"And looking good for it, don't you think?" He chuckled, reaching over for his now cooled down coffee and taking a sip.

"And another question, cause I think I heard about you on the television one year while I was still living in America. Are you that Doctor that...oh what was her name...Harriet? I can't remember her last name but anyways, are you that same man she had been searching for?"

As Dani asked him the questions, he felt a rush of guilt and grief begin to bundle in his hearts. Harriet Jones had took her own life so the Doctor could live merely a couple of weeks ago, before he'd had to say a tragic goodbye to Donna. He let out a low, deep sigh, closing his eyes for a couple of seconds before responding.

"Yes, that was me," The Doctor replied bleakly, holding the coffee cup tightly in both hands. "I'm the Doctor. 'Thee' Doctor. The Time Lord from a planet called Gallifrey."

"If I ever ask anything hard to answer, tell me you don't want to answer the question. Please." Dani insisted. She would never want to cause this man any discomfort. She smiles a bit. "I would say so, however, I wouldn't want to inflate that ego of yours." She said teasing him a bit to see him smile for she couldn't stand that lonely look in his eyes any more. And by his tone his home was no longer there. And if that was so, he might be the last of his people. That was sad. Tears threatened to spill from her eyes, taking a sip from her cool coffee as well. Caffeine was caffeine. Chilled was better too.
"I'm sorry." She said finally knowing that kind of loss would be next to impossible to get over. She wanted to know about Time Lords but thought it would be a bad question to ask. "So since I figure you got out of whatever happened, which I will only accept the story when you wish to tell me it, how do you travel?" She asked curiously. "And that paper, what is it?" She asked for she wanted to know if her theory was right.

"I would say so, however, I wouldn't want to inflate that ego of yours."

The Doctor let out a deep chuckle, turning his old brown eyes towards Dani. "Oi, watch it, you." He said jokingly, focusing his vision back onto the cup of coffee in his hands.

"There was a war," The Doctor started, knowing that he cold trust the young girl, "A war between my people and a race called the Daleks. Everyone died. And my planet burned." He looked down towards the floor, past the coffee cups as he tried to stop the overwhelming feeling of self-pity and distress. Come on you old fool, you're stronger than this...

Sucking in a deep breath, he began to answer Dani's further questions. "That ship that I landed in, it's called the TARDIS, that's my ship. It can travel through time and space, take you anywhere in the universe - she's the only think I have left. She's my home. And that paper is my psychic paper, shows whatever you want everyone to see."

Dani smiles enjoying hearing that laugh coming from the Doctor, it was quite nice actually. She looked at him surprised that, he would so willingly offer this information to her so soon. When he paused she lightly placed a hand onto his shoulder for support with telling of this hard tale of his. "I'm sorry about your home planet. And for the loss that you must have endured." She said not even wanting to imagine having to go through that alone. She thought for a moment to bring up another question so that she could distract them both from the sad topic they crossed into. "TARDIS? It's an anagram of something, yeah? Hmm...." Dani said puzzling through what he said about traveling through time and space. So that was the 'T' and the 'IS'. The 'I' standing for 'in'. She sat there for a while a look of concentration on her face. Now what could be the 'R' and 'D'? Well for it to make sense, she would have to remember: he wasn't human, but a different species called the Time Lords. And before getting to that hallway where she first saw the Doctor, she heard a faint Whir sound like some sort of machine powering down. "So your machine it can go pretty much anywhere?" She asks curiously. To go anywhere, and to see all that there was to see? That did sound amazing. Dani finished up the jacket as they spoke used to having her attention on plenty of things at once in a day.

"Anywhere you want to go. Any place. Any time." He retorted quiet proudly. "It stands for Time And Relative Dimensions In Space, but TARDIS sounds much better." Chuckling, he finished off his coffee and threw it expertly into the bin.

"So, tell me a bit about yourself, Dani, you don't want to sit and listen to an old Time Lord's tales all day."

"Hmm. Well I'm sure your story is a whole lot more entertaining than my own, but its only fair. I've been the only one to ask questions. Let's see. I am twenty-four, American born and raised. I have only been living in the United Kingdom for a couple of months now, but my southern accent is fading unless I'm angry or excited. I have poor eyesight cause I have to work on cloth like this all day, but I don't mind it, for it makes me look mature. But I have my childish moments. I have three older brothers that adore me and a worry wort for a mother, and a hardworking handy man as a dad who adores me. Music and books pretty much kept my sanity together helping get outside of reality if only for a few moments in time. And not to mention that music helps me concentrate. Anything else you might want to know about me?" Dani asked having told him the basics about herself like the background. "Yeah TARDIS has a certain ring to it." She agreed having been close to figuring it out too. But at least she now knew.

