Aela cautiously approached toward Emily with her white flames continue to coat a radius around her. As the flames passed by Eric or Emily a surge of energy and calming energy washed over like a wave. More flowers perk up as dead ones return and come back to life. Aela was gritting her teeth as pain began to start at her fingertips.

She noticed the old rose bushes and directed her flames at them. Along with the ones closest to Emily and Eric.

"Anything yet?"

Emily and Eric both looked at Aela. Eric pointed to where they had seen those little lights. He was pointing right at the grass.
-"Take a look."

Emily nodded.
"I saw it, but then he did as well."

That time, Eric nodded. He hoped that Aela would not exhaust herself. He did not want her to tire out or anything while they were out in the open like that. He did not want her to be in danger. Eric truly cared about her.

Emily took a breath. She simply waited.

Aela took a glance to see where they were pointing. Her eyes studied the ground as her white flames continued to comb the earth.

Low lights caught her eye in the grass she smiled "that seems to be what we are looking for."

Eric nodded. Emily nodded.
"Yes."
-"Perhaps."
Eric faintly smiled at her. Emily rolled her eyes. She nudged him with her elbow. 'say it already'she whispered to him.

Eric shook his head. 'No'he whispered back. Emily sighed, frowned, and rolled her eyes again.

They kept walking. They followed the trail they now found.

Aela tested her theory to see if she had to keep her spell up and stopped her white flames for a moment. To see if the lit path would stay lit or stop. She was hoping she wouldn’t have to keep the spell continually but would do it for Eric and Emily.
“How far are we following the bright roses for?”

Emily looked at Eric.

Eric sighed. He shrugged.
-"It just said 'to keep following until the lights' end'. I was not sure what that meant."

Emily sighed.
"Neither was I."

They kept walking. They kept following the path of lights. Eric blinked when he thought he saw shadows up ahead in the far distance. He raised an eyebrow. He looked at his sister and Aela. He stopped in his tracks for a time.

-"What do you two make of that shadowy spot over there?"

Emily blinked. She looked where Eric was pointing.
"That is odd. It's like no light can get through there."
She frowned.

Aela flicked her wrist a normal flame appeared in her hand she gestured toward the shadows. The flame soared towards it.
“I’m not really a fan of that. But, I feel it could be what the book is talking about. I’m going to go in. If I’m not back in five minutes it’s probably something bad.”

Aela walked forward cautiously her flame floating by her side as she made her way onto the shadowy patch. She braced herself for the worst.

Eric frowned.
-"I don't think you should go alone."

Emily gave a worried look. She nodded in agreement.

Eric blinked. He saw what Aela was doing. He tried to stop her.
-"Wait!"
But, he seemed to be too late as she was already walking towards the shadows and such. He frowned.

Emily gasped quietly.

Aela stopped in her tracks a moment. “If you two want to join me it’s now or never.”

She waited for a few moments and continued onward toward the shadows. Please be where we need to go..she thought in her mind she reached out a hand through some of the shadows. She took a deep breath and walked into the shadows her flame floating by her head.

Eric did not have to be told twice. He broke into a run and went after her. He ran as fast as his legs could move. He was certainly in a hurry to get to her. He did not look back, nor did he look around, not until he caught up to Aela.

Emily gasped. She had not expected Eric to move so fast. She ran to catch up to her brother. Eric had already stopped next to Aela by the time she managed to do so. She was out of breath afterwards.

"If...if this...doesn't...prove....that....you like her....I....don't know what....what does."
Emily sounded as out of breath as she actually was.

Eric blinked. He turned bright red.
-"Sh...shut up. Let's.....just go in, shall we?"

Emily managed to roll her eyes.

Aela glanced over to Eric and noticed his blush she couldn’t help but smile. “ Eric, if something happens I just want you to know.... I love you.”

Aela moved through the shadows the flame beside her was put out and she stood in darkness. Is this what the book meant? Maybe I’m supposed to move on without light? She began feeling around with her hands it seemed the shadows made a wall would there be a path?

