@Bushman501 True, but they were also men of faith, not of noble birth otherwise would've been a common crusader, I would think that Aeris is one of the few the Templars gathered, someone who was looking to atone for sin, since the Catholic church said that any who served during the crusades would be absolved of sins, but as he aged he met a lot of people, so I wouldn't count love interests out, however I will point out that if he did it may have been one of the reasons he died during the Templar Heresy, cause he was not caught immediately, he resisted.
This is as far as I've gotten with his backstory, but I'm sure I'll be able to flesh it out.