The Doctor listened intently to Dani whilst she explained aspects of her life to him, staring into her young, thoughtful eyes with his old brown ones. The girl seemed to have a loving, caring family, which made the Doctor smile lightly as she continued to explain about her brothers, her mother and her father. It made his mind breeze over to Donna, realising just how much he missed her. She had been his best friend, someone who had been there for him when he really needed it. And now she was gone.

"Anything else you might want to know about me?"

He chuckled. "Well, not that I can think of. Just another inspiring human being." He stated, winking at her humorously. He then turned his attention to the finished product that the young girl had managed to fix up. "Thank you for fixing up my suit, it looks brilliant, good as new - at least I know Charlie won't be angry at me anymore." He took the item of clothing, and slowly got up from the couch, slipping the suit jacket over his shoulders and doing up two of the buttons, before observing his think frame in the mirror. "Am I really that thin?"

Grabbing his coat from where he had left it, he shrugged it over his shoulders and straightened his tie, completing his formal yet scruffy appearance by flicking through his hair, making it stick up on all ends. Knowing that he would have to get on with the aliens that could currently be trying to take over the town, he glided back over Dani. "Well Dani, I suppose I had better get on with...stuff. I want you to get that rest you need." He smiled fatherly down towards the young girl.

Dani once more wished for her glasses, but sat there on the bed anyway studying the Doctor with a faint smile on her lips.
"Am I really that skinny?" He seemed to ask his reflection but she laughs softly anyway.
"Well, yes. But I think it's part of your charm." She said warmly. "You'll just handle this thing all by yourself then? Don't you have someone with you?" She asked worried about him. He had that loneliness that came with not being with someone. She appreciated being called 'inspiring'. It felt nice to have someone other than family think so. "And sure I do, I'm only human. But what about you, mister Time Lord? Do you ever rest or is it just constantly going from one adventure to the next?" She said standing up a hand on her hip. That was a stubborn a pose as one could get. "You said you could let it be for at least a few hours. Get that much in rest at least. Please. Or else, I'll just follow you." She warned perfectly serious. And besides, it might be a whole lot more fun than what she was currently doing at this point in her life. "Or I just might anyway." She said brightly a smile on her lips as a giggle escaped seeing that perplexed look on his face. Like he was torn with either throttling her or saying 'to hell with it' and letting her come along anyway and damn the consequences.

"But what about you, mister Time Lord? Do you ever rest or is it just constantly going from one adventure to the next?"

The Doctor gave a lop-sided smile and rubbed the back of his neck with his long fingers. "I don't need as much sleep as most other races, especially humans. A few hours every two weeks usually keeps me going. I have no time for rest."

Dani then warned him about following him if he refused to get some rest, to which he sighed in reply. When he came to think about it, the last time he'd slept was in fact a couple of weeks ago and if he was going to be on the move rapidly for the next day or so whilst he investigated into the alien that was currently in a shop, he would need to perk up his strength slightly.

"Alright then, you've got me, I'll stay for a while, but only for a while, yeah?" He said, completely honest and open about it. He slumped himself onto one of the two single beds provided, grunting slightly as his back ached at the quick movement. He realised that it was his body telling him that it was in fact worn out, and did indeed deserve some rest.

"I make some sense. And don't worry about it Doctor. I should be awake in four hours or five. I give myself that long to get a proper sleep." Dani said smiling glad that she had worn the Doctor down. "Thank you. Now I won't have to worry about you so much." She said crawling into the covers taking out her hair from the ponytail she had it in for a few hours now and stretched falling immediately asleep her body shutting down. Her last thought being, If he does allow me to come along, I'm going to have to get him to smile and laugh a lot more. And also learn to know his limits.

"Thank you. Now I won't have to worry about you so much."

He smiled warmly at the young girl as she climbed into the bed next to his. He was surprised at how much he trusted the girl, even though he had only known her a couple of hours, even enough to confidently be willing to let down his guard and get some rest. Within seconds, he noticed she had fallen fast asleep.

The Time Lord then closed his own eyes, placing his long arms behind his head to rest upon stretching out his legs so he was more comfortable. He began to worry rather than relax, beginning to fear how close he was to slipping into his dreams. Most often than not, he had nightmares. Nightmares about the people he had lost in his nine hundred years, or more commonly, the Time War. He was terrified, simply because it made him vulnerable. Which he didn't like. But slowly and surely, he slipped into sleep.

