@Shoryu Magami Well, action is more than just fighting, naturally. And I guess it was more that I'm not into pure romance RPs, I guess, they get a bit stale for me. Not a good narrative. Not to say I dislike romance, it just needs to be mixed with something else, I guess. Plus, the thought of predetermined romance kind of undermines how I think characters should be their own actors and not follow a riggid plot, so to speak. After all, things can change from point A to B. And personally, my RPs are all over the place in terms of settings, I can shimmy something into anything. High fantasy, modern, sci-fi, what have you, I can make something work. And I do like running characters who are outside the norm in one way or another. And being utterly out of your league physically can be quite interesting.

@Shoryu Magami It's like midnight over here, so I have to go pass out, way past my self imposed bedtime, plus I've been sick today. Was a real treat talking to you so far though. Won't mind continuing to talk either! Jus' didn't want you to feel I left you or summit.

@Foxymew

I can enjoy romance, but I'm like you in the sense that I feel it needs to have something alongside it or else it doesn't work too well. I do have some couples in my project which I consider 'predetermined' or 'official', but it's mostly because I know my characters on such a detailed level that I understand how compatible they are and know they'd end up a thing regardless of the trials that might come up.

On the other hand, I definitely relate to the whole 'a lot can happen from point A to point B' thing -- in my main project (it's called 'Guardian Ascension', or just 'GA' for simplicity), I've basically got the final few arcs of the story set in stone because certain aspects of my plot are set up in a way that things will go down this direction no matter what happens up until that point, but the whole middle area of the series is something I plan to pretty much let write itself based on how I feel the characters would act and how all the different schemes and concepts play out.

GA's incredibly difficult to categorize under a genre, and it's more 'literary fiction' as opposed to 'genre fiction', but I believe 'contemporary fantasy' would be the most simplistic way to explain the setting itself. Generally speaking, my concepts and ideas tend to be very complex and not very mainstream.

The current role-play I mentioned I'm running is set in a slightly alternate history 2012, but also has contemporary fantasy elements. I'd say if you're interested in the whole 'out of your league physically' idea, take a look at my role-play some point. It's pretty easy to find, since the big title in my signature is a clickable link to it. Just be aware that it's also got a murder/mystery element to it.

Since I've enjoyed this conversation too, I'll toss you a shameless plug to my hang-out thread. That's usually one of the easiest ways to say hi to me on this site if you don't PM (given the way the PM system works on this site, I prefer people only use it for something they'd like to keep private). For now, good night.
