Suppose it's only fitting to make an introduction of myself. As terrible as I am with that.
In any case, I've been roleplaying since god's know when, it's actually how I refined and learned the English language. It's not my native tongue, and I only had a base understanding before starting when I was around 10 or younger. Now, being 22, I'd like to claim I've got a little knowledge at the least. Though I still find need to improve.
I haven't been in any proper roleplay for lord knows how long, so I guess that's why I joined here, so maybe I could polish some rust off and hone my writing some more. Get new friends, do fun things.
For preferences, I've always been a one on one kind of person, though the interest for group stuff's really there, I go for most genres and settings, though I do tend to lean towards adventure and action, I worry it can get a bit boring otherwise. As my avatar may have told you, I tend to play 'furry/anthro' characters, simply my preference, but can't say I mind playing with anyone playing something else. It's all good, lov'. I don't really shy away from darker themes, violence, gore, etc can create real interesting narratives, which is why primary fetish: Narrative. I don't like adding things just because, it needs to serve a good narrative. I try to make my post lengths conform to the actions being done. A fight scene shouldn't have too long posts in my mind, as it relies so much on the actions of both characters, while something else could require a lot more.
OOC wise, I'd like to claim I'm an OK person. I don't get offended easily, I don't really care about drama or the like, and tend to be straight forwards. Some people like that, some don't. I won't hold it against you.

As for things not relating directly to RP? I'm Norwegian, so my timezone is GMT+1, so I guess if you're a night owl of an American, or European, then those times line up well. I spend some time gaming, otherwise just socializing and looking at dumb stuff online.
So uh. Yeah. Guess that's that.
-Cheers.

Oh, I'm not worried about my English. It's one of the things I pride myself on. Just thought it's an interesting tidbit. Learning English from roleplays.

Welcome to RPGuild.

Honestly, I appreciate people who're straightforward since I'm pretty damn infamous for being forthright with people. I didn't have any problem understanding your English either, so - like my soul devouring robot friend/enemy/friendenemy/rival/associate/whateverthefuckyouareman just said - you're good on that front too.

Edit: Hadn't seen your reply before posting, but eh it was funny anyway -- forgot to ping him though.

Yeah, I'm not really a forum person, I've avoided them like the plague for most of my life, but I figure it's time to capitulate and whatnot. So I've got no clue how these things work proper.
I'll learn in due time, I'm certain. Forums scare me, man.

Also, the snowman line made me laugh a lot for some reason.

Neither am I, to be honest with you -- I still avoid forums as a general rule, because I don't really like social media and whatnot, but figured I'd need to join somewhere if I planned to network with people. I've had a really rough experience with a lot of forums I've given a chance, and I'm something of a nomad when it comes to sites. I've actually been on this site for a lot longer than I'd usually stick around on a forum that I didn't create personally, and even now I don't know how long I'll stick around. Probably gonna let the outcome of my upcoming role-play decide that to an extent.

You picked up the [ @Mention ] feature quickly (I pretty much used it on you to let you know it's there, if you didn't know), so I think you'll get used to things fine.

@Shoryu Magami Aye, I noticed there's even a button on the posts so you can do it all quick like. How handy.
And social media has never really been my forte. I'm more of a personal person in that regard, I prefer talking to people directly, I guess.

Same, to an extent. I prefer to speak with people rather than write, mostly because I think I can get my points across a lot better in discussion than over text. I don't associate with too many people in person though, so this usually involves things like Skype and such. Not so much because I'm shy (I'm really not -- like I said, if anything I'm too blunt for my own good) or have problems talking with people directly, but just because I tend to be something of a loner... sort of.

The button is helpful indeed. Also, if you're wondering about BBCode, there's a 'cheatsheet' at the bottom of the page, but it doesn't have everything and my friend @tsukune made a much better thread containing all of that information.

@Shoryu Magami Oh, I do quite prefer text myself. It's what I grew up on, I guess. But still, I prefer closed conversations, I guess. Where I always know who and what can read, I guess. And I've luckily learned BBcoding due to holding profiles on art sites and the like. Not that I use them a ton, though they can be humorous. Still may have a look to see if there's any other fun codes I might have missed or so.