Dani's eyes snapped open at a sound of something, shaking her head as it had been only moments to her of resting, rubbing her eyes and determining where it was coming from her head supplying the answer once it started working again. She got out of her bed and bit her lip before placing a hand onto the Doctor's shoulder as he once more made that fearful sound. She had no idea what to do for this man who had shouldered so much in his nine hundred years, and faced terrors she couldn't perceive. She sat on the bed and placed herself close enough but not exactly touching, except for where she placed her hand, which was on his not wanting to take any liberties she shouldn't. "There there." She said softly barely loud enough to puncture the otherwise silence in the room. "You're no longer by yourself now." She said once more just as softly yawning as she settles there being half awake, but always rousing when he made a noise or a sudden movement soothing him in the only way she knew how to. Time seemed to pass slowly before it seemed he drifted to a dreamless sleep and she once more fell into the chasm as well, her unconsciousness bringing her closer to the Doctor to share in her presence and to experience his.

The Doctor's eyes abruptly snapped open. He let out a deep gasp as he was knocked out yet another pursuing dream, his body jerking at the intensity of his awakening. He could feel small beads of sweat dotted on his forehead below his messy brown hair. He sighed deeply, the images of his dream still streaming within his mind. It hadn't been about the Time War. It hadn't been about death or destruction either. It had been very simply, about Donna. It hurt him when he saw her in his dreams, his hearts cascading into a rush of guilt and wanting to desperately see her again. Which was simply impossible. So, he had no other choice but to forget about it.

He didn't realise until a couple of moments later that Dani was snuggled up next to him, her breathing soft and shallow and her hand placed firmly near his. She was still deep in sleep. She looked peaceful and content, which made the Doctor sigh once more. He was beginning to feel the urge to get up and run. He had just lost Donna, and had now been plunged into another alien threat, which needed to be seen to. He didn't want another innocent human getting hurt or, more importantly, he didn't want to form another sentimental attachment. He had lost too many people, and he wasn't about to loose another.

Slowly but surely, he unraveled his long legs from one another and began to get up from the bed, trying to be as quiet as possible in order to not wake the sleeping human beside him. He managed to stand without making a noise and he carefully glided over to the door. When he reached it, he quickly looked back to check to see if Dani was still sleeping and, once satisfied she wasn't awake, gripped the door handle and opened it.

However, the Time Lord got quite the shock when the door opened to reveal a bulky woman with short brown hair standing right in his path, her chunky hands crossed into fists beside her legs. The Doctor didn't know what to say, until he caught a glimpse of her eyes. They were a bright yellow, with a green slit in the middle of each. The woman, was a Travarian.

Before he had time to react, the woman lifted up her left arm and in one swift movement, punched the Doctor square in his gut, his hands instantly rushing to his midriff. The female then rushed her hand back and hit the Time Lord straight in the jaw, which sent him flying backwards into the hotel room, landing on the carpet with an audible thud. He groaned loudly, blood beginning to drip from his mouth and down his cheek. His vision was blurred and his head was hazy. A punch like that would have knocked a human clean out. His hearts began to race when the bulky form of the female stepped into the room and stood beside his prone form. The Doctor weakly glanced up at her, trying to use his arms in order to crawl backwards away from her. She lifted up a thick foot and placed it on the spot where she had punched his stomach, making him grit his bloodied teeth. She looked threateningly down towards him.

It was the sound of flesh hitting flesh that first roused Dani, and then it was the sound of the very audible thud on the ground that fully got her awake, and then tossing the lamp, hitting the female square on the head, the glass shattering and cutting into the flesh. Sitting up in bed was the now woken up woman from the Southern states of America who got barely enough sleep as it was, not that she blamed the Doctor for that. She would have done it for anyone, in a heartbeat. Or at least those she cared for, and she'll admit that the Doctor fit nicely in that category even if she only knew him for a few hours at the best. She swung out of bed cracking her knuckles glaring at the woman.
"It's very impolite to wake someone when they're resting don't you know." She said sweetly yet it was one of those tones that would alert anyone that she, a female despite the species was very pissed off, her southern accent coming out as promised when she said that it would. And if she could distract the, what she suspected was a friend of the species they had left behind at the store Travarian, the Doctor could get his bearings, and do whatever it was he did with these things. Kick their arse? Oh she certainly hoped so. It might actually be interesting to see this skinny man kicking the arse of an alien like this. Or did he? Hmm...well, whatever it was she was certain that with a proper distraction, he'd do it. She was certain she was doing something both A) stupid and B) very dangerous. Oh well, her uncle would certainly approve of her taking this risk.

The Doctor saw the lamp hit the Travarian right on the head, making it's female form stumble back a couple of feet off the Doctor and growl viscously, pieces of glass sticking from the flesh that oozed blue blood. The Doctor then heard the familiar American accent threaten the Travarian, the sound of Dani's knuckles echoing over the growling of the angry alien. He knew he had to act fast, otherwise it would simply kill her.

Reaching into his coat pocket with a shaky hand, he plucked out his sonic screwdriver and with all his strength, picked himself up from the floor. He then aimed the sonic at the Travarian through his still slightly blurred vision, spitting out a small mouthful of blood.

