@bobert778 Not that anything, but I feel the distances are kind of too short... like with this scale with direct access to the bridge its about 60km from falke to twilight fields? Isn't that like... very short?

@rivaan

Now that I actually look at it, I think you're right. I had someone back home make that for me real quick since I have no computer right now, and may have been kinda vague with intended distances. I'll ask them if they mind taking another cracking at it

So the revised map is up, all my friend did was double up on things but it looks better than it was. Given the average human walking speed of 5km/h, 80km is also a pretty reasonable 'daily grind' reference line (That's a full 16 hours of travel without taking into account encounters, terrain, etc). Also just because I was curious, turns out with this scale Mount Helva is about 5.5 times the height of Everest. It's one Helva climb *ba-dum-tss*

Bobert.

Bobert.

Most of that mountain would be in the fucking stratosphere.

It shouldn't be climbable at all.

Never. I'm gonna go to bed with all of my actual logic and think about what geological and geographic implications that this giant mountain brings with it. Like god damn, there's supposed to be a temple full of monks a good ways up there, how do they breathe?

@rivaan I only know enough about this sort of thing to know that if you mess too much with that stuff your atmosphere ends up resembling Venus or something, so I'm not keen on messing with it for the sake of one ridiculously tall mountain.

@Drag Ehhhhhh... I'd say do what you want.

Yeah well, we're not on earth. So that means maybe this planet is larger and and can support more atmosphere. Also magic. Take that :P

Oh yeah? How much larger? Enough to mess with gravity? Because that would mess with an awful lot. I could maybe buy that the monks are somehow compressing the atmosphere enough to make it breathable up there and maybe traded for info on agricultural tips/magic from Twilight Fields to grow some food up there, but I'm not accepting this mountain shit as canon until you give me a good reason why they're doing that, in which case that'd be pretty cool.

Also I beat Nightmare for the last time this morning, anyone want to bet me some lore that I can finish DMC1 before he finishes his IC post?

@lavulman A good reason for doing what? Having those monks up that high? It's the highest point in the land and that means it's closer to their gods, that's why they live in the temple, and everywhere else in the mountains. The air is definitely really thin up there, but I was planning on that when I came up with the place.

I never intended to make the mountain that high, that's just what the current scale on our map says. It's a hand drawn map, they probably have no proper way of measuring how tall the mountain actually is XP

I spent waaaaay too many nights making sure that every faction and culture had a reason for being the way it is to be so lazy.

Though I'm not gonna deny that most things on the level of individual characters run on rule of cool, so there is that.
