which they would probably win given how Pichu was faster. So, she would have to make that idea a bit less appealing to them and she hoped her idea would work.
"Litwick, aim at the ground at an angle and use Smog!" She said. Her partner did as instructed, releasing a cloud of poisonous gas at the grand at a angle, in the hope if it fanning out while still moving towards their opponent.

Martin Price

It wasn't long before it got even worse than expected. Martin was in the eye of the tornado of Bug Pokemon swirling around him. Nincada was ready for a fight but was having a hard time focusing on which Volbeat to attack. The sound of his trainer was overwhelmed by the countless wings buzzing in the air. Martin was trying to call out to Nincada to use Tackle on anything, but wasn't sure if he could be heard. Weighed down and hampered from trying to swat the oversized bugs off of him, Martin was having a hard time keeping them off. The dirt did even less than he hoped, and that wasn't much to start with either. Tucking his head close to his chest and shoving the things off of him, Martin was backing up to a tree, shrub, he couldn't see too well, but knew what to expect.

Martin backed through the forest, trying to feel for the leaves of a shrub to break his fall. Diving into one to try and limit the amount of Volbeats surrounding him. They were large and this should be good enough to slow them down getting to him. Nincada was trying to keep up with his trainer, with the help of them not paying any attention. Martin was trying to think of something to get him out of this, but was drawing a blank. This was that Illumise who started it. These things just want the scent, and he didn't have anything to get rid of it. "Nincada, hit the Volbeats who are going after me with Tackle. Try and focus on those ones." This was a decent plan for now, but he kind of needed some help.

Ren knew that even with Horsea's restricted accuracy, it would still be hard to close in and tackle it if Shyn attempted to dodge too much. So, she had to make a gamble once more. "Shyn, Tackle. When the hit collides, Flash him right in the eyes." Ren knew Shyn had hits to spare, Houndour being the Poke-shield he needed to continue late-game. Bubble wouldn't do as much damage to Shyn, but she had to ensure Horsea wouldn't be able to make a move if it survived this hit, just in case. Because if Horsea was able to withstand the incoming tackle, then it'd most certainly faint on the next one. In that time, Ren had to make sure Shyn simply out-lasted Horsea.

The hooded young woman understood Oaken's resolute nature to not give up. However, even in the face of battle experience, this was painful even for Ren to watch. Horsea wasn't as fierce as Shyn on the battlefield, and thus likely didn't like getting hit too much. Therefore, Ren would attempt to win the battle as quickly as possible. 'At least they're working hard for it... I like that.'

Dawkin was only able to catch a glimpse of Martin before he was fully encapsulated by the horde of Volbeats. Dawkin frowned. There was no way he could push the whirlwind of Pokemon himself and while Atlas might be able to muscle through he wouldn't be able to clear much of a path. Dawkin took a step back and was meet by the rattling of his newly gotten Super Repel. He glanced at it and back at the swarm. It should repel them, but he'd need to spray it on whatever they were congregating on. A small lightbulb went off and Dawkin looked at Atlas. He crouched down and took out the bottle showing it to Atlas while looking him in the eye. "I need you to take this in your mouth and run through that swarm to Martin. Give him the can. Don't eat it. When you're done come back to me. If you do I'll take you to an all you can eat buffet, okay? " Atlas's blue eyes widened at the sound of that and it eagerly grabbed the can in its mouth, careful not to crush and turned towards the eye. He lowered his had and charged through at full power, determined to win his prize. Dawkin stood back and watched Atlas tunnel through ferociously with a grin. If all went according to plan Atlas would pop into the middle of the storm next to Martin, and drop the Super Repel at his feet, though perhaps covered with a little bit of drool.

As the pokeball light fade away she run to the ball and taked it into her arms. Happily she looked the pokeball "Oh Flame, we got it" she said pointing the Cherubi's pokeball toward the Vulpix.

Smilling she throwed the pokeball and her new pokemon comed out of it " Welcome to the team...umm Rosa" she called the little cherry pokemon. Cherubi comed to her arms happily " Aww you're so cute" Donna said hugging the grass pokemon. Flame poked her legs exited " Good job Flame" she said crouching and petted the vulpix.

