Hello everyone. This interest check is going to be used for planning and creating a brand new Roleplay scenario which will be open for anyone who wishes to join. Now I will not hide the facts, the universe of 'Stand to Resist' are those of my debut novel, released nearly two months ago on amazon. Through discussions with other players, I have decided to create an event during the setting of 'Stand to Resist' but with different viewpoints, an entirely new plot and focus with small tie ins to the novel (It isn't necessary to have read it, obviously, because that would involve a lot of begging from me). So, to begin with, I should explain what the basics are for this universe, one that I would like to help discuss where you want our focus to be.
Stand to Resist is set within the fictional world of Farthall, a dieselpunk era of political chaos and misconduct between nations. Set in the last continent for humanity, five nations stand as large nations separated from one another by sea: the Ferusian Syndicalist Union, the Kingdom of Kelan, Redus, Louis and the States of Osakan. Our story takes place within the Kingdom of Kelan, which remains as the last monarchist nation left. When war breaks out between both Ferusia and Kelan, for reasons that are discovered later in the tale, huge mass-conscription forces the populace into armed service to defend the homeland. That is where the People's Army of Kelan, or the Militia as it is commonly referred to, pops into existence, where characters are thrown into a conflict they wish not to delve into. The universe is set heavily in a steam-to-dieselpunk setting, with dreadnoughts that glide in the sky, large naval boats that roam the seas, tanks that are mechanically powered by quadrupedal and bipedal movement systems, and other strange technologies. This allows for some creativity and experimentation of gear, concepts and battles later in the novel's cycle. However, our roleplay scenario will not be that of the main story, of course, and that is where everyone who is interested can help decide.
As you can guess, there are two main opposing viewpoints: Ferusia and Kelan. The option for both sides to be our focal point are very much open to discussion. Each sides have their own advantages and opportunities for plot-driven stories to come with them. For example, Ferusia allows for an entirely new viewpoint of the war to be opened to the players, allowing them to experience the bloody conflict from their eyes, with more advanced technology and the physical difficulties of fighting on foreign lands. What's more, they also have the opportunity to go through the entire war, as many of their regiments, divisions and branches fought the entirety of the war from start to finish. From the battles of the orbital atolls that surround Kelan to the physical mainland invasion, the setting and opportunities for battles are greatly enhanced. Also, to add onto Ferusia's lists of benefits, there are also several different viewpoints that can be listed. For instance, you have the Ferusian Expeditionary Force, the main bulk of the military power involved in the conflict. However, pilots of the Sky-Navy, sailors of the Navy or drivers of the Armoured Corps are also available. What's more, the Ferusian Sky-Navy also has access to the more advanced edition of the Aeronautical Marines, a branch of infantry used for boarding ships in the skies and parachuting to the ground for raids and counter-attacks.
On the contrary, Kelan also offer a unique experience with many more options for branches and different races to be available. Kelan's story-line can be split into early, mid and late war segments, where most branches of the military cover one or two of each segments, meaning our plot can be more focused and driven out. Their military branches are somewhat similar, but with added options for more variety. As previously stated, the Sky-Navy, Navy and Royal Army are the three main branches of Kelan's military bulk, however there is a fourth branch which we know as the People's Army, or the Militia; these are conscripted citizens that were forced to fight after they refused to volunteer for the royal army. Within the Sky-Navy, like before, are the Aeronautical Marines, though a more outdated generation of them. On top of this, the Navy has the Oceanic Marines and the Royal Army has the Rangers, land-based reconnaissance and guerrilla fighters that lead the attacks in mountains, forests and other low-tolerance areas. The Militia in question don't have a special forces branch but include the uniqueness of non-combatants being thrown into a war, causing much panic, dilemma, danger and death for their duration of the story. The Militia also have access to several other races that volunteered to join the defence of Kelan, such as Redus men and women who were refused access into the Royal Army or other branches.
Either side shows promise, and I want it to diverge from the story mostly because I want to potentially see this as a canon addition created by fellow players. Once the main series of Stand to Resist is complete, including the two sequels currently in the works, I want to release several novellas and side-stories to expand this universe. Some of which I plan to do are different viewpoints in 'Stand to Resist's events, including civilian, opposing and shared viewpoints to that of the main cast. I have no idea how well this plan may go, but I want to just experiment and make a new RP I understand the universe of completely and could potentially interest others with. As said above, those interested can leave their thoughts on what sides, branches, viewpoints or unmentioned suggestions they have to bring to the table for us to formulate and create this scenario. I hope that those interested wish to become involved and help bring a great, untold story if we can possibly do so. Many thanks!
