My character's going to be a local African-American woman. Has a cynical attitude towards strangers as a result of a traumatizing experience she had as a teenager, and it's hard to gain her trust, but she's loyal to the people she knows she can trust.

I was thinking of having a foreigner too (to account for the fact that I don't have TOO much knowledge of American culture, etc.) but more along the lines of someone there for work. I've been playing with the idea of a Russian acrobat.touring with a circus.
