Biography:Jock doesn't know where the nickname comes from, apparently he and his family were different in the Vault where he was born. However he doesn't even remember the vault where he was born as shortly after it opened up and people began to move out across central America. By the time Jock was three years old his family had settled in a small settlement called
Renegade Rock apparently being named after a group of brothers broke off from a nearby clan to make their own settlement free from the land disputes that came between them. It was a basic settlement and one of the best ones in the area which caused it to grow rapidly. People worked on creating a school and a hospital in the main body of the town whereas the outlying lands were dedicated to crops and farming, one of these was where Jock and his family lived.
Despite being outside the walls it was safe and Jock spent his childhood helping out on the farm and becoming interested in all the vehicles that lay scattered around. Originally he did not work on Engines however he worked mainly with his father in he construction of pulley systems, wind turbines and watermills. Simple engineering at first and only eventually did he begin to work up. He first touched an engine at the age of 13 - a Vehicle that appeared to have once had wheels, he took it to pieces to find out where all the parts were supposed to go. He understood the need for parts to move however in their rusted state they wouldn't be capable of doing such. Over the course of several months he worked on trying to find something capable of removing rust, and once he had done that the next issue was finding a lubricant.
The town had a specially made oil for flame torches and he used it to grease down all the moving parts. The next issue was finding a compatible fuel source however by this point he had done several other projects. An old railtrack extended through part of the settlement and he managed to set up a pully cart system that would be able to take twice the load that a Brahmin cart was able too at an increased speed. One day an Enclave Vertibird flew over head and saw the system, which had not been seen before on previous scouts, and on their next attempt at bringing the town under their fold they inquired about the system.
At the time Jock had been practicing with his rifle when they came up to him and began drilling him with questions, about how engines worked and what needed to be done to certain parts. Naturally he couldn't name the actual parts as he had never
known the names however he still managed to impress them after he shown that he could dismantle it and reassemble it. By all means the engine of the vehicle he had repaired would run if he had known what to use for fuel or how to charge the battery to start the engine. Once talks with the town leadership had succeeded he was asked to sign up and he agreed whole hardheartedly. All he had to pack was his rifle and some clothes and he was gone, leaving the town life behind.
He was shipped straight to Canada where the temperature caught him off guard, he had known cold before but these temperatures were just ridiculous as far as he could tell. He was put as an apprentice under the bases reigning mechanic but at the same time they ensured that his combat training and physical training were kept up to date to ensure that he could be used in combat situations. His first year was spent largely just maintaining the engines due to the cold climate, removing ice build up and ensuring everything ran smoothly. Eventually he began to grasp the technology completely and began being taught in other areas. Basic explosives such as mines and detonators, weapons and even door mechanics. They ensured that he was an all around engineer. However they soon learned that much of the fancy electrical work was beyond him. While he had a natural affinity for machines it always included their moving parts. He could just...
see how they fit together. It was almost(Though it wasn't) like a sixth sense he had.
He "Graduated" the employ of the engineer at the age of 21 when he was finally able to dismantle and rebuild the engine of a Vertibird by himself without any form of supervision or needing to ask for help. With his training complete he was shipped off to another base, where Eagle Claw would later be created. Despite his work with Vertibird training that wasn't enough for the Enclave. They knew better than anyone about the vehicles that used to roam, trains across great rails from one side of the country to another, automobiles on great roadways transporting people and supplies and most importantly for the coming struggle war machines that ran over the ground destroying everything in their path. It became his job to try and recreate some of these when he was not working on vertibirds.
It was a slow task, the hover technology that cars had inhibited before the great war proved too difficult to recreate and as the circuitry was fried when the nuclear blasts went off and replacements could not be made, no replacement computer chips have ever been made and the Enclave were no closer to making new ones than they were to global domination. So he started small, working on a design he had only seen once or twice in ruins and old video footage. Wheels. The idea was simple, at least compared to that of a Vertibird. The problem was acquiring or making parts. The parts all had to be made by hand or adjusted from existing parts. In his six years of making vehicles - largely by himself and only when he wasn't working on vertibirds - he has only managed to complete two vehicles and has a third in production. Though now he has been put on Eagle Claw so his free time has decreased even more. How they expect him to ever get to the stage of constructing a war machine he does not know...
Extra:Engineer, basically.
I liked the idea of having some cars actually constructed. Can edit any parts as necessary, as long as it doesn't all suck I'll be happy.