Sighing she stood up and looked at the forest again, wondering where she could go next " Lets see the map" she said sitting down to a small rock and digged a map out of her bag " ..hmm lets see, Pureplay city is here...we're probably somewhere here...Infested woods are not far, but the path goes away...we needs to past wet caverns to go Lakewatch town " she talked to her two pokemons which sit next to her.

She put the map back to her bag and taked her pokemons pokeballs " Now we have a long way to get wet cavern, maybe we will meet other pokemons or some trainers"she said calling her pokemons back to their pokeballs.

Putting the pokeballs back to her bag she continued her journal toward the wet caverns

Next action is:
3. Seek trainers

"E-eh? Ralia?!" She was a bit surprised. Claire didn't exactly want a battle, but hell, she wasn't about to say no to it. Losing wasn't fabulous, and she wasn't in the business of being unfabulous. Well, no time to think about it! She smirked, giving a small shake of her head pointing towards the Ladyba. "Alright then! Guess it's time for a bit of PvE action! Too bad no one has a camera, heh! Lets get this show going then!" She couldn't let Ralia down here after all. If she wanted a battle, then she'd get one. It'd be a good little test. Besides! She liked this Ladyba's spunk. It was probably still a little timid, but it seemed pretty determined not to let it hold it back.

"Double Team, Ralia!" Just as the words left her mouth, the Ralts gave an excitable cry as it made illusory copies of itself in hopes of helping her to evade attacks. Only unfabulous people got hit, after all, and this would be a good opening move. Ledyba probably wouldn't be expecting it, either which would mean they probably would easily be able to get a good hit in, barring any problems.

Smog hit the ground as Litwick shot it, and as Smog is a move that hits all adjacent Pokémon, it’s a move with plenty of capability to spread as intended. The cloud of poisonous smoke spread around the Pokémon. Now, an experienced trainer would know it wouldn’t hurt THAT badly to go through and could be worth it to get a decisive blow, buuut…

Pichu stopped short, and started jumping backwards to avoid being enveloped by the smoke. It was fairly easy to avoid, but it kept the Pokémon from making this a close-range fight.

‘Ooooo-kaaaay!’ Joshua smirked with an amused look from over there. ‘Well, then, Pichu, guess we’re just gonna have to Thundershock from a distance, eh? Be wary of flames, but directly after any flames it should be safer to aim and fire! Take the initiative!’

'Pichu!' The Pokémon acknowledged, taunting Litwick by running back and forth to make it harder to aim, and if enough time passed without action he’d aim a Thundershock in.

_____________________

@Pikmin Eye

Martin’s shaking off the Pokémon did manage to temporary wave off some of the bugs, but there were always more to take their place. Backing up against a tree did help ensure that they couldn’t completely climb onto him there, though multiple landed on the tree instead to crawl closer and search for the source of the smell. Nincada greatly benefited from from his increased defence as the very low-level Volbeats did almost no damage, but there were a lot of them. His tackles could temporarily get some bugs off his trainer, but this also resulted in him getting more Volbeats who wanted to fight rather than just sniff after Sweet Scent.

… Then there was an odd noise of startled Volbeat shouts as Atlas came charging through, the short Pokémon running headfirst into multiple bug-Pokémon that were flying at low altitude and sent them spiraling out of formation, sending parts of the carefully crafted tornado into disarray. Soon enough, Atlas had knocked enough out of the way that he came up to Martin’s leg, Super Repel in his mouth. Though, an Aron’s mouth is located beneath that shield-head of his, so it likely looked like it was sticking out from under his shield-face. It was free for Martin to obtain if he wanted to.

Martin received Super Repel!

@Eklispe

It had likely looked fairly interesting, how the extremely solid Atlas had charged into the tornado and suddenly low-level Volbeats had been sent flying in multiple directions like a huge set of bowling pins as the unstoppable force that was Atlas’ headbutt charged through them. Still, yes. Atlas managed his mission easily enough, approaching Martin. It helped that there were fewer Volbeats on that low altitude, and that they were all so low-leveled that it barely mattered. Still, they weighted a bit… but Atlas weighted more, and as such came with more force. Dawkin could just watch from his position for now.

