Ryker
Alias: Riffmaster
Archetype: Original [Bard]
Age: 25
Weapon of Choice: Lute of Wonder
Powers and Abilities: Ryker does not have any innate superpowers. His weapon, however, has an assortment of applications with a vast library of effects, though he currently only knows how to execute but a few of them.
"Go Get 'Em" - A rallying song that immediately gets the adrenaline pumping for Ryker and his allies. Under the effects of this music, a person (or many people) become stronger and faster.
"Lullaby" - This soft, pretty song induces drowsiness or tranquility in others. Can potentially calm hostile foes or induce sleepiness.
"Boom" - A powerful riff with some offensive and defensive applications. The sound from the lute is focused and channeled in the form of either a targeted sonic blast or an outward spherical shockwave with Ryker at the epicenter.
"Quake" - An earth shattering solo that can disrupt the integrity of the ground.
"On The Mend" - A song that gets the body to engage its healing mechanisms at a slightly faster rate than usual. Great for curing a fever or clotting an open wound, but not nearly powerful enough to bring someone back from the brink of death.
Weaknesses: All normal human weaknesses. Without his lute, Ryker is not much of a fighter. He can throw a fist, for sure, but he lacks technical prowess when it comes to hand-to-hand combat.
Personality: Works hard, parties harder. Absolute optimist and gung-ho teammate when it comes to entering the fray. After living the life of a recluse for so long, Ryker tends to overindulge in social activity now that he has reintegrated into society.
Experience: Ryker's pool of battle experience is shallow, but his musical expertise is matched by very few.
Bio: In a story long forgotten, Ryker's descendants had come into possession of the Lute of Wonder, a nigh indestructible artifact with a vast array of powers whose limits remain unknown. After experiencing what it could do, Ryker's ancestors decided it could never fall into the wrong hands and so they dedicated their lives to hiding and protecting it, passing the lute from parent to child for generations, living their lives as reclusive guardians in the dark woods of Eternia.
Not long after it had been passed down to Ryker, his family was attacked by Scare Glow and an assortment of minions, all of whom were hellbent on stealing the lute. Ryker's parents tried to fight back, giving Ryker a chance to run away with the artifact in tow. The young man hid for days, fearing that his pursuers would eventually catch him, but they did not. After he returned to his familial home, he found everything in disarray, but Scare Glow and his parents were nowhere to be found.
So now Ryker wanders Eternia with his lute; a nomad with an appetite for justice and a lingering hope that he will find his parents once more.
