Excellent, wasn't trying to mess up your system, just trying to better understand it, now how you factor in moves like Hypnosis and toxic?? I just want a frame of mind to better strategize in the future
All moves are viewed in equal eyes in the RP Battle setting. The only thing that is considered is the typing. Mechanically, all they do is effect your dice roll.
As for those moves in particular, I assume you mean, what about Poisoning, Burning, Sleep, Confusion, and other stat effects. Well lets say, in the RP setting, Pokemon don't fully go to sleep when they are under the spell of sleep; they just get abnormally sleepy. Paralysis won't stop a Pokemon in it's tracks, it will only hinder its movements. If a Pokemon becomes confused, it won't start attacking itself, it'll just be less effective in carrying out a trainer's orders.
In all those cases, I'm just looking for justification to simply lower their roll, not have to use some off the wall logic that actually effects the battle in a biased way.
We have Pokemon Showdown to use when we want more strategic battles. And it will be used frequently. To challenge a gym... Showdown. To battle a main baddie.... Showdown. To battle against a Legendary.... Showdown. You can even challenge any trainer in the NPC section to a Shodown battle.
Let's leave in-depth strategy to Showdown and not worry about that in RP battles.