… That is, until he heard the buzzing of some wings that got a little closer than the others. The Illumise had descended, an Illumise with golden details, floating down until she was about a head’s height over Dawkin’s height and several meters away.

The feminine Pokémon was looking at him, blankly, with neither amusement nor annoyance or any other emotion, other than perhaps supreme regal confidence in herself. She wasn’t actually doing anything, just hanging there in the air, staring at him from a somewhat higher vantage point. Something about his recent action might have spurred her to come down. His next action was up to him, but Atlas was kind of not here right now. The focused stare might have looked something alike to what someone who was asking “and what might you be doing”. If he figured this was the “queen” Karlos had been talking about or not, is of course up to him.

Horsea was becoming desperate, trying to bubble in the direction of Shyn. When Shyn got closer, it became harder to avoid them all due to the sheer amount of powered bubbles, but while he took some minor damage from the sheer spread he never took the brunt of any shower. It wasn’t long until he could do as his trainer had commanded, and Tackled the Pokémon.

‘SEA!’ The Pokémon shouted out, startled at the impact. However, Horsea wasn’t out just yet, and was so then flashed afterwards, sending the Pokémon sprawling a bit. It was now even blinder than before. Oaken had his fists clenched as he listened to how the battle was going, and was daring to try open his eyes to attempt viewing the scene again, though his vision was still a little shaky.

‘Smokescreen the ground.’ He commanded, his tone calm yet still. Horsea did not hesitate, following commands was one thing he could, and quickly spat out a shot of smoke which quickly enveloped around him. Oaken would then give his next command, but Ren could likely have given a command in-between the Smokescreen command and the next one.

‘Move around in the smoke, make yourself a hard target. Bubble en-masse. Don’t bother aiming too much, the general direction will do.’ Oaken commanded, staring as well as he could at the situation, and Horsea would start to follow the command, blinded enough so that the fact he had a fairly large-scale if low-powered move would come in handy. Bubbles would come flying soon enough. With the amount of damage Horsea had sustained, this was the last stand.

Donna moves on, seeking to make progress on Route 2. It doesn’t take long before she needs to cross one of the many bridges around to get over a river to get closer to the Wet Caverns. And, on said bridge, someone was standing in wait.

‘You! Yes, you!’ A young boy in a cap and an overly confident expression as he points at Donna. ‘You’re a Pokémon Trainer, right? Our eyes have met! This means we must have a Pokémon Battle! Prepare to battle!’

Youngster Joe would like to battle!

‘Go! Lotad!’ Joe didn’t even wait for a confirmation before he threw a Pokéball, which hit the wooden bridge and caused a light to flash before a blue Pokémon with a large tadpole on its head took shape, looking determined and potentially ready to fight.

Pokédex Entry #270 – Lotad, the Water Weed Pokémon. They live in clean ponds and lakes, where they float with their large leaves above the surface, and they serve as ferries to smaller Pokémon. They rise climb ashore only in search of cleaner water. If it’s dehydrated, the leaf will wilt.

They were totally ready and awaiting Donna’s first move.

However, as this isn’t actually a video-game, Donna can decline if she wants to, assuming Joe isn’t a violent villain who attacks her anyway. And Joe’s not that bad. Probably. Maybe. Hopefully. You don’t really know with Joe. Joe may just be secretly wicked. Don’t trust Joe. Joe might be a scary person when you get to know him. He might be a jaywalker. Eeep.

Double Team creates illusionary copies in the immediate vicinity, which likely cannot exist too far from the main body unless the move is practiced. Of course, only the real one could do actual attacks. Experienced Pokémon likely knew how to tell the signs of the real body in the midst of the copies, while experienced Double Teamers knew how to hide those same signs. Ledyba… was not one of those experienced Pokémon.

‘Led...!?’ The Pokémon sounded out, startled, as it suddenly approached more enemies than it had been expecting. It steeled itself and aimed for one, passing straight through the illusion and scrambled to turn back around, to Tackle the next. Of course, this would give Claire and Ralia plenty of time to consider their next move.

❄Erika Olson❄

Erika watched with a tinge of anticipation as her opponent prepared a counterattack. The ex-lab assistant began but stopped short of completing her command. An out loud explanation was short to follow and Erika felt her cheeks redden slightly in a bit of stolen pride. Disable. She was toast in this fight, glancing down at her Pokedex for Snorunt's moveset if that had been her reality. Vivia was sparing Erika a complete loss in favor of her disadvantaged situation, which was good news for Erika. Although there was something to be said about the 'going easy' on her.

