[OOC] A Jump Through Worlds {AkiBlue & Glaw}

Main idea:

Aki and Glaw said Well, the idea that -since you wanted some sort of non-serious style rp- I was thinking that a Dimension traveler stuck in another dimension (low tech earth) (18th century circus) , makes friends with a local, but gets attacked regularly by dimension traveling enemies. Why he/she is getting attacked? Because s/he stole the item used for dimension traveling. (Reasons may vary) Now the local is sort of stuck in the situation having to help.

It gives a lot of freedom to make up dimensions and go adventuring and what not. It also gives room to make villain characters and other side characters per dimension.

Should we put a brief about our characters? At least name and a general appearance.

I'd said 18th century, but after a bit of scanning research I think rather we're looking for late 19th century -- 1890s or so, when circuses were in the groove. |3

Anyway, as for my character, I think:

Felix Abraham Ulrey, 20: A bit shorter than most other guys his age, with curly brown hair usually matted by long hours wearing a variety of hats; he's extremely proud of his stubbly chin and dark ghost of a mustache (he thinks it makes him look older), but all his tonics and regimens fail to grow a proper beard; he has brown, almost-black eyes and a winning smile; though he doesn't look very strong (read: not at all intimidating) years of setting up tents and loading crates have maintained his confidence in a fight (which happens now and again in this business).

She has medium length brown hair and mischievous green eyes. She's normally seen in tank-tops and capris. Rue doesn't too much care for fancy dress. Rue is skinny, but fits the "curves in the right places" saying. What makes her different from actual humans are her sharp teeth and her demon-like tail. In her dimension, some humans have those types of unique body structures. (We can both go into detail about that), Rue just so happened to get a tail.

The fire breather will be brought up later.

I decided to change it up a bit. My character is just from another dimension. Not another earth. But it'll be explained later in the story.

If anything needs to be changed in the first post, or you want me to add something, just let me know.

Thanks, but I'm not really feeling the scientists -- I can't see there being any characters in that group that either of us would care about, so I'll have to decline. ^^

Also, please don't be offended if I only respond to the last thing your character says. Multiple threads of conversation in the same post confuse the hell out of me.

Haha, to be honest, the other way around seems odd to me. x3 I read a pretty interesting article once that basically says there are two kinds of roleplayers: those that write a response to everything in the other person's post from beginning to end, and those that pick up the story just where the previous writer left off. It's actually rare for me to find someone who has the former philosophy, so this'll be a challenge.

Ha, well I mean I guess I normally respond to what I feel is important. Buuutttt I guess since posts aren't that great in length I'm categorizing all of it as important. So maybe it was just perspective, ha. *shrugs* I'm sure it'll be fine.

Aw yea, all of it's important, of course! I think I kinda take the whole post as one big awesome thing to reply to and go from there, instead of taking it apart. But surely, of course, will work out greatly, I'm just a nerd about rp strategies. x3

So what should be our next step?
A few days at the carnival where Felix introduces Rue around, and then one days she's fiddling with her bracelet and *poof* The two are in different dimensions? And then the dimension jumping begins?

Well, a bit closer to the present moment, I feel like there's a distinct lack of ... plot and urgency right now. x3 We need to step up a notch, blow something up or something.

Also, it's occurred to me that since Rue wants to go home, she has no reason to run away from the scientists -- unless she's accidentally running from them by unintentionally hopping dimensions, in which case, ha!

Maybe this Simon guy would like to lock Rue up in a cage and show her off to the public -- but for all her appearances she doesn't look all that weird. Not as weird (at first glance) as the lizard-lady, for example. So I'm not sure how much that idea would work.

But still, urgency. I have to be honest, I'm not feeling the motivation, and I'm not sure where to go here. Unless you have some kind of plotty idea, I think we might do better to simply skip the circus altogether. It sounded interesting at first, but I have no idea what to do with it. XD

Ha yeah that's why I asked. I wasn't very motivated with it either.
But I'm kinda stuck on what to do >.<

I guess I was expecting Rue to be really different -- I had assumed she'd know what she was doing with the dimension-hopper thing, that she was here on purpose for sightseeing, so I planned accordingly and followed through anyway when it turned out otherwise.

I think I need to change up Felix's character quite a lot to balance her, because they're too much alike now -- OR, Felix can simply be a side-character, and there's someone else in the circus that'll actually end up traveling with her. That might be a better way to do it. I don't like these two together, personally -- they're kinda boring. x3

I think I may have an idea to antagonize her, but I kinda don't want to tell you because it's not a fully formed idea and is related to a specific character. I'll post and speed things up a little, and then maybe I'll have a better grasp on it. If you're cool with dropping Felix, I'll go do that. ;)

I think the chasing would be more comedic, the time hopping every time the people got close.
I can adjust Rue if you want, I don't mind it much. Make her look more alien like. I can create an excuse as to why she didn't look like it before.

Felix can become a side character. Let's do what we must.

Chasing is great! And Rue looks awesome the way she is, I was just saying she wouldn't be much good at being a sideshow attraction. x3

I'm thinking that Cole's some kind of dimension/time/space traveler from yet another place altogether, and he's been stranded, traveling with the circus trying to find a way out. Then Rue comes along with an oldschool dimension-hopper.

So maybe Cole's a good guy or maybe he'll end up being the bad guy, but he's plot!

Ohhh, he could be the bad guy pretending to be a good guy.
He'd shock everyone. And then everyone will be like, "I was rooting for you!" And he lets everyone down for personal gain.
