@dabombjkGrant walked through the city streets, tapping his thumb against his closed hand. This was a habit of his when he became extremely nervous, which does not happen often. The only times Grant has ever done this was when he first started writing, when he became a vampire, when he met Piper, and when he lost his 120 year old verginity to Piper recently. Piper.........Grant sighed quietly. She would probably be upset that he left. But how could he explain? Grant shook his thoughts out of his head. He had a very important mission.......
Grant stopped in front of a museum. He had traveled hours to be here, and now that he was here Grant started tapping his thumb even faster. He had been given pretty gutsy assignments before, some that have even almost killed him, but nothing like this before. Grant had been given his assignment and been driving at an insane speed to this city by someone under the orders of his employer. Grant coudl smell Piper, even though she was not close to him. Grant assumed that meant that she was in the city and on her way here. Grant walked forward and walked into the muesum.
Grant walked over to the security guard to the left of the inside entrance and the guard spoke to him softly.
"What is the color of night?""Sanguine my brother."The guard nodded and led him into the security guards office. The two guards already inside the office who were watching all the cameras were quickly knocked out by the security guard leading Grant. Then the guard spoke to Grant.
"You have twenty minutes. Go."Grant nodded and left the office, walking towards the very back of the museum. Kyle quickly climbed the ladder in the back that let him get on the roof.
Nora and Piper walked into the backdoor of the council's museum and went inside. Nora asked to see the council. They were in high demand these days. Since the compact was broken they had a lot of answering to do and a lot of decisions to make. Piper sat back and looked around. She was interested in everything in the building. It was so ancient and it felt a little creepy like the old vampire movies she used to watch as a child. She had a funny smirk on her face at the irony of it.
Piper and Nora stood as the council members filed in. Nora watched them as the sat and she was well aware that they were here because it was her who had made the request. She wasn't much younger than some of them and she needed to know what was going on.
Once they had acknowledged the room Nora stood up.
"My name is Nora Baker and I would like to thank you for accepting my request. I know you have a lot going on and that is precisely what I need to know. Who broke the compact and how do we fix it?"Grant quickly broke the vent door, jumped in, and slid down the vent until he softly landed on the bottom. Grant smirked to himself.
"One of the few perks of being a plague amongst humanity." Grant crawled through the vent system, smelling his way through. For most this might have been a problem. Something the council obviously did not over look was the creatures of the nights sense of smell. The museum was old enough and had tactically placed plants and such to throw off anyone's sense of smell. Grant was indeed fortunate his was better than most. He could not determine anything with clarity but he still had the smell of a group of very old, very powerful vampires. Grant crawled until he found the correct path to the basement. Even a basement needed an air filter system.
Grant could smell he was in the basement, but he was not in the same room as the council. Grant bit his right index finger, and as his poisonous blood dripped form his finger, he used his will to form it into a small knife shape. He held his blood knife in his hand and easily sliced a hole through the vent. He made sure that the hole he made did not drop the cut out part, and he dropped to the ground. Grant willed his blood back into his body, then willed the cut he made on his finger to heal. He could not do that with major or even medium sized injuries, but with small self made cuts like that they were no problem. Grant would normally have to worry about the scent of his blood but he was using enough scent blockers that he was confident no one would detect him. They havent before.
Then Grant sniffed the air and shuddered. Nora was here already. And so was....Piper! Grant cursed his luck. He wished to end the assignment without him being at risk of detection from Piper. He wanted to keep her out of this. Grant shook his head moved on. Grant sneak into the room next to the council, and listened, waiting for his chance.
Nora learned that it was indeed a bomb but the vampires in question denied it. It was believed to be a setup. Piper listened but was more interested in the building. They were trying to get the humans to use forensics or something. Piper was looking at the pipes and the dripping in the corner. She thought she heard something in the shaft above. She assumed it was probably a bird or a squirrel and ignored it for the most part.
Nora seemed to be slightly more agitated when she turned to look at Piper who came to stand by her. One of the council members was paying particular attention to Piper and he stood up.
"You! You are hybrid. You are not welcome here! You are not one of us!" Piper didn't even look remotely phased she actually finished his sentence with
"Yeah yeah, I hear that all the time!"Nora looked surprised and argued with him that she was half vampire and he declared Piper a monster and she should be taken and killed out back. Nora stood in front of her as guards came out and Nora's speed along with Piper's fighting abilities they easily took care of the guards at hand. Both of them fangs out and Piper was about to transform from the anger when Nora grabbed her hand and pulled her out of the building.
Piper pulled her fangs up and said
"What a dick!"Grant bared his fangs when Piper began to get attacked. Grants first thought was
"They are next after this." Grant patted his pocket and felt was in there was still in his pocket, then felt across the wall. Grant continued feeling the wall until he touched a brick that was close to the wall next to the wall he was touching. Kyle knew that in a lot of old museums the structures were weak from old age, and that repairement was rare. He also knew that the council would not change anything in a building they occupied based on their history. They would like to be hidden, to escape any danger that might befall them. Grant hypothesized that he could use this to his advantage and had formed a plan.
Grant bit his thumb, and a bit of blood dripped. Grant willed it to harden, and he pressed inbetween the weak brick and the brick next to it, creating a small hole, not even noticeable unless you were looking for it. Grant then relaxed his blood, and pulled out a two vials. One contained dead mans blood, one of the most lethal liquids to vampires. The other contained a combination of a gas like chemical agent, sulfuric acid. The second vial could contain the acid thanks to the chemical agent in it. Until exposed to oxygen for a few seconds, it remained in a hardened state, stabilizing anything it touched. Grant uncorked the first vial, then dipped his hardened blod into the blood. Grant felt the blood on his blood, but since it was not touching him physically he would live. Then Grant quickly did the same for the second vial, but only kept the vial exposed for two seconds. He absorbed the contents of the second vial with his blood, then quickly out his hardened blood spike through the hole he made. When he did, and the spike that was covered in his homemade poison he relaxed his blood, and his poison spread throughout the room, rather quickly but not super fast. The poison would engulf the room, the sulfuric acid would become a gas, and would burn the vampires. Then the dead mans blood would finish them off.
Grant immediatley left the room, and traveled through the ventilation system back to the roof, as to not be exposed to the agent or his identity be exposed.
Piper instantly smelled Grant when he came outside. She looked up and she jumped up onto the roof and smirked at him.
"What are you doing here?"Grant feigned suprise at Piper.
"Pi-piper? Huh? If I knew you were coming here I would have travelled here with you. I am here simply because I had a meeting with a publisher in this city."Piper grinned at him.
"You are a terrible liar. You were following us weren't you? Rick didn't believe Nora should come with only me and you didn't either did you?"Grant laughed.
"Wow. You're good. How could you tell?""You obviously overheard where we were going and followed us. Did you really think I couldn't take care of myself?" Piper wasn't sure how she felt about the whole thing. She waved to Nora and saw more guards coming out the door.
"Ah Shit!" She proceeded to jump down and land on one of them knocking him to the ground. Nora was already fighting another one. Piper was incredibly strong because of her hybrid status and she slammed a couple of them into the building so hard that they were knocked out and fell to the ground. She grabbed Nora and they got into the car and drove away.
"Grant was on the roof. What do you make of that?" Nora turned and looked at her.
"Really? How odd." Both women had their own suspicions.
Grant sighed and slowly found his way down to the ground. Grant walked away from the building and entered a black car that was waiting for him. The driver never turned around but did ask one question.
"What is life's greatest illusion?"Grant replied with,
"Innocence my brother."The driver started the car and drove away.
