Bruce looked over the students that had gathered, and nodded. "All those wishing to be apart of the task force, be in my office in ten minutes. Do not keep me waiting"
Connor watched Bruce leave the room, glancing over at the students that had stood up. He wanted to simply stay at the academy, with Kijani. He turned to her, giving her half a smile. "I'm sorry. I can't just seem to stop the hero complex" He didn't know if Kijani was going to come or not, wondering if she might not be ready for that.
In anycase, he gave her a quick kiss. He then walked over to where Katherin was dealing with a new student, one he hadn't met yet.
"Hachi right? Look, freaking out, losing control of your powers isn't going to help them. Your brother was one of them? I'll happily take you with the rest of the team, but you have to prove to me that you can control yourself, okay? Calm down. It will all be okay" He said, keeping his voice calm, he kept his gaze on Hachi.
"Deep breath, okay. Lets do it together. In. One two three. Out. One two three. In" Connor wondered how many times he'd have to do this today with out of control freshmen. He glanced at Katherin, and gave her a smile "I think freezing him might just cause more trouble. We don't need him coming after us mad because you chilled him and screwing up a misson. Better to have him calm down himself, and be in control to help, don't you think?"
He looked back to Hachi, to see if he had helped.
Kalinda was beyond relieved at Griffin's words. She trusted the boys completely, and she hadn't expected anything but acceptance from them. To her, they were a constant in her life. And she'd be forever grateful for their help. "Thank you" She said softly, "You constantly say you aren't good with people, Griffin, but you are. It's just different to Zack" She led the boys towards where she had seen Kyle disappear, soon approaching it, she glanced around, as if expecting another attack.
Penelope leaned back, setting the small plane on autopilot, she rose to approach her lovely little prizes. Five students, all her own. She studied them all, quite pleased with who she had taken. She had had to go in quickly and get out even quicker. And she had got two of the old bats precious family. She knew that that would cause the old bat to send out all he had, but he wouldn't be able to find her.
Chuckling, she nudged them all to see if the mind induced sleep was wearing off, before trotting to the small kitchen aboard the ship, and taking out a chocolate bar from the fridge, happily eating it as she watched her charges.
"Oh, I can't wait for them to wake! How much fun will I have with them, I wonder? Teh. Must make sure to control their powers, don't forget!' She spoke outloud to herself, and laughed, rocking back into her chair.
Kyle woke up slowly, blinking and yawning. He kept his head still, but tried his best to look around. It seemed as if most everyone here was still knocked out save a few who were waking as well. It took him less than a moment to realize he was able to move his arms and legs. Very suprised, Kyle sat up and looked at his captor. He stretched his arms and yawned again.
"Good morning! Got any more chocolate? Im staaaaarving."Penelope watched Kyle come to, seemingly unconcerned about being kidnapped. "Nope. its aaaaaallll mine. Be a good little prisoner and maybe you'll get some later" She said, leaning back in the chair, "And it isn't morning, I'd say its only oohhh, a little while since I scooped you up!!' She laughed, and waved the chocolate about, before biting into it, almost like a child.
Kyle frowned slightly. That was rude. And he was being so polite. He looked around and saw his classmates better, and when he saw Phoebe he became....irritated was the most polite word.
"That wasnt very nice. Im hungry and you kidnapped us. The least you could do is give me some chocolate. What if we played a game, and if I win I get some chocolate."Penelope tilted her head, as if perplexed by the offer. She frowned slightly, staring at the half eaten chocolate bar, "Don't get your knickers in a twist, i kidnapped you to have both fun and to tick off old batsy. And to begin my own little....army" She laughed, and then said "Fine, what is this game?"
Kyle stood up and smiled.
"Ok Ok so I used to play this game all the time with Red Hood and Red Robin.Kyle pulled out a deck of cards form his pocket.
"Luckily I always keep a deck of cards on me. No joker card included of course."Kyle walked over and sat in front of his kidnapper. He shuffled, and dealt them both half the deck of the deck of cards.
"Egyptian pack rat. Rules are simple. We dont look at the cards, and we take turns placing the top card in our hands in the pile. If its the same number, or type of card, you slap the pile. The first one to slap it gets the pile. The goal is to have all the cards." Kyle went first placing the top card on his deck from his hand to the now made pile.
"You know, If my grnadpa doesnt get here first, my father will. He is the better version of Batman so you better hope my grandpa gets here first."Penelope quickly took the rules from Kyle's mind even as he explained them. She debated a moment, figuring she could cheat quite easily with this. All it would take was simple illusion. She titled her head at his words, quite amused at his faith in his father, in old batsy. "You do realise that if either of them try to do anything, they will break their precious contract and cause what would likely be world war three?