Emily had begun to follow Aela inside. She blinked. She heard their friends' words. She smiled. She glanced at Eric to see how he would react.

Eric blinked. He stopped in his tracks for a moment. His heart skipped a beat and such. He blushed crimson. 'She....loves me?!'he thought with surprise. She liked him back! He gasped. He could not hide how happy he was to hear that. He quickly caught up with her. He felt around in the darkness and was soon holding her hand. He smiled again.

Emily smiled. She followed, listening closely.

Eric cleared his throat.
-"Aela? If you can hear me, I...."
He took a deep breath.
-"I....I love you too."

He bit his lip and kept walking with her through that small area of darkness.

Now, it was Emilys' turn to gasp. She smiled. She was happy. He finally told her. 'Now he can stop whining every time we talk about her' she thought with a smirk.

Aela wandered in the dark, using her hands and feet to guide her friends she was unable to hear Eric's response. She was flushed in embaressment and slight irritation. Love, I can't believe I already said the L word to him. I mean it's true, I do love him but isn't that a bit sudden?

Aela continued to look around for the shadows to open up or a way to signal the exit. Her chest felt tight as the shadows moved around her they felt to be made of mana. Maybe if she tried to use her flame again it would work? But the clue said it had to be through the light is end.

Eric blinked. Did she not hear him? He frowned. He sighed and let go of her hand. He simply walked in silence. He looked hurt, but none of them would be able to see that.

Emily blinked. She noticed that aela had not heard him. She frowned, worried. She knew how sensitive her brother can be in a situation like this one. She wished there was something she could do, but she couldn't, since they were still in that dark area.

They would get out soon enough, and only then would Emily see the look on her brothers' face.

Aela stooped she felt something hold her hand and stop. She looked around
“Eric? Emily are you okay? These shadows are effecting me more than I’d like.“
She didn’t realize she was shouting until she heard a delayed echo from her voice.

Eric walked on ahead in silence.

Emily sighed.
"We're ok. I think Eric just has a case of hurt feeling is all."

Eric turned in their direction, despite not being able to see them.
-"Shut up, Emily."
He walked on ahead at a faster pace. He reached the light and the outside first.

Emily gasped. She felt bad now. This journey, and being ignored, seemed to be effecting Eric quite a bit.

Hurt feelings?....Maybe Eric had other thoughts? So...that’s his answer..But, I thought he liked me.

Aela waited for Emily who sounded like she was behind her. Aela reached down and grabbed her hand gently. “Let’s make it out of here together Em.”

Aela was able to find the exit after a while and passed through. She began coughing as the pressure against her chest was suddenly gone. Once her coughing fit died down she regained her composure. “Well that was certainly something. Where to next?”

Emily nodded. In the darkness, Emily placed a hand on Aelas' shoulder.
"I heard my brother tell you he loved you too. But, you did not respond. I think he either felt ignored, or that maybe you lied. You need to talk to him."

She followed her out of that darkness.

Eric was outside waiting for them. He was dead silent for a time. He blinked, frowned, and looked at Aela when he heard her cough. Once she was fine, he actually looked a little relieved. But, then he looked away again. He simply shrugged at her question.

Emily sighed.
"The swampy region, too dangerous for most people."

Emily’s words slowly return to her memory. She glanced from Emily to Eric. She approached him cautiously. “Hey Eric can I talk to you?”

Aela led him off the path a bit and turned to talk with him. “I meant what I said before entering the shadows. I do love you..or I mean I like you...very much. And I’m sensitive to mana sometimes a bit overly at times. I didn’t hear what you had to say in there..but I’d like you to know I meant it. I was wondering if you felt the same?”

Emily stopped in her tracks since she had resumed walking. She waited for Eric and Aela.

Eric blinked. He frowned and raised an eyebrow as he turned to look at Aela. Then, he was suddenly being led aside, away from his sister. Eric sighed.
"....Yes. But when I didn't get a response I...I thought you were messing with me or something I...."
He blushed a little bit.

Emily sighed. She felt bad that there had been a misunderstanding between those two.
