Jax pursed her lips at his suggestion of blueberry tea,"Oh that sounds pretty good as well." She watched the waiter come by and gave him a smile as she listened to Morthos' wish to fight Mitsukini. She felt touched that her fight inspired him to get out of his shell, and again she blushed at his praise. She loved the attention, who didn't. She knew Ophelia was probably just thinking she was an idiot, and her Mom, god forbid, thought she was certifiably insane when it came to her goals. She spoke evenly after he finished,"I am happy that I inspired you to get out of the books. I'm sure they're comfortable but you're right, there is too much out there for you to just settle on one thing." She paused, looking at him for a few seconds before being brutally honest,"I have a dream..to one day be the greatest magic-user at SPA and I know that sounds narcissistic and power hungry, but being able to protect the things you love is an honor I have always placed high importance on. If I can be someone who is not afraid to face the world, then perhaps I can protect it.....Also, the money is awesome. I'm fucking tired of being poor."
She smirked, growing more cheeky, "Aside from that shit though, Mitsukini huh...I don't know much about your skill but he's tough. If you need help training I'm happy to help you out where I can. We are friends now and that means I expect greatness from you as well! It would be nice to have someone I like as a future team member. Plus I feel us demon inclined souls should stick together for a bit."
"I feel like my soul may be a bit more demon inclined than yours is," Morthos said with a slight grin. "Wanting to be the most powerful isn't bad if you're doing it for the right reasons, and it sounds like you are. As for Mitsukini, I know I probably won't be able to beat him with just my magic. He's too fast for me, my spells are too telegraphed, but with the supplies I grabbed, I think I'll be able to pull it off." Morthos knew though he'd have to either fight Mitsukini or watch him in a fight beforehand to get a real feeling for his technique. Morthos took a drink of water then said, "thanks for the training offer, I think if we were to really fight it'd be an interesting match."
Jax laughed, looking up only when the John brought them the food. She bit into the ice-cream quickly,"MMMMMMM....also...I'm pretty sure I'd kick your ass! I don't know if you know this but I am D tier now...so....I'm a pretty big deal" She giggled kidding obviously. She pointed her spoon at him,"All I'm saying though, is to be careful, and try not to get too wrecked, because...this." She waved the spoon back at herself,"Fucking hurts. The only solace is that Titan is going to wake up in a hell of a lot more pain than I am."
"Oh, sorry Miss big shot, please forgive my ignorant soul," Morthos chuckled as he started eating his waffle, "I'll be sure to check myself before I wreck myself." He ate some more of his waffle, he could tell Jax was clearly enjoying herself. "You know, fun fact about me, I am technically nobility." That was one thing about being a tiefling Morthos enjoyed, despite all the bad things he was still technically a noble.
Jax laughed at his retort then took a bite of apple crisp, raising an eyebrow,"Nobility? What does that necessarily entail....Are you like mega-wealthy. Do you live in a castle or something?" She didn't mean to be rude, she was generally curious,"I just want you to know my birthday is coming up and I like pretty scythes...." She laughs,"Just kidding. Seriously...if you're rich, don't buy me a scythe." She took a sip of tea, enjoying teasing him.
Morthos laughed, "No, sadly I don't have a castle. It's just back in the nation of Bael Turath, the nobles made deals with devils for power. Now all of their descendants look like me," He sipped a bit of his tea, leaving out the fact that his mother did happen to be pretty wealthy, but for unrelated reasons. "It's kinda nice knowing that despite the looks I get sometimes I'm technically related to someone who was high ranking in an ancient kingdom," he ate some more of his waffle and asked Jax, "any interesting facts about you? Why did you decide to go into demonology?"
Jax's eyes widened,"That's really cool! I bet your family history is very interesting! Deals with devils, I bet the stories are amazing." She sat back, hating talking about her past,"I didn't choose demonology. I wanted to be an earth bender like my Dad but the trait wasn't passed on. I got into an accident when I was about eight and luckily enough Ophelia was there to save my ass, but this was after I..." She shivered her expression turning cold and dark, the humor dying a slow death,"I was sent to hell." She looked down at her palms, parts of her pentagrams poked out of the bandages and she grit her teeth,"I..." She paused remembering the blazing heat of the flames and the screams. The image was burned into her brain, and she shivered. She clenched her fists,"I came back with a vengeance and a contract...let's just say that." She looked out the window, taking another bite of ice cream. There were things that she had never told anyone about, not Ophelia or any of her friends. Things she would take to the grave. Horrors.
Hearing her voice the way it was made Morthos realize how serious this really was. Being who he was he had so many questions, but he could tell she wouldn't answer them. "I've had visions of hell, but I can't imagine having been there," he reached out and took one of her hands gently in his and gave her a comforting smile, "you don't have to say anymore, if you ever want to give me the whole story, I'm always available to listen." He let go of her hand and went back to eating, when they finished he went to the front counter and paid for them both, even if Jax tried to pay he would be having none of it. "So, to your place than now that we've ruined dinner with dessert first." He gave her a cheeky grin, then turned around for her to get on his back again if she needed it.
Jax looked down in surprise as he grabbed her hand and offered her his ear. She blushed, giving him a small smile, but remained silent. After the finishing the meal, they went to the counter. She dug into her pants for some cash, but Morthos had paid already. She twitched her nose,"I'm getting it next time sir!" She then nodded at his mention of ruining dinner. She eyed his back with relief and hoped on, as they made her way to her place. She laughed as he bounded toward the ghetto part of the city. The building that contained Ophelia and her home was grungy. The brick was old but solid, and the place was as well maintained as an old apartment building could be. When they arrived they headed inside, noting Ophelia and Roxas were already inside. She eyed Ophelia's expression, noting that there was something off about it. Not bad...just interesting. She hobbled in, with Morthos following her,"Hey guys...have fun....shopping."
Suddenly her bedroom door swung open and Hargul came out, dressed in a glittered leotard,"MISS JAX! MISS JAX! HOW DID FIGHT...OH MISS JAX LOOKS LIKE PUNCHING BAG." He crawled up her leg hugging her neck,"YOU WON! YES? YES?" His green eyes opened to see Morthos behind him,"YOU BRING SHITSPOON WITH YOU TO! WHY MISS JAX??? HE MEAN TO HARGUL!"
Jax hugged her little creature with one arm, kissing his scaly bald head,"I KICKED THAT DOUCHEBAGS ASS HONEY BEAR! Also be nice to Morthos! He is my friend now..so you hold your tongue!"
Hargul looked over at Ophelia and Roxas,"MISS OPHELIA BROUGHT SHIT SPOON TO! NO BOYS IN HOME! DAD BE MAD AT YOU! THIS ONE LOOKING AT OPHELIA'S BUTT! HARGUL SAW! HARGUL SAW!"
Jax tried to resist but she began laughing hysterically, at Roxas' and Ophelia's faces.