I only got introduced to the internet a little over ten years ago (I'm thirty-three), so talking over text is foreign to me to some extent, especially considering I never had a mobile phone or anything growing up. That being said, I get what you mean about preferring conversations to be private and such, or at the very least just confidentially between you and people you trust. That's one of the reasons I prefer to create forums instead of join them -- they're usually invite-only.

@Shoryu Magami Ah, yeah. I grew up online, basically. Started when I was around 10, as mentioned, so I guess it's near a given that I'd be highly acclimatized to it. Different generations and all, I guess. I do remember having a brick for a phone as a child though. It was awesome.
And I guess for now, I'll use the place to find people to do one on one stuff or whatever, retain some of that privacy. Still am curious to jump into a group some time though. Hoh well, all in due time.

Yeah, I know a lot of people who grew up with technology, so it does seem like the fact that I was born anything from five to ten years before them played a big part in the difference. If you'd prefer privacy, then the PM system would probably be your best bet until you're actually comfortable with the idea of anyone being able to see your work. I personally don't care who sees mine, but then I tend to have a history of not caring what other people think period.

@Shoryu Magami I both do and don't, I guess. Cuz I think I'd be fine with public posting, so to speak, I'm confident enough to do that. I mean, hell, the reason I ended up joining is because I was reading blogs about god awful RPs, and it got me thinking of getting back into it. So I'm fairly sure I won't be the worst anyone could find and read.
Also, question: What exactly is the 'interest check' thing in the subforums there? Can't really make heads or tail about it.

I'm sure you wouldn't be either, if the back and forth between us right now is anything to go off. I understand that some people have issues with other people seeing their work, but it's not something I've personally ever been able to relate to. The only reason I'm not showing people on this site content from my main story project is because - as it currently stands anyway - all of it's in draft phase at best -- what little of it's actually written up that is, since I've still got too many notes to sort through before official writing takes place.

Edit: Ah, that. Honestly, I'd never seen anything like it when I joined this site either. Basically, it's a place you can put up a role-play idea you want to pitch so people can actually tell you if they'd be interested in it or not. Some people prefer to confirm there's interest before taking the time to make a detailed and thorough OOC about the role-play. I sort of ignored this concept though, since my own interest check was really in-depth.

@Shoryu Magami Yeah, another reason I wanna get back into RPing is so that I can get my writing up to snuff so I can finally write the novels I've wanted. Guess you don't get more public than published books either, eh?

Exactly. I didn't so much join the site because I want to use role-play to build my writing ability, but more that the huge workload of notes is very demoralizing and I felt like I needed a place to get involved in some actual writing for now so I could actually enjoy... well... writing again. I did have the option to create my own forum and role-play using my project's setting with my circle (since they're big followers of my project), but I sort of just joined this site on a whim instead. Been a weird few months since, both for good and bad reasons.

I answered the question you asked in an edit in my last post.

@Shoryu Magami Ah, cheers. Suppose that makes sense.
And yeah, I do quite love settings more than anything. Can't stand fanfiction kind of stuff, but I could love working within a world, just outside of what would be happening in the canon or whatever.
And I can also quite understand needing to take a kind of break and write something else, lest you get burned out and make it feel like a chore more than anything.

@Foxymew

Honestly, my passion for writing is almost entirely centred around my passion for my main project. There's a few exceptions when I've role-played in settings outside of it, and even role-play in fandom-based role-plays, but as a general rule those are only exceptions. Whenever I create a new idea for a role-play, it's usually in some way connected to my main project, even if it's just a spin-off/multiverse thing. The current upcoming role-play I'm running is an example of this.

Most of the role-plays I've done with my friends in my circle are more or less considered non-canon 'what if' scenarios connected to my main project. They're essentially like spin-off stories, somehow set in the main project's world but ultimately involving plots or arcs that don't have anything to do with the official canon, or are sometimes alternate paths a canon plot could've gone down had X character been present.

I noticed you've mentioned you're into a lot of genres but prefer action (to avoid things getting boring) -- the current role-play I'm running isn't heavy with action in the conventional sense, but it'll be pretty engaging I feel. My main project has a lot of very broken characters (people in my circle have argued I've created the most powerful fictional series period), but for this role-play idea I decided to see what would happen if I put normal people in a situation where they need to use their wits and intuition to survive a situation no normal human could take on directly. It's basically a psychological/horror/thriller kind of thing.