Still, this was going to deter Erika from continuing as she shot her hand forward pointing towards her opponent. "Sno, double team!"

Sno quickly moved from side to side forming a line of illusionary doubles of the snow hat Pokemon. The goal was to provide a miss but this would have been Erika's first mistake not realizing that Venonat's earlier move, foresight, would see through Sno's illusion.

"Wh-what?!" Erika stuttered as she saw Venonat's supersonic waves hit Sno causing the illusionary doubles to all stumble about dizzily. "Uh... P-powder snow!" Erika commanded, her confidence wavering slightly as she witnessed the multitude of Sno's drunkenly stumble about before falling flat on their face. With Sno planted, Double Team wore off as she could no longer move to keep up the illusion.

Erika clasped a hand to her face as her cheeks reddened further. "Come on! Powder Snow! You can do it Sno!", Erika shouted keeping her eyes covered nervous to see the results of the next few crucial moments. It was likely Venonat could make a move before Sno managed to stumble to her feet and summon forth a flurry of snow again.

Amelia sighed in relief in her head as the Pichu backed off. It was now going to be a long range battle and she knew she had more options. Given how her opponent was only relying on one more she could assume that it was the only move he had, the only one that would do damage to her, or that he simply liked offensive moves only. Either way, she knew she didn't want those lightning strikes to hit and she luckly had a move that would help with that.
"Litwick, Minimize!" She said, her partner responding by silently compressing it body, trying to make itself smaller, which would hopefully help in making it harder to hit.

Upon making the Illusory copies, Ralia had already moved to the side, letting one of the copies take its place as Ledyba phased right through it. Success! Of course, there was only so much double team could do. If they still got hit, then they'd likely take a bit of a beating so they should take care of that first before doing anything. The illusory copies numbered about three, about all that Ralts could manage at the moment but it was enough for them to be able to fool the Ledyba for now.

"Alright Ralia, lets give 'em a show!" Not missing a beat, Ralia and her illusory copies assembled closely together, the one Ladyba moved to attack next merely twirled through the bug type as if it was dancing and quickly joined the others. "Use Growl! Follow it up with a Confusion!"

All the Ralts raised their hands, doing a little twirl in apparent preparation to attack - but only one of the copies, the real one actually did. It came from the one on the far left of the line, but as soon as the attack was over all of the Ralts twirled and shuffled, as if they were performing some dance for an unknown audience. If the Ledyba was paying attention, it would notice that Ralia had moved towards the middle of the group.

Martin Price

The storm of Bug Pokemon still swirled in the tornado that was surrounding Martin. Off in the distance a smaller Pokemon was tackling everything in its way. Martin looked over and recognized it as an Aron. Did Dawkin show up to help him, or was this a different one? Either way, it was holding an item in its mouth. Grabbing the can from its mouth, he realized this was what could help. A Super Repel! Quickly grabbing the can, Martin brandished it like it was an all powerful weapon, spraying it on him, around him, no amount seemed like overkill in this situation. The smell was indescribably bad. No wonder why this is so effective, a sensitive bug looking for a Sweet Scent would be sorely disappointed by this foul odor. Finally catching a break, and another thanks to being saved by someone else.

Nincada was getting into fights with it's new opponents. He tried his best to get them off of Martin, but there was only so much a small Bug could do to help. Some of the Volbeat were turning their attention to Nincada, who was still ready to fight whatever was against it. Martin gave a pat on the head of Aron and gave a small reply. "You saved my day, did Dawkin send you, pal?" Martin would be approaching his own Pokemon ready to start a fight if they still wanted one. This was doubtful seeing as he just used a can of Super Repel, but you never know what would happen next. The next thing on his mind was finding a place to buy a couple of those just in case he ever found himself in such a predicament again. That, and finding the Pokemon that started all of this.

