Warm, inviting, and bubbly are only few words to describe the jovial character that Reese embodies. The young boy holds honesty and trust as crucial morals for his everyday life, seeing them as a necessary crutch for life as a soldier. His past occupation as a merchant had dramatically improved his ability to interact with others, and while it is easy to deduce from his speech alone that he is of a wealthy upbringing, those who associate with the youth generally look beyond that previous life.
Reese is not one to hold grudges or outright dislike other people, though he has shown signs of a flaring temper when he is driven to anger when he feels that others or himself have been treated with disdain. The military has begun to shape the boy into a man, but his soft nature retains his relative immaturity from youth. He is still inclined to follow in the footsteps of his friends, and resolves in doing whatever he can to keep them from going astray.
His shyness has all but begun to dissipate, the close association with his fellow trainees allowing Reese to grow ever so confident in himself and his abilities. This translates into a constant determination to better himself, always seeking to surpass his limitations with every training session. However, this habitual process to push beyond his physical boundaries is often facilitated alongside a lack of concern for fatigue and injury.

Reese Kestrel was the youngest of three children, and the only son to a wealthy family of trade proprietors; the Kestrel family resided in the safe confines of Stohess District within Wall Sina. Initially spoiled and living a childhood in luxury, his father had been raised under the principle of earning his own place in the world, as did his grandfather before. The young boy had only known his immediate family for the first years of his life before he was entrusted in the care of his uncle, who lived in the northern Utopia District of Wall Maria. Unfortunately, at the age of six, this would be the last time that he would see his immediate family, for the years to come.
Not much sooner, Reese and the family relocated to Trost District, where his uncle could better operate the trade routes tasked by his father. When his tenth birthday came, the youth volunteered to accompany his uncle and the other traders in their work, to which they happily obliged. Their activities all across each Wall and district allowed him to discover and befriend many other children, telling them about his travels and the sights he had been able to see.
Reese had been shaping himself up to meet his father in the near future, to prove to himself and his father that he was ready to inherit the family's name and responsibility. With three years of experience under his belt at a very young age, his notion had only needed several more years until it would come to fruition. However, this routinely visitation to Shiganshina District would be the last.
On that day, the pair that was the Colossal and Armored Titan would successfully breach Wall Maria, catching the entirety of humanity off guard. Reese was among the many lost souls amidst the feeding grounds of the invading titans, fighting against the tide of fleeing civilians in search of his uncle. This search ended in a failure as he was abruptly taken to safety by the butcher, his uncle presumably among the hundreds that were devoured during the nightmare.
With the death of Kled Kestrel, Reese and the displaced refugees were transported to the temporary sectors of residence within Wall Rose, though the boy was able to transfer himself and all of his friends to Trost District through his connections to avoid the desolate conditions that the refugee camps offered. He kept to his friends for the next two years, and while his aunt's family was devastated by the loss of Kled Kestrel, they more-than-happily welcomed Gabriel and Olivia with open arms.
Learning of his friends' desire to enlist in the military, Reese did not wish to be left behind, making a fatalistic decision to enlist alongside them. He had a slow start to the training process, but six months into the three years of training, the boy has potentially shown the highest ceiling of growth among the recruits.