Its your fellows who will be sent to save you, and just how delicious is that? Either they fail, and I get more people for my army, or they succeed and....I'll just have to try again. Do you have faith in your comrades?" She laughed, leaning forward.
Kyle slapped another card down and chuckled.
"I...did forget that. But that doesnt mean they wont send someone reliable. Im sure my family will deploy the best force they can. It what family does. Its what love does."Kyle leaned forward and poked the girl on the nose gently, almost teasingly.
"If you want, you dont have to do this. If you want a friend, I will be your friend."Penelope laughed, and slapped a card down, quickly making and illusion that it was the same number as Kyle's, and then slapping her hand on the pile and taking it. "I don't need a friend. I don't have to do this, you're right. But I want to do this" She chuckled, "Its just so much fun. And it has the added benefit of making the old bat look bad!" She giggled, putting a card down, and grinned.
"Ah, family. Love. Such pleasantly...disgusting things, really. No doubt you are right, and the old bat will send the best of your classmate, but I'm not worried about that. No, I want them to come! Let them come! Oh, I hope they send that pretty little girl who broke through my illusions so easily!"
Kyle paused slightly at the end of her sentence, thinking of only one thing. Kalinda was able to break through the illusions pretty decently.....could she be.....Kyle slapped another card.
"Yea. She is real pretty, and just so you know I would give my life to protect her. Better hope she doesnt come."Kyle had a thought.
"You know the way you seem to hate my family and the way you talk.......Ive seen you before....or something I cant remember. Have we met?"Penelope put down a card, chuckling at his words. "Ah, how sweet. Such dedication." She smiled, and tilted her head, leaning back, "Oh, I don't think you'd forget me quite so easy if we had met" She waited for him to set down another card, before once more setting down a card, this time using her illusionary powers to make it of the same type, slapping her hand down and taking the pile.
"As for hating old bats, well, that's my business"
"Oh cmon why not tell me," Kyle said as he put down another card. It when then he realized she was more than likely using illusions to cheat. But Kyle didnt care. The objective here wasnt to win.
"Ok what if.......I promise to show you my secret blue steel look? Its a secret look only a few prominent people get to see."Kyle looked away then snapped back at his kidnapper, making a comedic modeling look.
Penelope laughed and shook her head, "Puh-lease. Not gonna work" She said, pushing Kyle back, "And I know what you're doing, trying to keep me distracted. Are you hoping I'll slip? Make a mistake, and you'll have your little friends to back you up? " She laughed again, amused at her own questions.
She dropped down another card, "Childish tricks won't work on me. I'm the only one who can do childish tricks!" She giggled, leaning back again, twirling her seat around, looking at the monitors as she did so, and looking back to Kyle.
Kyle grinned and tried his best to be convincing.
"Your right. I am so so so...,"Kyle stopped and pretended to check his wrist as if checking the time
,"Sorry. You got me. You figured me out."Kyle slapped a card down, then slapped the pile seeing as how his card was the same as hers. He scooped up the pile. Kyle hoped what he had hoped would happen would happen soon.
"oooh the little itsy bitsy baby robin thinks he can trick me, how cute!" Penelope cackled, and she slammed down a random card, not really paying attention to which one it was, spinning in her chair once again.
Kyle smiled as he looked at the card that was placed down. A few moments later black smoke started to billow out of the card, filling the small circle around Kyle and Penelope with black smoke. Kyle leaped to his feet and swiftly and silently darted around. He used his hearing rather his sight to move and attempted to subdue Penelope with a strike to the neck.
Penelope stopped spinning as the smoke billowed out. Within seconds, she had located Kyle by her telepathy. She shifted slightly, laughing still, "Stop" It was a command, both speaking outloud and in his mind, as she leaned back in the chair to avoid the blow.
Kyle missed the strike, and jumped back. He back flipped back until he was out of the smoke. He landed his last flipped but nearly lost his balance. He was able to ignore the telepathic command from Penelope in the heat of the moment, but now that he was out of the moment it started to hit him. Kyle resisted the best he could.
"N-ni-nice one......*cough*......Whats you-your name again?"Penelope rose from the chair, walking over towards Kyle, she walked around him, stalking, almost like an animal prowling around its prey. "Augurey, is my Alias" She replied, pushing Kyle down so he was beside the others again. "I'm not so foolish as to reveal my true name to my prisoners. Which, lookie here, they're waking!! Ah, how sweet!! More people to tort-I mean talk to!" She laughed, and returned to her chair, taking another bite of the chocolate, she chuckled merriily.
Kyle smiled ever so slightly.
"Just promise me that I am your favorite."Penelope leaned back, setting the small plane on autopilot, she rose to approach her lovely little prizes. Five students, all her own.