Dawkin initially dismissed the Pokemon watching him but something made him took a second look. Perhaps it was the odd coloration or the confidence that echoed his own. Regardless Dawkin scanned it with his Pokedex, finding his suspicions confirmed. This was no ordinary Pokemon. He only spent a moment deliberating his next action. He had 5 Pokeballs, therefore a missed attempt or two wouldn't matter overly. Dawkin gave the floating Pokemon a smile and gestured to the side with his head: right before a Pokeball came hurtling towards it. He'd subtly given it an underhand pitch with surprising force while hoping to distract it long enough for the Pokeball to land. Between that and disruption of the swarm he hoped to at least momentarily contain it, though he doubted it'd stay in there long.

Atlas made a pleased noise at being patted and bobbed his head up and down, though it was hard to tell whether it was in response to being patted or an answer to Martin's question. Regardless his eyes widened as he suddenly remembered part two of the plan, as well as the associated reward. Without waiting a moment longer he turned around and charged towards Dawkin. If any Volbeats remained they’d be unceremoniously shoved out of the way until Atlas arrived at his destination, mere moments after Dawkin hurled the Pokeball, exactly as he had hoped for. If the throw was successful Dawkin would tell Atlas to headbutt the Illumise as soon as it broke free, if the pokeball missed a mud slap would be used instead to attempt to bring it down.

Through the use of Foresight, Venonat could track down which of the illusionary copies was the real one, and she directed the sound-wave in his direction, causing a sensory overload and Sno became Confused.

‘Alright! Now, Tackle your confused opponent!’ Vivia directed, pointing forward at Sno.

‘Ven!’ The Venonat replied, and took off running forward at Sno’s struggling form, when…

She succeeded. Despite the confusion, Sno successfully managed to unleash a spray of Powder Snow, directed at her opponent. Vivia’s eyes twitched a little at the frustration, but the battle continued. Sno was still confused.

‘V-Ven!’ The Venonat sounded out, having taken her second hit of the match and it was building damage, but yet the Pokémon charged forward through the cold to deliver a tackle of its own, and Venonat would likely reach just as Sno could make her next reaction.

'Piiich!' Pichu noticed the lack of flames, not to mention likely heard Amelia’s voice giving a different command, and gave Thundershock a try. The little Pokémon charged his electricity and let the sparks fly over the slowly fading smog, striking in the vicinity of Litwick.

Due to that Litwick had not moved yet, he was still struck by parts of the lightning, despite being smaller. However, it didn’t do more damage than it would have usually, and he was yet still good to go, and the coming attacks would have more trouble hitting the smaller body of Litwick.

‘Keep it up, buddy! Dodge fire, shoot lightning! No fire? Shoot!’ Joshua smiled brightly as he gave Pichu the commands, looking like he was genuinely enjoying the match, and Pichu looked much the same, the little yellow mouse smiling with determination as he took off, running in a circle to become a harder target for Litwick.

Ledyba was… apparently not paying attention. After having been hit by the cry of Ralia, lowering his attack, he spun around to face the three again and charged. After having briefly glanced over them, he took speed again and charged one of them.

‘LED!’ … Though, regardless if he had been just unlucky or made an incorrect assumption, the bug charged the wrong illusion, which then resulted in him being hit by a Confusion, sending him briefly spinning off to one side before turning to face the copies again.

‘Ledyba...!’ Still in the game, though somewhat damaged, Ledyba tried to aim himself so that he would Tackle through multiple copies at once, though as this likely grew difficult if Ralia moved as well, he’d at least try to adjust to get two…!

As soon as he applied the Super Repel on himself, the Volbeats all around scattered in all directions. That smell did not agree with them at all. It was like a minor explosion had taken place at the heart of that shining tornado, and the Volbeats spread out and fled out, back into the rest of the woods. This included the Volbeats which Nincada had been fighting, as the smell was just too unappealing. Honestly, Nincada and Atlas would smell it too, but be somehow less affected by it by virtue of being trainer-Pokémon.