"What a-are you doing here on Earth?" The Doctor grunted, trying to not slur his words. "The Travarian race have no reason to be here." As he was speaking, the Doctor made sure that he was directly in front of Dani, forming a protective stance around her. The bulky alien chuckled gruffly, not noticing the blue blood dripping over its eyes.

"We want what is rightfully ours. We desire Earth. We want Earth. The Travarian race will have Earth." It stated.

"Earth isn't yours," The Doctor said simply. "I don't know what you're planning, but you can't hide away in the streets of London forever. Trust me, if it's anything that is a threat to the human race, then I'll have to stop you."

The Travarian laughed yet again, the blood dripping onto the floor from its face. "I don't know who you think you are, old Time Lord. But we will have what we desire. And you wont be able to find us."

And then, in a flash, the female lifted up one of its arms and activated what looked like a metallic bracelet perched on its wrist and vanished in a flash of blue, leaving behind a few drops of its blood stained into the carpet. The Doctor lowered his arm to his side.

"Teleport..." He said. Then, unable to withstand the aching coming from his old body, he staggered forwards slightly, groaning and wincing, before he fell to the floor in a heap.

"Right not the wisest thing I ever did." Dani said as she knelt down after the Doctor fell to a heap on the ground. So what could be so important about Earth that the Travarians could be looking for? "Let's get you patched up Doctor. Well if that ain't ironic I have no idea what is." She said and got him up onto the bed. "Have you noticed that this planet gets an awful lot of alien activity? First it was those ghosts that turned into those Tin Men, and then those evil R2D2's in the sky. So what's so important that these aliens think they can just take it?" She asked. There was no way she would allow this planet to go to those things. And she also noticed that the the two were having a conversation. "How were you able to understand her? I have no idea what it was you were talking about." She asked knowing that he couldn't hear her anyway, just having a one way conversation to calm her nerves as she tried to figure out how to take care of his wounds.

The Doctor's body was trying to shut down to process the impact of the punches, meaning that the was ultimately at his physically weakest. His head throbbed and his stomach ached from the impact point. He tried to open his eyes, feeling rather embarrassed that he had collapsed on the young girl who he could feel was helping him onto the bed. He attempted to reply, but his head was still raging with blurriness and it came out as a pained moan.

Dani got some of the ice from the room's mini fridge and wrapped the wounds on the Doctor's body trying to sooth them with what they had in here and answered the phone. "Oh yeah we're okay. Do you have something for bruises? I'm afraid we got a little playful and then it got too serious. Too many days of just dancing around it." She said with a flush to her face sounding considerably embarrassed and thanks for the consideration. She got some things from the small toiletries from the bathroom glad that there was some sort of makeup there placing some believe-able finger marks on her wrists and pinched her lips to make them kissed and messed her hair and her clothes and went to the door as it knocked looking through the peephole first the blush on her face. "Thank you, and could you just keep this quiet? I'd appreciate it." She got a nod of understanding and a smile that said, 'good for you girl' and the other female left and she shut the door going to the Doctor. "The lies I can come up with when I'm half awake." She said as she applied the stuff to the Doctor's worst of the wounds.

The Doctor could feel his head beginning to clear slightly and the pain subsiding as Dani tended to his wounds. He felt rather embarrassed himself when Dani covered up for the commotion through intimacy, answering the door to a bewildered young women who thankfully seemed to understand and left her too it. After a couple of minutes, the Doctor finally began to come around properly, his head complete cleared.

"T-Thank you - Dani..." He mumbled, placing a gentle hand on her shoulder as she applied pressure to one of his wounds. His long fingers grabbed at the clothing as the wound stung, hissing through his teeth. "Donna used to call me a big baby...I can see what she meant now..."

"Don't mention it. But I think I found out how it was you can understand what that Trevarian was saying. You have a space and time traveling machine. Obviously you'll wind up somewhere that doesn't speak English, so she must do it for you. Your ship is a 'she' right?" Dani asked a kind smile on her lips and tilts her head as she finished with her ministrations. She didn't mind when he clutched at her clothes hissing in pain. "Donna? Ah, I see. But this time you really got hurt, so its only reasonable to respond like you are." She said having wondered for a little moment as to whom Donna was, however, she didn't think that this man would want to travel alone so picked up people to be his companions. She now understood that look of loneliness in his eyes. He lost someone obviously important to him. On top of having his world and his people obliterated. She slightly and hesitatingly places her hand on his face showing her sympathy. She hadn't known him long, nor did she think that Donna or anyone else that met him had, but she had a feeling that she along with all of them trusted him immplicably. She then had a thought. "Say Doctor, how closely related to actual reptiles are these Trevarians?" She asks curiously. For if they were close or even a little close, she just might have an idea of how to buy some time before they had a chance to do whatever it was they were planning to do.