Now, as Atlas spun around and headed back, a distinct lack of Volbeats anywhere near Martin after that, Martin would be able to clearly see the scene before him, Dawkin currently facing the Illumise…

@Eklispe

The Illumise briefly tilted her head curiously a little as Dawkin gestured, though that quickly turned out to be a trick. The ball sailed towards its target… but unfortunately, it seemed like the opponent was a little too experienced for that. The bug quickly side-stepped, in a movement that looked a lot like a Quick-Attack, but used for the purpose of dodging. No problem with the Pokéball, it just hit a tree and fell harmlessly to the forest floor, it could be picked up again, assuming Dawkin remembered it. The Illumise smirked playfully at Dawkin, looking mildly amused at his action. She heard Atlas coming, but… she was flying higher than Dawkin’s height. She could dodge.

Illumise kept her distance, and with considerable speed dodged Atlas’ Mud-Slap. Every move looked calculated, previous battle-experience obvious and she kept her eyes focused on Dawkin rather than Atlas as she dodged, her look mischievous.

‘Illumise~’ She sounded out happily, as she took off towards him, a slight pink gas shaping along her movement. It appeared she intended on using Sweet Scent again. Given how high in the air she was, there was little Atlas could do with a physical move-set to stop her. Chances to take her down before she attracted a new storm of Volbeats looked fairly grim, when-

A stream of fire suddenly flew through the air, in-between the Illumise and Dawkin. The Illumise stopped short, her eyes widening and staring at the flames. They were pretty intense, clearly a high-level move, a stream of fire causing heat more than warming up the surrounding individuals and likely fairly difficult to look at, it being so bright. Martin, who had been able to oversee the situation, likely saw it approach.

‘Not this time, “Queen”. Play it nice.’ A commanding voice of an older woman sounded out from further away, someone approaching.

The lady, she who had stood in the distance, now stood considerably closer. She had a white and gold-colored dress of sorts, her black long hair tied up in a shape yet still hanging far. Her expression was calm and serene, her legs long and body fairly tall. In front of her and at her side stood what was unmistakably a fox on two legs, her limbs red with fur hanging alike a robe and torso as well as head and snout in yellow, long yellow tail behind her and her hand holding forth a stick with a flaming end, clearly just having been used to fire the previous stream. The fox’s expression was confident, yet calm.

‘… Illum…’ Didn’t look like Illumise was too fond of that command, but nonetheless, didn’t look like she was intending on defying that one. Unless otherwise addressed, or attacked, she’d turn around and start flying off into the distance.

‘She has become more unruly lately. Been making Outer Infested Woods less safe…’ The woman muttered, before smiling at Dawkin. ‘Thank you for your help. I was having trouble thinking of any way to solve the situation that wouldn’t have resulted into hundreds of torched Volbeats, a solution which would have been highly regrettable, not to mention possibly dangerous for the young man over there.’ Referring to Martin. Delphox stashed her wand into her… sleeve of fur…? ‘Phox!’ … Before “hmpf”-ing by herself, looking at the two present young men.

Amelia winced as she saw her Litwick get hit by the lightning but her partner seemed fine enough to keep going.
C'mon think. There has to be a way out of this. She thought to herself, watching the enemy Pichu as it ran around her partner, keeping it's distance. Litwick had a good variety of moves but she wasn't sure which of them would be useful right now. But, if she combined them in some way... Got it!

"Litwick, use smog to create a smokescreen as big as you can!" She shouted.

"LIT!" Her partner replied before jumping up while taking in a big breathe. When it released said breathe, it came out as the same poisonous smoke and was aimed directly underneath Litwick, spreading out over a larger area then last time and having a bit of height to it as well. Once Litwick landed in it, Amelia focused until she could figure out where the enemy Pichu was. Once she figured that out, either because the enemy pokemon let out a cry or another Thundershock, she issued her next order. "Litwick, Astonish!"

Her partner would come out of the smokescreen it had created and dash right up to Pichu before letting out a startling shout, in the hopes of making it's enemy flinch.

Dawkin let out a quiet tch with his tounge in dissapointment that his attempt had been foiled. Obviously this Illumise was no newbie when it came to trainers. She'd antcipaited his throw even with the distraction and manged to doge it. Further more rather than looking at the Pokemon that launched the attack she kept an eye on him, allowing her to see know Atlas's actions before he did them. She began flying towards him and Dawkin reached into his belt for another Pokeball to keep her getting close enough to do anything but a stream of blinding fire that made Dawkin reflexively cover his face. When he lowered his arm he saw the Illumuse looking unsure of herself and commanded off by someone unknown. After waiting to make sure it left Dawkin turned to face the newcomer that had helped him. She was wearing a wonderful flowing white dress dress with exoborent amounts of black hair. The Delphox next to her was clearly the source of the flame and obviously strong in its own right, as a quick scan revealed.

Dawkin gave a pleasant smile "Ah well I was just helping out a friend, we both started our journey today you see. Though I must thank you in kind, I surely would have been hard pressed to deal with her on my own." The statement grated on Dawkin slightly. To think he'd nearly been stymied by a Pokemon on the in the starting area, if the deeper woods had Pokemon even as strong as her he might be overwhelmed by just one of them. Combined with the fact he was now down a super repel he was rethinking things. Obviously he'd just seen even wild Pokemon could have surprising amounts of strength. He hadn't given the kid's statement enough credit before.

"My name is Dawkin and my friend there is named Martin. I'm sorry if this seems bothersome but are there any tips you could give as an experienced trainer?" Asking for advice was equally irritating, but Dawkin was not above appearing ignorant to improve himself, even if doing so was abrasive to him. Atlas brushed up against his leg and looked up with those adorable blue-eyes hopefully. Dawkin let out a short laugh and ran his hand over Atlas's rocky frame, "Don't you worry, you'll get your reward soon enough." Reassured that he had not been forgotten Atlas examined the Delphox and trainer curiously, not quite running over to them but obviously interested.

The copies scrambled to twirl apart, but they weren't fast enough. The first attack, they had a small element of surprise but Ledyba was just a tiny bit faster than Ralts without it. Whether it was luck or the Ledyba managing to figure out which Ralts was the real one, it didn't particularly matter. The first one, Ledyba passed right through as though it was nothing. The second one though, was sent reeling backwards as the Ledyba slammed into Ralia. The Ralts let out a small cry of pain as it was pushed backwards, Claire flinching slightly as the hit connected. Ouch, that looked like it hurt, though Ralts wasn't down for the count. The small pokemon managed to get back to its feet, its clones forming another line as they moved about, making sure to try and confuse the Ledyba about which was the real one once again. Perhaps taking refuge in the center was a bad tactic - she should have been on the edge so she could have moved easier. Next time, she wouldn't do something like that.

"It's alright Ralia," Claire shouted. "Hit 'em with another confusion!"

In unison, all of the Ralts made the motion to attack at once.

Donna Riverwell

She was just entered the bridge, when some small annoying looking kid standed there like was waiting for someone. First she didn't mind about the boy at all, but suddetly the boy challenged her up of nowhere.
She didn't even get time to reply, when the boy called his pokeball into the air and weird looking pokemon comed out. She taked her pokedex out and scanned the grass/ water type Lotad.

Something about the boy annoyed her and his pokemon type was just too hard to both of her pokemons. Of course battling the boy she could lever up her vulpix and maybe Cherubi too. Thought her vulpix was a fire type and Cherubi was injured...so maybe she could skip this one.

Only nodding to the boy and his Lotad, she walked past them and continued her walk at the bridge. There seemed to be trainers around so it could only be a matter of time which one will try to challenge her again.

Martin Price

The can of Super Repel worked far better than Martin expected, the various Volbeats fleeing as far away as possible. With the two of them finally done with this fiasco, he still had to find where Dawkin was, no doubt somewhere nearby. The eruption of a large strem of fire was already looking to be a good spot to start looking. Nincada followed Martin at his own speed, the few hits still stinging slightly, but nothing too bad. Martin finally caught up to where the fire came from and saw not only Dawkin, but some lady and her Pokemon. Being the new trainer he was still, Martin took the moment to pull out his Pokedex, he knew most bugs, but that was as far as his knowledge covered. With the same mechanical voice filling him in, it sounded like a Delphox.

Martin waved at Dawkin as he approached, "Hey Dawkin, thanks for helping me out back there. Not sure where you found the repel can, but I kind of used it up. I see you took the same route as well." Martin almost forgot the lady was there and turned to face her. "Where are my manners? My name is Martin and this is Nincada, what's your name?" Martin held out his hand, offering a handshake, but making sure not to awkwardly be left hanging if she refused. Nincada had no attention on the lady and was instead staring at Delphox.
